They're probably both being tight lipped so nothing gets said to reporters that can be taken out of context and hamper negotiations. It seems that they're tired of the back and forth jabs via the media and actually want to play hockey. Also, when you cancel a Winter Classic with 2 of the wealthiest teams that pay a great deal toward the revenue sharing and the broke assed 7-8 owners are the reason the NHL is locked out, it's time for the big dogs to step forward and say eff that Buttman....we want our game with over 100K people. Get it done!

Well, both sides finally met for longer than 2 hours. It took 4.5 months for them to finally sit down and meet for 6-7 hours and then meet again tonight. I certainly hope real negotiations are happening. We don't know because both sides are tight lipped about what was discussed. Still, I applaud both sides for finally sitting down and getting down to brass tax. I hope it continues for the rest of the week or until a deal is done.

That's why some of us want to let some of our 3rd/4th liners go and bring up young, big and fast players like Sheahan and Andersson to take care of the banging and crashing. If we have skilled guys like Brunner and Nyquist in the top 6 where they belong and we have Sheahan and Andersson in the bottom 6 with the likes of Helm, Tootoo, Abdelkader, Eaves and Bertuzzi I guess. Your top 6 is Nyquist-Dats-Franzen and Flip-Z-Brunner and that's a pretty solid forward unit. Then that takes care of skill, toughness, speed and that will win lots of games as well cause of the amount of responsible 2-way forwards on that team.

How is it the Leafs fault that they make boat loads of money and the Glendale taxpayers pay millions to keep a team that they don't support anyways? The NHL just needs to leave Phoenix. Why should the Leafs pay any more to revenue sharing than the next team? If they have more profitable teams paying more than others then there needs to be a hierarchy in the NHL where the owners with the most profit have more pull than the owners of teams who can't afford to pay their players and have to give tickets away to get people to the games cause no one will show up otherwise. There is a lockout because there are too many non-hockey markets in the NHL. And why should the rich owners pay the salaries and other costs for teams? Personally, I think revenue sharing is complete BS. That's like Coke giving money to Pepsi cause they can't afford to pay for bottles to put their drink in, but they still want to sell pop....

This lockout makes me long for the days of complaining about Ericsson's refusal to use his size and Franzen's refusal to be awake during regular season games. Ahh, good times.

This might be a case of me reading too much into something, but Ansar Khan is tweeting that Big E is back from Sweden, and is participating in an informal practice in Troy today. Big E had been playing a few games in a lower league in Sweden, but last I heard he was still exploring options of where to play afterwards. Might be a sign that players are sensing an end to the lockout sooner rather than later...

Nobody loses a team that is self-sufficient. The Wings didn't make money for decades; they're still here. I've been a hockey fan probably longer than you've been alive. I don't care if the game grows. It was better before it didn't They should have stopped with the 1970 expansion. The league started in 1926. Revenue sharing didn't occur until over-expansion and teams couldn't generate revenue. That's 79 years of good hockey and growth even without Sidney Crosby; I fail to see how revenue sharing is built in. And no, I'm not in the Cali area anymore, but if I were, I'd still hold the same opinion. And just because "everyone else does it," doesn't mean it's the good or right thing to do.

    Where would you go?

I would either go play on EV Zug with Z, and Brunner, or CSKA Moscow alongside Datsyuk. Whichever team took me first (hopefully CSKA)

Good ol Stanley is going to look mighty good with all those gaps every 6-7 years.

    The AHL

Going to make a couple of trips to see the Griffs. Hoping to see Petr Mrzak have a chance in goal.
