#2186052 No, No, NO! Jagr interested in Detroit.

Posted by dirtydangles on 16 June 2011 - 07:43 AM

Jagr is in a top shape, and he proved he can play against the very best at this year's WHC, where he was named the best forward. If it's for cca 2M, I'd be estatic. Jagr thrives with a two-way center, he played with Plekanec at the 2011 WHC, and Z and Dats are even better. This could be pretty awesome addition!

He played great in one tournament, not an 82 game season. As another poster said, I'd rather have Zherdev. He's about as "safe" as Jagr, but if he shines in detroit we will be able to keep him around rather than him retiring. And yes, if we do Jagr then Hudler HAS to go.

#2184858 Paul MacLean named head coach of Senators

f***! this is bulls***!

#2184854 Changes in the offseason

Posted by dirtydangles on 13 June 2011 - 12:23 PM

I actually think hiring the right coaches is far more important than signing players as of right now... and it just got harder losing MacLean.  The last thing I want is Babcock-esk coaches coming in, we need coaches that can coach the players how to play Red Wings hockey so Babs can continue doing his thing well.

THIS. I agree sooooo much with this. I'm so nervous to see who we get. Ideally we'd keep MacLean and pick up Hitch (not likely) but I'd love to see Jiri Fischer or Cheli get a shot because as you said, they would know "Red Wings hockey" and the organization. I want somebody with either extensive experience like Hitch or extensive experience within the Red Wings organization.

As for the players, I think that there is a big step to take this offseason. Wiz could be perfect. I like the spark he would provide on the back end, which has been pretty quite of recent years. He, Kronwall, Abby, Helm would keep other teams in check with their physical play for the most part. I want Burns so bad, as i have stated many times, but I know its a stretch. Other than that, I thought Zherdev could be a real steal for this team. He has the tools required to put big points up, just needs the motivation to be there, which I think guys do get from coming to Detroit.

#2184367 Wings - Flyers Trade Partners?

Posted by dirtydangles on 10 June 2011 - 01:44 PM

I like the idea of adding Carter, but that's no what I want to address here.  Adding anyone that's 26 years old and an established player DOES give you immediate help AND future help.  A quality guy at that age is likely to remain a solid and productive member of your team for at least the next 5 or 6 years.  Don't get me wrong, draft picks help, and they are REALLY important.  But on a team like the Wings, it's very likely a good draft pick won't even break the lineup until he's 25 or 26, and even then, many of them are unknown quantities at the NHL level.

THIS. This is VERY true. We don't get a lot of guys coming out of GR at age 24 that are as solid as a guy like Carter. We don't have a top 5 pick in the draft (and likely won't for a long time), so waiting 3-5 years to see if that guy is gonna pan out as an nhler is a real gamble if he's not a top 5 pick (which are likely going to pan out). Instead you could have a guy like Carter who we know is a proven sniper.

#2183712 Flyers acquire Bryzgalov's rights

Posted by dirtydangles on 08 June 2011 - 01:43 PM

Filppula+Kindl+2011 1st (24th)+2011 5th+2012 2nd

for

Carter+Carle

Provides cap relief to philly and I think that there is similar value both ways. We NEED a center that shoots right. and Carle could provide lost offense from losing rafi. decent size at 6 feet tall.

Then we trade Hudler for a 2nd or 3rd to gain back a pick.

#2182310 Brad Richards

hmmm now you got me thinking. If we did sign richards, we would have the ability to trade flip, he's a higher end player that could be used in a package deal for bogosian, but is a worse version of richards. hudler can be used to gain a pick or two in the draft and get us some cap space. I still would like to see kenny try and get jeff carter off philly just cause hes a right handed center that would fit great on our second line.

With Abby (plus picks and prospects) in a deal for Carter, as Philly needs to offload for 5.5mill capspace. Using Hudler to get a draft pick to replace one lost in the deal for Carter.

#2178739 Brian Rafalski announces retirement after 11 NHL seasons

Posted by dirtydangles on 23 May 2011 - 08:25 PM

if not this season, then in the next expect to see one of weber, doughty, burns in a detroit uniform. its gotta happen to keep this team afloat.

P.S. We need a right handed defensman badly now. Wis is the only viable option imo. but i would only do a 1 yr contract. ill name my first kid kenny if he brings weber in somehow. i really don't mind giving up 4 firsts for him. He is young and talented. Better than anything we would draft with those late first round picks in 4 years. Not to mention we could trade hudler for picks as well.

i CANT believe we let go Ville for this guy.. I dont know if it was a salary dump or they thought they were getting a good player? I wish we never parted ways with Ville

we can have him back next season. hes a ufa and philly has a lot of guys already signed. leino needs a pay raise from his 800,000 contract last season.
