Also, let's just trade next year's 1st, plus Berggren (and Johansson if necessary) for Zegras already. He's put up 60+ points at center (twice) and is no more or less useful in the defensive zone as most other offensive minded centers. I really like the looks of this...

Dcat-Larkin-Tarasenko

Kane-Compher-Raymond

Copp-Zegras-Mazur

Ras-Motte/Veleno-Fischer

Motte/Veleno

Please no.    Zegras would get killed in the playoffs.    I would much rather have Kasper in that lineup spot and have Danielson being the Zegras of our future.

Why can’t we have all of them? Move Zegras to the wing when Nate and Marco are ready for all I care. We are STILL one Larkin injury away from a disaster and Zegras can insulate us from that for a bunch of pieces we don’t need.

I agree.  I'm sure it would cost us a lot, but it's worth pondering at least.

I keep forgetting that this team reverts to 2020 whenever Dboss goes down.

Cost us the playoffs last year. We would have easily made the playoffs if we had even gone .500 during the games Larkin was out of the lineup. That's an extremely mediocre bar for a team that was 8 points up on Tampa for the 1st Wildcard when Larkin went down in March.

On a different note, yall remember when everyone around here thought Gostisbehere and Sprong were about to get PAID and we'd never be able to afford them in free agency? That was pretty comical. Raise your hand if you ever said something like "Ghost is about to make 6 million per year, no way we can keep him". LOL

Still need that 2nd primo play making center. Love Copp and JTC but they are not fit to run a top6 down the middle on their own.

Ghostbear is so bad at defending there was no way he was coming back. Gustafsson is the same style, but I'm hoping the reason his scoring has dropped the last few years is bc he's more committed to defending... hoping

Gustafsson is a much better defender than Gostisbehere, but with a good portion of the offense. I really like Gus and was pitching him for the Wings a few offseasons ago. I think people are going to really like him. I think there's even a chance he plays higher in the lineup than many fans are anticipating. He was an 18 minute a night defenseman on a team that won the President's trophy and went to the Conference finals. Clearly he's not a liability in the same way Gostisbehere was.

As for Copp and Compher, I think both of those guys are really great and can be big parts of a Cup contending team...just not down the middle. For instance, if Compher gave you 50ish points as a 2nd-3rd line complimentary winger (opposite guys like Kane or Dcat) would anyone be mad that he's making 5 million? Same with Copp. I can see those guys being defensively responsible wingmen for more offensively minded linemates but still able to hold their own in the o-zone.

I would definitely like to move JTC away from center, but we have so many RW now it looks like he's gonna be 2C again

I definitely thought Sprong was gonna get paid considering he made well below what he was worth in Seattle and Detroit. Guess the hangup on a contract is term? I think there are a few contenders who could use some depth scoring and Sprong is still relatively inexpensive.

Or maybe he's paid exactly what he's worth considering he's not very good at anything aside from shooting and turning the puck over?

Pretty sure 20 goal/45 point scorers generally make more than 2 mil a season.

First, Sprong scored 18 goals and 43 pts.

Second, Fabbri scored 18 goals and 32 pts in 8 less games, and had to have a pick attached to him to be moved for nothing.

So wtf are you talking about?

I'm becomg increasily convinced youre not watching the wings or even following the league.

Sprong was consistently scratched in favor of Czarnik down the stretch

Why don't you take a look at Sprong's  22-23 stats? He is basically averaging 20 goals the past 2 seasons.

And Fabbri was a cap dump. That is not even close to being a comparable. But if you are going to compare them, how much did 18 goal Fabbri make last season?

I'm aware of what Sprong did in Seattle. I live there. He was also a healthy scratch for the Kraken quite a bit. The guy won't commit to playing defense, so he's never going to rise higher than 4th line minutes. 4th liners don't get paid.

Verbeek wanted Fabbri. Go listen to his comments about him. Sucks there was zero market for Walman and Fabbri this year, because those were not traditional cap dumps.

Huh? He played in the final 7 games of the season. The ones that mattered most.

He was scratched for games 72, 73, and 74. He returned to the lineup for game 75 because Czarnik got injured. Then remained in the lineup because Rasmussen got injured shortly after.

He's gone, so what's it matter?  You're like the little kid on the school yard arguing about who won the handball game last Wednesday.  Who gives a rat's ass.

Jack Drury and Carolina have settled on a two-year deal 2024-25: $1.775M 2025-26: $1.675M AAV: $1.725M

Drury 24 years old C, played in 74 games - 27 points

Veleno 24 Years Old C, played in 80 games - 28 points

I can see this as Veleno's contract too....
