As you are a newcomer to LGW, a friendly atmosphere is the typical welcome. Yet, with the lack of quality in your posts and the bloated ego sense of self-worth along with the omnipotent user-name, you will have a steady decline to denial with self-loathing derived from lack of emotional support from all peers around.

Yes because Osgood didn't show he could do that when he was actually playing more than once every two months.

I think you are getting at a good point in that you can't rely on a single player to move the puck through center ice. Although I still think the way they have lines "expected" this year is better. Offense Holmstrom Datsyuk Zetterberg Bertuzzi Filppula Franzen Hudler Modano Cleary Abdelkader Helm Eaves Subs: Miller, Ritola, Draper The reason i feel like this is better is simply because Franzen does so much better when he has someone to take the "big man" role off of him. Bertuzzi knows his role and will essentially perform it better than hudler could. Also Franzen is quite good at moving through the neutral zone as well. As we all know the lines will change a fair amount and i wouldn't mind seeing hudler ont he second line, but I see bertuzzi as the better fit for Franzen and Filppula.

Lines really look good on paper. I am looking forward to seeing what kind of chemistry this team can put together. Hudler replacing Williams who replaced Hudler. Modano replacing Sammy. I wonder if Willa Ford would be up for putting on some "shows" during intermission... MMMMM, stacked... Kronner's knee is still bothering him. Also, it will be interesting to see how Big E handles the season; same goes for Kindl.

I agree. Obviously he's doing a good job mentoring Howard and he has proven himself capable, so he will do fine as the back up. I'm just hoping that he has more of an opportunity to prove himself to all the doubters the keep saying he's done. Last season was very bad, but the circumstances caused it more than anything.

This is a perfect example of "what have you done for me lately?" You ignore the Stanley Cup win and Stanley Cup final because he had his first losing season IN HIS CAREER with a team that was not only injured, but based on coaching decisions defferred to Howard for most of the season.

    Abdelkader re-signs for 2 years

No Abdelkader must clear waivers in order to be sent down, abdelkader will get picked up. He's in a red wing uniform this season for sure.

If you really want to use the depth then Hudler-Modano-Cleary looks a hell of a lot better than Bertuzzi-Modano-Cleary. When it comes to scoring lines Babs likes two skill guys to do most of the puckhandling and one guy to retrieve the puck, be big in front of the net and create space for the other two guys. In the former situation you have Modano and Hudler as the primary puckhandlers, which is a lot better than the latter situation. Bertuzzi really shouldn't be one of the two guys that gets to handle the puck because of certain tendencies of his like backhanded turnovers at the blue line.

Babcock says he is going to start with Bertuzzi and Hudler switched but yeah, those are pretty much our lines for the season barring injury. Stuart.

Oh for... Here's an idea: See how he plays this season, and then decide if we want him back and at what price.

I never said he wasn't playing more than once every two months the entire season. I said when he was playing more than once every two months (which was hyperbole) he showed capability in the backup position. Just because he was rusted on the bench half the season doesn't mean he will be piss-poor in the next couple years. And considering he has one more year on his contract I would say your salutations to Osgood are a bit premature, no?

Toronto, Anaheim, Calgary, and Edmonton for me. With the Leafs adding Mike Brown, and with the possibility of Jay Rosehill playing a bit more than last year, I think Toronto will be up there in fighting majors. Edmonton won't get pushed around, with the additions of Steve MacIntyre, Colin Fraser, and Jim Vandermeer. There's still some tough guys available, like Brian McGrattan, Donald Brashear, and Nick Tarnasky.

I don't think Toronto is done yet this offseason. I think Burke will lure Raffi Torres and a veteran bottom 6 guy like Steve Begin, Darcy Tucker, or Adam Mair. I'm rooting for Rosehill to get some games under his belt this year. Dallas won't be getting pushed around, with a 4th line of Barch-Sutherby-Burish. Carolina hasn't picked up anyone notable this year, do they still consider Tom Kostopoulos their tough guy?

Now I know this subject causes issues among members here, but I'd honestly like to hear people's opinions on what teams will be the meanest this upcoming year. I'd like to discuss individual "enforcers" with everybody. In no way, shape, or form am I purposely trying to brew trouble. I simply would like to talk about the rough and nasty side of the game. I don't want this to turn into a debate thread, I just wanna talk grit and fighting. Who do you feel will be the meanest team this year? Discuss (Without arguing)

    I hate shootouts

Not liking ties doesn't make you the "odd jackass out". I don't love ties either. I just hate shootouts more. They focus on individuals to decide a team game. They encourage mediocre teams to try and survive the OT to put their one or two star players on a pedestal instead of focusing upon winning as a team. My personal opinion is that they skew the overall judging of teams, and I think recent rule changes reflect the NHL thinking the same.

    Kenny done dealing?

IMO the only player the Wings would pick up is a Downey type. Kenny is probably shopping both Miller and Ritola. If there are good offers for both, I could see them going. With Mursak, Tatar, and I. Flip in the AHL, the Wings have the depth to move both Ritola and Miller if they choose. I would put the chances at ~25% though.
