Here’s the thing though, right now these are all just our own conjectures about what might happen based of the extremely tight lipped press conference we just heard.  I never said anything that wasn’t said, and there are currently two camps after that presser.  The ones who think they heard hes hoping to come back then the ones that don’t think he is. 
 

We have no real way of knowing.  But saying those things weren’t talked about is absolutely crazy on your part.  Quite trolly from the one accusing me of picking fights. 
 

I also don’t just come to message boards, I have been coming here for 16 years and definitely don’t plan of stopping anytime soon with lord Stanley on the way.  See you on Woodward friend

No. I said if he got the term and Yzerman gave him a better picture of what the top 6 may look like, that I believe that he may have no issue returning. 

So, if Yzerman gives him a good picture of what he is trying to do to improve the team and they can agree on term that works for player and team, I honestly do believe he'll be back. Maybe Yzerman doesn't get his star players involved that way though....don't know, but it's no reason to soil 2 pages of this thread with slurs and pointless banter. Debrincat said "he picked us for a reason" Kane said some factors are "where he fits on the team and who he may play with." It's in the videos. Interpret that in your own way.

Im ok with Perron at 1.5 mil on a 1 year deal.  He's gotta be ok with up and downs to GR on that deal too, tho.  I think set a great example when he fought back for Larkin.  That incident earned him a place in the red wings organization for as long as he wants, imo.  Might have to transition to off the ice very soon, but I like the guy now.

Lalonde seems to like dump and Chase hockey.  Therefore, we need guys that are fast enough to beat the other team to the puck.  Perron doesn't help with that

Look my Woodward friend, I have not been arguing with you about what you think, or I think. I've been pointing out to you what EXPLICITLY was said. 

And he did not say hes hoping to be a Red Wing next year, just as he did not say he's definately testing free agency. I do not care what you believe, and I havent been trying to convince you of a different point of view. I'm taking issue with you misquoting the interview to make it seem different than it was. 

There's a tremendous difference between "Dcat said he thinks Kane's coming back" and "Dcat said Kane chose us last year for a reason, I, 13dangledangle, think Kane's coming back". I would have drawn zero issue with the later. 

If you initially paraphrased badly, just say so and move on. Jeezus.

As I explained to 13dangledangle above, extrapolate whatever you like from these interviews, but don't tell everyone Kane said something that he absolutely did not. It's dishonest. 

In regards to your first point, I think Kane knows where he stands. He's easily the 2nd best forward on this team. And probably the most talented as well. He'll continue to play with Larkin/Raymond/Dcat until his body breaks down significantly. 

The area of concern for Kane, I think, (SEE HOW YOU CAN POINT OUT WHEN SOMETHING IS YOUR OWN THOUGHT AND NOT A DIRECT QUOTE) is that Yzerman chose not to add at the deadline. Kane doesn't have 5-7 years to wait for the Yzerplan to come to full fruition. He likely expected to receive additional support and it didn't come...

Then, if any of you watched the Lalonde and Yzerman exit interviews, they both talk about how the team is probably going to be younger next year. El Captain talks about adding Berggren and even Johansson to roster next season. 

Personally, I think Yzerman knows he can't break from the plan and give Kane the the term and money he wants, and the two have already wished each other well on their future endeavors.

But he did say, exactly his choice will depend on where he fits on the team and who he plays with. He may have been referring to 32 teams, but I believe he was mostly talking about Detroit.

Kane was speaking about factors that will generally go into his decision. Not solely about Detroit, and it certainly wasn't him discussing "whom on the wings he wants to play with next season".

I am not going to continue banging my head against the wall with a new person now. Take a hike. I believe Kane sodomized Al the Octopus and will sign with the Leafs.

Well there was one thing that has been nice while The Wings weren't relevant.

So, back to real conversation, with hearing that they are going to give Johansson a legit shot at Detroit, knowing Edvinsson is also going to be here, plus also knowing they'd like Ghost back, that makes a pretty jammed up defense. Well what Yzerman said exactly is he thinks both Johansson and Berggren are close to ready for full time duty, but both have to earn their spot, it will not be handed to them. And he continues by saying both will be waiver eligible next year, and he does not believe either of them would clear waivers today. So essentially they have to come up and be ready for a full 82 game season. No more weekend AHL business. 

IMO Kane was Berggrens stop gap. He's probably gonna make the team out of camp and stay there.

Johansson I'm not sure will. We might not see him until injuries pile up or the TDL. 

Ghost, and probably Holl, won't be on this team next season. Leaving Maata and Johansson to fight for the 7th spot. 

There really isn't any logjam.
