2 goals in 10 games over the course of a season is 16 goals. How many current F's scored that many this year? 4. 16 goals would be tied for 5th with Datsyuk this year. For anyone that doesn't think he made a difference isn't watching the games. he did what he should do: get the loose pucks behind the net and along the boards, he scored goals in front of the net-which BTW isn't his game. Blashill used him wrong-mainly because he has no other choices. Mantha is a sniper and is great at driving the net-not camping in front of it. But that is another issue all together.
Now he wasn't playing so yes send him down and let him play. But stop with the stupid statements. he wasn't a spare part in the PO's last year. he played every game for the Griffins.

Almost have the steel wrapped all the way around on the lower portion. Bunch of concrete prefabs in place for the rows of seats in the upper.

I like it. Need a little bit of nasty on this soft team. Most current Red Wings wouldn't dare cut off the mattress tag, and if they did they would probably turn themselves in the next day.

You can start to see the positioning of the arena bowl in relation to the site now. Looking forward to flying over when they start to build the bowl.
As for updates coming into the colder months, as long as it isn't wet out and not super windy, I will still fly. If I can't fly, I will try to get pics best I can from the street level.

That was a nice goal. I've been watching some Devils hockey since he went there. I can't believe that we couldn't find a place for him when he was here. He does much more than just pester and fight.

We don't have a second rounder this year, so he's gotta be wrong.

Since trades are at a bit of a lull right now...
The top 6 teams in the East are all over 80 points and only 3 teams in the West are at that level. Is this mostly due to more high end and low end teams in East vs. more parity in the West?
For what it's worth, East vs. West games have been almost a dead heat....with the West having a very slightly better win percentage (175-130-42 for East vs. West and 181-140-35 for West vs. East).
Maybe it's just me....but I haven't really noticed any big and scary, consistently dominating West teams yet this year. Nashville is the obvious team to point to (1st overall), but for some reason I just don't see them as dominating....maybe that's just history and I'll just need to get used to it...we'll see.

I was born after his hockey career was over but have a ton of Red Wings memorabilia including old programs and tons of pictures and a bunch of international keepsakes while he played for Canada and the London Lions in Europe.
Many are the items international teams exchange with each other before/after games.
Also if you don't know about the London Lions, I'd recommend checking them out. It's a cool part of Red Wings history.

You can order any name you want on a jersey/sweater like those dorks who have their own names put on them.

Mitchell Callahan would do nicely and throw Abdelkader on the other wing and you have an energy line that hits like the grind line of old.

We need a legitimate enforcer and a scoring powerforward imo. A powerforward is virtually impossible but I would settle for a skilled hard working guy like Callahan, Dubinsky or Matthias. The latter is perhaps a possibility as he seems to struggle a bit lately.

Was about to post a thread about this, this morning. I don't know why he is consistently overlooked. The guy is tough, works hard, and has an eye for the net. IMO I'de have him on the wings before your generic soft grinder (eaves, glendenning, emmerton, etc) any day. He has adapted his game for the wings, and has more dimension on a fourth line than any of the previously mentioned guys! Sheahan and Ferraro have under achieved compared to what many expected out of them, when they were drafted, Cally has done nothing but work his ass off and improve every year. He's not an enforcer by any means, but isn't afraid of anyone, and can also put the puck in the net. He deserves a shot.
also, although +/- can be deceptive, Mitch is a plus 13.

Dirty Harry scored his team leading 14th goal for the Griffins last night and seems to be making a strong case for a job on the Wings next season. He has cut down on his pims considerably and has actually shown the coaches he can play as well as agitate.
A fourth line of Sheahan Tootoo and Callahan looks an intriguing one which may just happen.

What education? Players need more education to not put themselves in the situations to get injured. None of these hits were egregiously dirty.

I know it is a hot topic and we should discuss it here. Edler gets suspended for trying to avoid smith who was in the same exact situation last year with Shaw. Smith dove and now is faking concussion symptoms because his team is going nowhere and he has nothing to lose.

Lupul barely touched Hedmen who falls like a ton of bricks. Obvious dive. Yes what Lupul did should be illegal but he barely touched him.

Perry suspended 4 games for literally brushing against a guy who was lost in space and wrecked himself.
Zolnierczyk hammers Lundin and leaves his feet AFTER contact... suspended.
Nash blatantly jumps and nails Kopecky in the back of the head... nothing. Looked like it was a reaction play. Now this one may be the right call but then how can you suspend the others for doing the same thing (other than the Lupul hit which should have been a penalty and not a suspension)?

Smith turns at the end boards at the last second, Glencross who is already committed hits him and is penalized.
There are probably at least 3 dozen examples out there already this season of penalties called on hits where the player being hit is the one to blame or where a guy simply hits a guy "too hard" or "too angrily".

It is starting to get ridiculous. I can give you examples of events exactly the same as these events in the past in which nobody batted an eye over because it is part of the game. The next step is to remove hitting all together and sometimes I wish they would just get it over with quick instead of this slow and painful degradation.
