Agreed. Despite his OT GWG, I feel like I've hardly noticed Weiss. I was hoping he'd have the edge that Fil seemed to lack. Alfredsson seems to constantly want to make the pretty cross ice pass. Don't see how they can put him back at the point at all, after that performance. I'd like to see them try spreading out the attack some:
Forgetting our roster space issues, it'd be nice to see what a lineup like this could do:
Abdelkader - Dats - Franzen
Nyquist- Zetterberg - Alfredsson
Tatar- Weiss - Cleary
Miller - Andersson - Bertuzzi (or Eaves/Tootoo upon their returns)
That would give us at least one body under 30 on each line and I feel like we could play with some more pace.

I feel like something like this gives us the most depth. I don't think Nyquist will instantly make us the best team in the league. But he really is our 3rd most dangerous forward and should be playing at this point.
The one thing I question is going for another center. Z and D play better apart. They are both dominate two-way centers. They have played better apart for years now. So they basically went and got a number two center when they should have got an elite winger, via trade or FA or whatever.
I think Babcock will figure it out pretty soon.

What were you guys watching? lol. We completely dominated that period. We had the puck in their zone the entire time. There was some great movement as well. They got a lucky goal, we missed some chances. If the Wings continue that play they will win this game.

I like Brunner and it's going to be tough seeing him go somewhere else, but he has to do what's right for him financially at his age. With that said, Tatar will be a better replacement anyway imo. eh's a pretty cool guy, more gritty, goes to the net and doesn't afraid of anything. But seriously, i think we'll see more consistency out of Tatar and the third line will probably be better because of him.

Basically you seem to think everyone either sucks or is 'decent'.

So Samuelson is ready to play but Babcock won't give him a nod over the kids and the veteran's who are working hard. I think this is awesome
This needs to be framed and used as a banner on LGWs for the Bab-Bashers to chew on and absorb.

Anybody still criticizing Abdelkader's effectiveness obviously isn't watching the games and is just following point totals. He's never been relied on for points. He creates time and space for his linemates with his forecheck, boardplay and (team leading) hits. This does not always equate to a rocking point total. Bertuzzi doesn't have the legs or the durability to do what Abdelkader does.
For the record I do think it will be beneficial to have Bertuzzi in the lineup.

Boston, sure... but the others? Sure, they have some bigger 4th liners, but in their top six, where's the size? Toronto has Kulemin, Montreal has Pacioretty, Stafford for Buffalo. Generally speaking, those teams are kind of small, and before all of their injuries on defense, Montreal was the best of them. Speed and great passing kill. The puck moves faster than any player can.
Detroit's biggest issue is getting someone with the skill to rush the puck up ice and get it to the forwards. You can have big bodies in front of the net, but that doesn't do much good if you're always in your own zone/cut off in the neutral.
