Remember how Arizona lost a first-rounder because they had their own little combine for prospects? Remember how New Jersey lost a first-rounder because they signed Kovalchuk to a contract that was well within the rules of the CBA but the league decided to cry foul? Yet the team who covers up sexual assault for 10 years gets barely a slap on the wrist. Clown league. -

Those ball combos were the most rigged thing ive ever seen. "Okay we'll show you the ball pulling, but we wont tell u what it means, well just say that combo means chicago." Ud have to be mentally damaged not to see how rigged this is. I also love the end of the video. Gary tells the two (thats right kip only 2 team reps were in the room, not 32) team reps and 3 reporters not to leave the room or share the results with anyone until its broadcasted. But b4 its even revealed Kevin Weekes (who was not in that room) announces the result. Either the NHL is shockingly inept, or they are predetermining draft order. These arent stupid ppl. Its rigged. -

If the league cared about census or largest metro area Houston would have had a team decades ago, before Dallas even. -

Kip, youre way off here. Watch the video. Every team in the league did NOT have a rep in the room. And nobody in the room had ever been seen before besides Gary Betman. And the Chicago Blackhawks guy in the room didnt get excited when the last ball was called out. And the other teams guys in the room didnt gasp when the last ball was called out. Thats cuz there was only one guy with a magic sheet. And he whispered "Chicago" for some stupid reason. And the sum of the balls ended up being 31, which one of the MOST LIKELY sums statistically for a 4 ball pull from 1 to 14 after eliminating the 24 ways 11,12,13,14 could be pulled from from the accepted pool. Sums of 10 to 49 being the least likely, sums of 29 and 30 being the most likely with 29.5 being the mean over an infinite amount of draws. This draft lottery is RIGGED. And it matters. If it's rigged, it could mean that we never had a chance in any of the previous years. This shouldnt just be an oh well situation. It hurts the integrity of the sport and fans of teams like ours that have been shoved down draft positions continually should be upset. -

Sex scandal and Toews and Kane are gone. Try to keep up. The landscape has drastically changed. -

No ones saying Gary doesnt invest in expanding markets. Youre arguing a completely seperate point. Detroit fans show up no matter what you do. Chicago fans are fairweather and will just switch to the Bulls if you allow them to fail. Pretty easy logic to follow. -

Chicago is the jewel of the NHL to Gary. They make a boat load of cash everytime they do an outdoor game there. He wants his honeypot flowing. Anybody who says otherwise glows in the dark. -

Before the Toews/Kane/Keith era the Hawks fandom was dead in Chicago. That lil dynasty of there's not only revived it, it made them super popular in Chicago again. Now with the sex scandal and the tank, the league is afraid of losing everything they built. Now with Bedard they can have 10 more outdoor games a year there in the next 20 years. Its all pretty obvious. -
1 pointMaybe winning % over 3 seasons? So - for example the 2023 draft selection order would be averaging the 22/23, 21/22, and 20/21 seasons. 2024 selection order would then be based on the winning % average of 23/24, 22/23, and 21/22. So in theory - a team like the Caps would certainly not be 8th this June - more like 14th/15th base on a 3 year win %.

Anybody here a statistics guy? 4 ball combos could go from 10 (1,2,3,4) to 50 (11,12,13,14). So over an infinite amount of draws, I would expect 30 to be the mean and top of the bell curve. Am I wrong? The blackhawks ended up at 31. That does not appear far enough away from the mean to justify a 14% odds drop. I would think for 25% of infinite draws, you'd have a spread of 10.5 (25.6% published odds × 41 draw combos possible). So the Ducks should have had a ball combo range from 25.25-34.75 to give them a legit 25.6% chance of the 1st pick. And why wasnt the sheet with the numbers made available to all before they pulled the balls? Even if they were randomly going to pull out more likely combos and assign them to less likely teams ( which makes zero sense), they should have made that available to all days before the draft if they wanted us to believe this was legit. Some guy in a suit whispering "Chicago" after checking his secret sheet is garbage. I dont believe it. If that sheet was public, and a statistics guy can prove the odds are distributed correctly with it, then I will stand corrected and be quiet. As it stands now, I believe all the people in the room are part of a fixed lottery draft set up to send marquee players to struggling big markets to increase revenue for the sport (which I'm not against). Hockey is a great sport, but this part of it sucks. They need to take it out of the commissioner's hands by setting a 32 year schedule where each team gets a number 1 overall, then worst to first for picks 2 to 32.
