I don't get why this took so long. Same with Raymond. Both deals are somewhat what everybody expected them to be.

Also, the length benificial because now they don't have to work out the next deals for Ray and Mo in the same year.

Because the players were probably asking for more. And by being patient and waiting, the advantage went to Yzerman the closer it got to the season starting.

Nobody understands, but the sin this offseason is the same as the last 2.  Scooping up a bunch of other DOGSHET (Gustafsson, Lagesson, etc) to play around our stars instead of scooping up other good assets (Broberg, Holloway).  This is an F of an offseason from our big PLANNER GUY.  I won't be surprised if we  start the season without 5 of our first rounders in our line up (Kasper, Danielson, MBN, ASP, Cossa).  That's stupid.

We do have a collection of mid junk that we seem determined to use block out our future core players.

I really think we need to start moving the Velenos of the world for upgrades elsewhere and replace em with ELCs.

Every team has a collection of mid junk who eat minutes for cheap. That's how you can afford to pay the top of the lineup guys. Eetu Luostarinen, Nick Cousins, and Ryan Lomberg played 226 combined games for Florida last season, scored 24 combined goals, and all made about what Veleno has made up to this point.

You can easily replace players like Veleno with ELCs and save more cap.  I really think we need to follow the Chicago model of the 2010s and rotate out middling scrubs for new ELCs.

You can't replace everyone in that mold... you do need some experience as well but churn these guys as soon as they want 3+ million.
