Woohoo! Love the early GDT, thanks, Mike! I am so pleased for Winnipegians (?) that they have a hockey team again. That said, let's crush their hopes and dreams, Wings! Poor Eaves. He looks like this now Can't wait to see again. Soon, get well quick, Patty.

I swear, the Penguins must have the words "Nothing Short Of Ultimate Douchiness" stenciled in gold glitter above the door of their dressing room. Next to a picture of Cooke and Kunitz curb-stomping an old lady.

wait til you see this goal celebration...

That celebration should be reserved for a top shelf one timer at the top of the circle ala Brett Hull back in the day, not a lazy tap in.

So pumped, going to this game with a friend of mine that's from Winnipeg. My first NHL game ever.

Love the Frozen Moment! I still love The Professor... I honestly don't know what to expect from either team. You know the Jets are going to be pumped for this game. Hopefully the Wings can play all 60 minutes like the 1st period against Phoenix.

This is really pathetic. He should get a call from Shanny just for Shanny to say "Really bro?"

There's nothing wrong with the celebration in my book.I've seen more crazy goal celebrations in football(soccer) or in hockey like this... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b8K655g4Y_0

That "frozen moment" is quite cool. Larionov, Khabibulin and Kozlov. I wonder if it has felt weird for Shane Doan to play against Jets this season. He must've never thought that he'd get to play against them and even without ever getting traded.

Yay! another GDT Hopefully this one will be busier for you Mike. I haven't paid any attention to the Jets this season so I don't know what to expect but love their new logo....and that's it. Wings will hopefully have another good night tomorrow, we couldn't have used up all our goals for the week

This. I like hockey because it's a team sport and players celebrate together after goals. They acknowledge the guy who made a great pass, or took a huge hit to make a play that ended up in their goal. Some personality is fine, but that was assinine. I don't want hockey to go the way of football. Where nearly every friggin tackle or completed pass involves a player's preplanned signature move. Leaving the bench was a nutball move by Downie. This warranted a scrum. Not coming off the bench.

Typical Bettman "mind games"; make it look as if the League is doing everything possible to better the game, while the greedy players only want more money.

    Jonathan Ericsson Watch Thread

Except Ericsson isn't continuing to play bad. In fact, he's been quite solid back there. He has his brain cramps like most dman have... but overall, he's been fine, and definitely not been the 'problem'. Smith has shown glimpses of greatness, but as we watched in his last game(?) on the Red Wings is his ability to feed the other team free goals. Of course, I see him learning to make better decisions in the future, but right now, to Red Wings standards, he's not ready to crack the roster... yet. Let him play in GR and hone his game. In every loss I can point to one player that made a stupid play that cost us a goal. From Zetterberg's giveaway in the Boston game (which we won in SO), to Howards softy in last night's game to the Blues, but to me, Ericsson is the least of the problems. This team, overall, isn't playing with the spark we saw in 2007, 08, and 09. Unless one can argue Lebda and Lilja were game changers, stop blaming Ericsson.

I agree, actually. It's not like he's eating up loads of salary and we're close to the cap. He's made the odd mistake, but so has everyone else this year. Especially on D. I wouldn't be getting mad at him for costing the odd goal every now and then, I'd get mad at the Bertuzzi's, Hudler's, Abdelkader's and Zetterberg's for having an impressive 11 goals combined between them in 97 combined games played. I'm also not that high on Emmerton and his offensive contributions, but as 4th liner rookie I'll let it slide for now.

I didn't have this injury, but there is a friend of mine who is a grinding forward who hurt himself in high school that had almost a carbon copy injury his senior year. He was centered the second or third line. After he came back, he was just as fast as he was before the injury. The problem is that until it heals fully, you are constantly feeling that you have to test it. My friend said he came back too soon, and he spent 2-3 weeks playing tenative hockey instead of getting his nose dirty like he used to before the injury. Fast forward to today, he is playing club hockey down in Chicago. In short, it isn't like a knee injury. The key is to make sure you are healed 100% before you come back.
