At this rate I would be happy with just someone with a combination of skill and will. Cleary had will but no skill and Franzen has skill but no will. Lol.

Nyquist already has half the points of Abby but he will be sent down after the game for getting an assist. Edit: seriously Franzen.. you have a 1 on 1 and you skate back to our zone just to turn it over ? f*** right off.

Just to be clear, you're holding it against Babcock that now in his 10th year as an NHL coach, he's made it to game 7 of the Stanley Cup finals twice and won it once? Most coaches don't have that "blemish" on their resume because they don't make it to the Cup Finals three times.

I've been watching smith pretty close this game. Kid looks terrible cant make a clean outlet pass to save his life. Either misses his guy turns it over or up the glass and gives it to the other team. Wings are on a decline. Can't even beat the flames

Don't worry guys, we have a lot of shots! esteef

Another good period by the Wings and that 2nd powerplay unit was great at moving the puck, but also getting shots to the net. The first unit should take notes. Also, I think it is time the Brunner/ Zetterberg experiment comes to an end. Yes they played overseas during the lockout and had chemistry, and had chemistry earlier in this young season, but lately they have been getting nothing done together. More than that, Brunner looks like he is just trying to do too much and Hank has been making some off passes. A simple mix of the lines is the solution here. Filpulla- Datsyuk- Brunner Nyqust- Zetterberg- Franzen Fil and Pavel are the 2 best forwards out there tonight and both guys can get Brunner set up for shots and allow Brunner to simplify his game. I have always believed that Franzen plays better with Hank and Nyquist would add some nice speed to the line. I really wish Babcock would consider this.

And yes, Brunner on the point is NOT working. Babcock needs to give up with that approach now. Let him set up down low and play Kronners and Smitty on the point.

the Wings have played better but a mistake and a bounce and they are down i think this is one they comeback to win though

I think in this case, the criticism is justified. For one, he's trying to not take responsibility. To me, not acceptable for a head coach. Secondly, the Cleary, Dastyuk, Abdelkader line CLEARLY is not working. Though I'm far from a hockey expert, Tatar seemed to add energy and a viable offensive threat to the team that is sorely lacking scoring. I'm not at all the *hater* type but some of these moves are baffling to say the least. I almost feel like Babcock is saying here you go Kenny, this is the s*** you're giving me, I'm going to play them and play them. Either that or he's channeling his inner Jim Leyland and his unfathomable loyalty to Brandon Inge.

    Perry hit. Thoughts?

Let's just say I have a much bigger problem with a guy grabbing somebody's head and slamming it into the boards then a guy being a little late finishing a check.

Nyquist called up, Tatar sent down

I couldn't disagree more its 100% up to Babcock who plays and who doesn't. Babcock is the reason Tatar didn't get any top 6 time, He's the reason Nyquist was in the minors for the majority of this season, and he's the reason Abdelkader is still in the top 6 tonight. Babcock doesn't trust younger players like he does guys like Cleary. So I wouldn't hold my breath hoping for him to all the sudden have a change of heart.

This explains certain "injuries"..... "Sammy, you want to play?" "No no, I need to be home so I can count out the money Kenny gave me!" Detroit Free Press headline: Mikael Samuelsson sprains wrist stacking hundred-dollar bills from his 3M dollar paycheck. Won't require surgery - out indefinitely. But in all seriousness, if what Babs says was true Tatar would be on one of the top two lines.

He's gonna want a big contract now after that goal.

Scratch Tootoo, play Nyquist and continue to play Abby / Cleary Scratch Nyquist, play Tootoo and continue to play Abby / Cleary It's a lose - lose situation.

Their 2nd goal was a complete fluke. Bad bounces like that have been happening to Detroit a lot lately, not to mention the Wings also hit a post very early on which is a bad bounce... it seems lately all the good bounces go to the other team... but based on how the Wings played the 1st there is no doubt that they do not deserve to be down a goal right now and if they continue to play like this, they will win the game.

How could Franzen miss that (almost) empty net in the PP?

Hope Smith is alright. It did look like he turned though. Good to see Q and Abby at get in there.

Fil is looking possessed out there. Pretty much generated all that offense there. This is the Filppula we saw last year.

That's definitely the problem is that there isn't a better coach out there. Ours is just being stubborn as all hell. I think the fact that he left the square wheel line together so long just has a lot of people very pissed. And if Dats leaves after next season, it will be remembered for a long time and a lot of people may blame Babcock for not giving Datsyuk the tools he deserved to be the best player he could be.

    Perry hit. Thoughts?

Late, dangerous hit to the blindside. I don't like Perry. The allowance of hits on players who have passed away the puck exists so as to take into account the hitter's momentum toward his target. It isn't always possible for a player to pull up after his target gets rid of the puck. In this event, there's no question that Perry had time to veer off before coming into contact. You'll find few people here, fans of Perry included, who aren't aware that the guy is a complete and utter d-bag.

Babcock: Is he the right guy going forward?

Because he's one of the best coaches in the league. He's not perfect, but he's a damned sight less imperfect than the vast majority of coaches in the league. You seem to think that any change will yield positive results. That is nonsense.
