#2595158 We NEED Bigger Ice!

Posted by number9 on 17 April 2015 - 12:03 AM

Nope. I like small NA ice. Creates a tighter checking game and weeds out players who only flourish when not under defensive pressure.

I don't know if bigger ice actually translates to more scoring or not (I'm skeptical) but I do believe smaller ice is harder to play on, which contributes to the NHL being the toughest league to play in. And that I like.

With the Wings falling out of the playoffs, I would hope that Holland gets rid of the garbage aka Ericcson, Erc. There are at least 3 or 4 more players that need to be gone, permanently.

#2574792 Is Jimmy Our Playoff Goalie?

Posted by LeftWinger on 25 February 2015 - 01:55 PM

Yes, he will be the PO starter, but I believe Mrazek will be in WHEN Jimmy s***s the bed.

That being said, Jimmy has a ton to prove this playoff. $5M+ to lose ALL the big games is asinine. If/When Jimmy s***s himself again, he should be traded in the off season.  NTC or not, he can be convinced to waive it.  Re-sign Monster and he will back up Mrazek. Jimmy is the main reason they lost in Anaheim, and he was the reason they nearly lost in Dallas. s***ty goals given up when his team depends on him.

I like to think of myself as John Travolta in Look Who's Talking.

Or that Battlefield movie

I didn't see battlefield.
It looks terrible
This feels bad.
Weiss has to bury that

Yes Howard will be the starter. Thank God there are no shootouts. :glare:

Yeah Jimmy will be the starter - he has playoff experience. However, deep down I think Mrazek is a big-game player and would rise to the challenge of the playoff pressure.

#2570434 Do we need a trade to get our offence going ?

Posted by Buppy on 13 February 2015 - 08:02 PM

Right. I wish Capgeek was still available for scenarios like this, but my guess is it wouldn't leave us much room to retain key players.

Would put us around $62.5 with Nyquist, Jurco, Andersson, Smith, and Franson to re-sign. Depending where the cap winds up, we'd probably be 2-4 mil short.

Maybe if we could offload one (or more) of Quincey, Franzen, or Weiss.

Does that mean you're an assman, kip?

Is that a question?  I thought my love of husky, big boned, midwestern women was well known?  What are the two most fun things to do in cold weather?  Play hockey, and fat girls.

Totally. What this thread really needs is another of your epic four-part blockbuster trade scenarios.

Don't make me sick my gifrlfriend's dragons on you.

The Wings doing this along with the Packers always doing this is bad for my heart!

Except the Packers lost

#2563158 Petry next Oiler to be shopped - FTLOG Kenny, get it done!

Posted by daniel1 on 14 January 2015 - 12:53 PM

Petry's a legitimate top-four defenseman. If we're being honest, we have exactly one defenseman who's clearly better than Petry.

We (Holland) really missed the boat on Leddy and Boychuck... they would have made a great 2nd pairing here for years to come. If we're waiting for Sproul/Marchenko/Jensen to play to that level it's at least 5 yrs down the road. We need some D'men to bridge that gap now if we're going to seriously contend in the playoffs. Petry would be a great start but I think we need at least one other top 4 D too and from what I've seen up to this point Smith and Kindl should be moved to make room.

#2562716 Mixed Feelings - Shea Weber whoops Matt Cooke

I'm over the Zetterberg thing. Have been for years. Don't really care.

That said, I have to say that fight was underwhelming.

#2562278 McGratton on waivers

Posted by KATIEBARTHEDOOR24 on 10 January 2015 - 04:04 PM

Can't we all get a long. Don't forget we already have an enforcer. Our "powerplay" damn that lines so old and tired. Next time Weber smashes Hanks head into the boards for free. Don't forget we'll get ours on the PP. Oh wait if I recall there was no call on that play. Once again we lost that year as well.
Fighting DOES have a place in the game. BUT you must be able to contribute elsewhere on the ice as well.

#2562250 McGratton on waivers

Posted by GMRwings1983 on 10 January 2015 - 02:22 PM

I bet we'tee the only team board in the league that devoted six pages in 24 hours to McGrattan.

That's because Holland has pussified us for too long.

That's right.  He wants Lucic to go out of his way to hurt someone, so that McGuffin can come back and make Lucic not hurt people anymore.

And that, in a nutshell, is the mentality of the pro-fighting crowd.

I get the feeling that you grew up playing hockey and lost your roster spot to an enforcer.

#2561031 Randy Carlyle relieved of his duties by Leafs

Posted by darkmanx on 06 January 2015 - 07:02 PM

I will start off by saying I absolutely hate the Leafs, but the media in Toronto is absolutely a disgrace. Two coaches have been fired, mind you Wilson was not that good but when does the organization look at the culture and makeup of the team? I mean signing Phaneuf last year to that contract has destroyed that franchise right now. 7 million / 8 years for him is not good. Gardiner looks terrible, they should have sold high on him. Kadri is a decent 2nd line center, but not a top end talent / shutdown guy, and he disappears alot. Lupul never plays, he's always injured. They have Clarkson at 5.5 million doing nothing.

Phil Kessel is absolutely blamed for everything that goes wrong by the fans and media, yet he is paid to score goals and that's exactly what he does. Kessel is a PPG player, sure might not be the best defensively but that's where others need to pickup and help him. JVR is not good defensively, and isn't close to as good on offense as Kessel but he never hears anything. Kessel is always being called "out of shape" or "doesn't compete enough" but people forget, he is a PPG player, and he plays in thef****** NHL! How can you not compete enough and be out of shape when you score 35+ goals a year, and score at a PPG every year in the NHL! Would love to see him play with Hank or Datsyuk, he might push 45+ and he's an underrated passer.

This video is absolutely ridiculous. What a dumb question, and an insult.
