A roster full of undersized rookies? Stanley Cup bound! Clearly Yzerman doesnt want to win. he is keeping better, younger players down in favor of sucky vets. It is all a conspiracy. Steve is still secretly working for the Lightning. I see it now. Scott was right. Yzerman and Lalonde would rather ice an inferior team than put kids on the roster. Cuz that is how you keep your job. You utilize the worst people.

Lombardi also looked really good again last night. I think it's going to be another big season for him in GR and if he hits the weights again next summer like he did this summer he's going to make the Wings next fall. He's right there and improving a lot as he goes.

I liked Wallinder as well. The defensemen had a hard night generally because Lalonde was experimenting with the pairs at times, but he was noticeable (off the rush especially).

Two games in one night is a genuinely unique experience for me as a hockey fan. Anybody else remember anything like this happening in the past?

Regardless, since we've got two Red Wings games tonight I figured I'd ask...which game are you watching and why?

I'm watching whatever game Marco Kasper is playing in. To me he's the most likely of the young guys to make the roster so I'm following him closely. He's been exceptional so far. Your thoughts on which game and why?

NHL television in a nutshell. You need five different apps to watch a regular season game but you can watch two pre-season games for free on the same day, but only days after a preseason game couldn't be watched with audio.

Red Wings just released the rosters for both games. All the NHL guys and AHL hopefuls are playing against Pittsburgh. Anyone who has no chance of making the team is playing Buffalo. The disrespect is real.

There can only be ONE dog. We have never had two dogs, and I'd sooner root for the laughs before I let this board break with 15+ years of tradition.

OG Emdog passed the torch to Glendog in 2014. Glendog then passed the torch to Eddog in 2021, and that began the first dead dog era, where the roster was absent of a dog.

Now that Eddog is FINALLY joining the roster officially, do we really want to strip him of his dog status in favor of another prospect? However, the DAWG (Detroit Athlete Who's GOAT) is traditionally a forward, and traditionally a beloved bottom 6 forward. Emmitt Finnie exemplifies those qualties to a T. Edvinsson does not. So is Edvinsson really only an interim dog? Will the torch pass to Finnie when he joins us in Detroit? Surely two dogs cannot coexist on one roster. There can only be one.

While we are on the subject, who, in theory, was the dog b4 Emmerton? 

I'm thinking it was Holmdog. Retired right after Emdog joined the team. And Homedog had real dog like qualities.

And, if you allow me to pontificate, there exists an obvious pattern of a bad dog following a good dog, and vice versa. Sort of a "Bad times create good dogs, good dogs create good times, good times create bad dogs, and bad dogs create bad times." Dynamic, if you will.

Therefore, logically, the dog preceding Holmstrom must be Sanddog.

Sandstrom - bad good

Holmstrom - good dog

Emmerton - bad dog

Glendog - good dog

Edvinsson - interim dog during the dead dog era

Finnie - good dog

I'll continue to work on this history of dogs theory tonight during the lions game

Good to see Cossa getting the start with the "full team". That's some big boy s*** for him and I'm expecting a monster season from him this year in the AHL. Askarov (who was drafted a year earlier) was the "top goalie" in the AHL a season ago and I think Cossa was as good or better in the second half of the season. I think Cossa dominates this season and never sees a minutes of Griffins time again after a long playoff run in GR.

It's weird watching two Red Wings games at once... kinda like watching two NHL games like in the regular season, but not!
