#2393263 Corey Perry Knee/Kick to Howard

Posted by Number19 on 01 May 2013 - 11:01 AM

It didn't do anything for me and I hate Corey Perry. The radio stations are making a deal out of it here but I don't see it. Yeah he shouldn't be so reckless and it's a dangerous play, but he got his penalty. If he does it a second time then it's a different story and someone like Tootoo should be the s*** out of him.

I'd be okay with sitting Tootoo for Bert to see what he's got to offer. If it doesn't work just switch him out next game.

Pavs did make 13 solid for the Wings. Saw it was #2 jersey sold this year behind Toews.

Slava wasn't too bad himself.

1 and 9. Sawchuk, Howe, Yzerman, Fedorov. Not bad. :)

To go up in the rafters at the Joe, you have to have been an otherworldly talent AND been a team leader for basically an entire career.  Dats has the talent but not the leadership, Zetterberg is vice versa.  It takes a lot to get retired at the Joe, and I'm pretty glad about that.  I don't like the idea of retiring a new number every five years.

From watching Dats bust his ass every day the past decade I'd say he has leadership. Lots of times he's the only one who gives a damn out there. Leadership isn't only speaking english well.

Some of these choices are headscractching to say the least.

I wouldn't mind Bert's big body in the playoffs. Sammy can stay on the bench.

SCOREBOARD.   SCOREBOARD.

 Datsyuk top 15 in scoring with Abs and Cleary for his linemates half the season. Not good enough I guess.

#2380919 Ilitch is being cheap with the Wings now that the Tigers are good.

When you factor in he's been trying to get a new arena done for 5 years now this theory sounds kind of stupid.

St. Louis made the playoffs for 20 straight years and they were pretty mediocre. :D

no dekeyser? :unhappy:

I'd like to see Brunner score another and Pavs to continue rackin up the points.

#2380265 Holland retirement watch?

Posted by Number19 on 04 April 2013 - 02:54 PM

All this whining about Holland standing pat and not selling the future, unbelievable. If I were Holland I'd have taken the easy road out last summer (- retiring with Lidas and moving up as president of hockey operations in the organization) and left my successor trying to fix a behind the pack team, going out as a GM legend! One at least has to love his will to fix it and leave (hopefully Stevie, Shero or Chiarelli) with a great roster to build from.

Develano has pissed away his chance to ever GM the Detroit Red Wings, with his stupid and insanely offending comments. This organization from top to bottom is and always was about being classy and you can't tell me Mr. I was happy with this comment. You try your best to threat players well and then someone of your own organization is throwing the players under the bus like nothing? Doesn't fly with me.

So of course people can critisize Holland all they want, but at least admire his will to fix things.

Sample size without goals: 28 games

Sample size with goals: one game

Yep, he has a history of scoring... that is, less than 20 goals per season. He is also one of the dumbest players in the league, and certainly one of the least disciplined.

You know what I mean. Zetterberg had a 1 goal in 20+ games streak this year, I guess he sucks too? I know you like being the contrarian around here but quit acting dumb. Less than 20? 22, 19, 24, and 17, that's averaging 20 goals a season. Also I said producing i.e. points, not scoring goals.

#2380020 Shocking, Wings aren't active as trade deadline expires

Posted by Number19 on 03 April 2013 - 10:25 PM

Completely untrue.

In other news, apparently the word of just about every single hockey analyst---all of whom praised Holland's decision to not move prospects or high picks at this juncture---means nothing to all of the experts on this board. The team is re-tooling on the fly, and throwing away prospects for short-term, expensive players would be foolish.

It's a damned shame that we didn't pick up Brunnstrom, too. After all, he scored a hat trick in his very first game! No, wait...

After all this time, don't we know better than to judge players on a sample size of one game?

P.S.: Clowe's two goals were gimmes. He scored the first one after been gifted a loose puck in front of the net and having nobody to beat but the goalie, and the second one was a tap-in into a wide-open net.

Well obviously unlike Brunnstrom Clowe has an established history of producing in the NHL. Not a fan of his but I wouldn't be angry if we acquired or signed him.
