11/11 GDT: Oilers 2 at Red Wings 6

Well, I guess that Edmonton Sun writer was correct about the city of Detroit because the Oilers are getting killed!

    Flippula vs Hudler

Filppula has never played on a line without at least one player who outperformed him. Hudler has almost always been the best player on his line. This season is Filppula's real breakout offensively, plus he started the season playing with Franzen and a rejuvenated Bertuzzi. Hudler opened the season playing on a line with linemates he never had the opportunity to play with before in Modano and Cleary. Mo and Clears were just as cold as Huds was at the start of the year, because none of the three played a full preseason due to injuries. So it's not really a fair comparison at this point to take a guy who started out hot and compare him to a guy who started out cold. But for those of you who haven't been paying attention, Filppula was on pace for 45 points coming into tonight. Putting Hudler on his line sure seems to have helped him and Franzen out of that slump they were in.

Best bargain we ever got for $1. I love Drapes, and will be really sad when he hangs them up one day.

I was calling for a Franzen/Flip/Hudler line since before the season started. They've all shown good chemistry in the past and their skill sets provide three offensively skilled players with a good mix of styles. Hudler is the kind of player who can make an offensive opportunity in just about any situation offensively, and playing with the other two works very well with that.

Man, I totally called this one earlier today: "Is it going to still be an Oilers game when the Red Wings are up 3-0 after the first period? " 7 hours ago

    Forsberg's last comeback attempt

That's not really fair. Chicago could probably benefit from a third line of mindfly/GMR/Carman.

I totally misunderstood you, Mindfly. I used to think you were a troll, and I'm sure on some occasions that was true of you. But after reading your input in this thread it has become painfully obvious. You are just indescribably stupid.

I don't really mind Hudler getting top 6 minutes, but why scratch Eaves? He's been the most consistent bottom 6 guy this season.

One jersey will have a big Ovechkin face and the other will have a Crosby face.

    Class Act Organization

I've been casually viewing this site for awhile but until today I never felt the need to share my opinion. Today, however, was different. My brother was diagnosed with leukemia while playing junior hockey in Saskatchewan earlier this year and he had a bone marrow transplant a couple months ago in Calgary (he's had to live there for the last several months due to the lack of facilities in Sask.). We have been die-hard Red Wings fans since we were really young and it's been a dream of ours to someday watch a game at the Joe but today he experienced the next best thing. Mike Babcock gave him a call this morning and invited him to the Wings practice in Calgary and invited him to meet all of the Wings. Every single Red Wing took the time to not only introduce themselves but genuinely get to know him. He was encouraged by Dats and Zets to stick around for practice prep and to come back after practice for some autographs. Ken Holland offered him tickets for tomorrow's game and Babs invited him back tomorrow to once again hang out with the Wings after their morning skate. For a kid who's been through a lot in recent months, he was on cloud nine today. The Wings have always been my favorite team but today they turned it up a notch. I was absolutely blown away by everything today and I think it's safe to say we all cheer for one of the classiest organizations in the NHL .
