The fans in Detroit were all snug in their beds, While Stanley Cup fever danced ‘round in their heads; Kirk Maltby, Kris Draper, Brad Stuart, you see, Would star in their dreams of what would soon be. Next day on the ice there would be such a clatter, That, for true fans of hockey, nothing else would matter . Away to the arena, we fly like a flash, (Unless we can’t get tickets, ‘cause we don’t have the cash). The laser light show on the freshly groomed ice Would light up the way as we welcome our guys! Then, what to our wondering eyes should appear, But the best of the NHL, as least so far this year. With a Captain named Lidstrom, and a forward named ‘Tuzzi We knew in a moment we all could be woozy. More rapid than eagles, the players they came, And we whistled and shouted, and called them by name; “Now Rafalski! Now Kronwall! Now, go, Andreas Lilja! On Datsyuk! On Zetterberg! And, Valtteri Filppula! Into the Playoffs! With the best of the League! There’s no turning back! There will be no fatigue! As the Coyotes and the Sharks and the Blackhawks all cry, When they meet with the Wings, and their Stanley dreams die. As the Penguins do crumble, and Montreal meets with fate, The Devils and Capitals will just have to wait. For now, in a twinkling, no rest for the weary Here’s Franzen!, and Helm!, and Danny Cleary There’s Meech and Ericsson and Jimmy in net Drew Miller, Patrick Eaves,The best fourth line yet Then, dressed up so nicely, in the best they could find, The coaches line up, with the trainers behind. There’s MacLean and McCrimmon, and our golden Mike Babcock. And, of course, Ozzie, the world’s best back up! Our eyes, how they twinkle! Our hearts are so merry! With Redmond to comment, or maybe Don Cherry. With a wink of his eye and a twist of his head, Mike soon had assured us we had nothing to dread. He spoke not a word, these guys know how to win To The Finals we go, we can do this again. They spring to the ice, as the referees whistle, In pursuit of the Cup they will fly like a missile. And the fans will exclaim, whether they lose or they win, “Go, Red Wings! We Love You! What a great year it’s been!” GO WINGS!!!!!

When we saw Pav and Z play together this year they really didn't look all that great. With Babs hell bent on keeping them apart, I've been wondering about whether or not they'll ever be able to recreate the magic. YT has 'Top Plays with Lecavalier and St. Louis' and I thought, "Why don't they have one of these for Datsyuk and Zetterberg?" So to the best of my ability and access to footage as a fan, I made one myself. Even though the NHL doesn't have footage stored from 02-03 or 03-04, I feel as if I remember those years fairly well enough that I'm not missing a goal when it comes to pretty plays between the two. The blog is acting a little weird so I have to paste each link one by one: Hope you all enjoy it!

The yotes are not Canadien, so no worries. But seriously, NHL officiating is the worse of any major sport. Now that the old guard is retiring in droves, it will be even worse as time goes on. The post shutdown officiating is an absolute mess. If I wasn't a red wing fan I would not watch this game at all because Bettman has completely f***ed it up.

Jimmy is by far the best goalie to ever play in the playoffs. He's never lost a game and he's never allowed a goal. Let's rock their s***!

if they do have fans now (highly unlikely) there all a bunch of bandwagoners. something that can be said about all of the detroit franchises fans is thats they have stuck with their teams no matter what
