Between Dobson, Faber, and Nurse, the going rate for a 1A dman that eats up all kinds of minutes and scores about a 1/2 point a game seems to be 8.5-9 mil.  Time to get Mo locked up and not have to worry about him for 8 years.  This shouldn't be something difficult for Yzerman.  Claude what do you want.  9.5.  I'm at 7.5.  7.5 is ridiculous.  9.5 is ridiculous.  Ok, meet in the middle at 8.5 with no trade/no movement clauses?  Done.

I believe it will be 8 year deals for both, and all parties will have to be pleased. On Mo and Rays end, the salary cap will increase substantially over the next 8 years. Their prime earning years. Have to believe they are fighting for very lucrative contracts. On Yzermans end, inking these two solidifies his rosters foundation for the next decade. At what price is he comfortable doing that? What happens in a few years when Danielson, Kasper, ASP, and Eddogg turn out even better and need massive contracts?

Scam needs to think very deep on this one. Because, though it seemed prudent at the time, re-signing Walman and Fabbri look like big mistakes in hindsight. Can't make that same mistake with these two.

5 forwards out, and 3 forwards in. Good chance we are going to get to see some of Mazur, Soderblom, Kasper, and maybe Danielson this year.

Perron's foot speed was starting to seriously regress, so Tarasenko is an improved replacement there. 

Berggren should be able to replace some of Fabbri and Sprong's scoring. But also Motte is a much better player for a bottom 6 role, than Fabbri or Sprong, being a matchup defensive forward. 

Add in Kane getting a full offseason training and full season with the team, plus Raymond being vastly improved, I think we are definately better at the forward position. 

Gustafsson won't score as much as Ghost, but he is an upgrade defensivly. Between Edvinsson and AJo, they should have no problem replacing the Walgod. 

At D we don't look much different. So improvment will depend on the seasons of Eddogg and AJo. Big contributions from them could spin this around, but theyre rookies, and that remains to be seen.

Talbot is an easy upgrade over Reimer, so the net is improved. 

After the lessons learned last season, i think this group comes out hungry and we make the playoffs. 

Biggest question I have is, who will be Seiders new partner? Chiarot is the obvious choice. Lalonde loves to lean on him and he played much better with Seider last year once Texas Roadhouse got benched. However part of me thinks we say fuq it and staple Eddogg to that pair. Let him learn from the best and log huge minutes. Chiarot's presence would add stability to the 2nd pair.

Chiarot - Gustafsson (should compliment each other nicely)

Maata - Petry (bottom pair, who cares)

I completely disagree and think you're absolutely NOT WATCHING hockey.  He was AWESOME in the last 2 rounds of the SCF, and those are the hardest minutes in hockey.  He's worth a hell of a lot more than a 1st round pick.  Especially a first round pick in the 15-25 range.

The SCAM is proving to me he is not fit for roster management.  He should be head out scouting and asst gm.  We need a business management professional to GM.  Raymond and Seider negotiations are simple.  You can tangibly see exactly what u get every single game from these 2 guys.  Get 3 or 4 comparables and average them out.  Then offer on the low end and negotiate to slightly above the middle.  This should have been handled MONTHS ago.  The SCAM is a good player evaluator.  He stinks at roster management so far.  Hopefully, the 3rd asst GM helps him with that.

Big Ben AKA Shop Wreck Chiarot AKA Chad King AKA Benjamin Chiarot, on the Luke Gazdic podcast, on why he was the most coveted Dman at the 2022 TDL: 

Stick work and gap control. Says when he played for Winnipeg all he would do is wreck guys shops and feed Bylugien the puck. But once he arrived in Montreal he started to mature his game. Focusing more on "gapping up" and defending with his stick. Even says Nick Lidstrom was not the fastest skater, but you'd never notice because he would never get burned by skaters bc of his gap control, and would keep oncoming attackers off balance with his stick. And, since Lidstrom has re-joined the organization, Ben has been picking his brain on how to better walk the blue line. 

Expecting a break out season from the assistant captain and leader of our blue line this year. Now that he and Seider have found chemistry together we can probably expect a pairing more similar to Chiarot - Byflugien or Chiarot - Weber. AKA a dominant defensive top pair AKA Scott's worst nightmare.
