The fact that the media is even questioning Holland is the start of the pressure he's going to start feeling to be successful
I'd say this is a good thing. A part of me was hoping theyd miss the playoffs so this would happen, but winning 1 game seems to have done it as well.
The whole team seems to understand that we were the worst team in the playoffs. Not really something to brag about; to be the worst of the best

This just in,
Andersson has cleared waivers in the SEL so Holland has decided to sign him to a 5 year contract. NMC.

Season defining game tonight. Hoping the boys play as well as they did in game 3.

So the whole idea of "shutdown" line worked very well from 2007-2013 when Zetterberg was the designated shutdown forward. (Against Getzlaf, Riberio, Crosby, Malkin, Toews, and many others)
1. Because he had the ability to shutdown opposing teams top line.
2. Because his possession was insane to where his line would create offense and score (a lot).
Now I get the idea of Glendenning not being ideal for shutdown because:
1. While he can "shutdown" top line opposition..
2. He has terrible possession and can't generate offense.
Having said all that we don't really have much of a choice because:
1. We don't have a prime Zetterberg type shutdown forward (or a Toews, Koptiar, Bergeron etc etc etc) Not even Zetterberg himself is a Zetterberg.
2. Glendening is all we have in the shutdown role.
We play with the cards we are dealt.
Also to note - the famous "Grind line" was also a shutdown line. Screwed opponents over while scoring a decent amount.

I remember back in the day when Lidstrom had something like 88 points and we played Nashville? in the playoffs. Theyre leading scorer had something around 45 points and I thought it was the funniest thing of all time.

These people get paid millions and millions of dollars annually to shoot a rubber puck into a mesh net; When these same people push for a 3 year contract at 35+ years old (which is not the organizations idea) - they do so knowing the implications early "retirement" will cause - so I have no idea how you can justify leaving after the 2nd year, to go and do the exact same thing somewhere else because you "want to gives back to Russia people".

Stop being emotional, Pavel Datsyuk is not injured or unable to be an effective NHL player... He is literally going to do the exact same thing next season for a different team without caring about the setback it causes the Detroit Red Wings... The same team that signed him in 2001 (when the "Russia people" weren't paying nearly as much money to it's players).

The game against Boston is our biggest one. Its very intereresting because you couldn't ask for 3 better teams to play at the end of the season. All 3 teams are within reach of us in the playoffs and its sort of like a mini playoff. I love it

Kronwall is too slow right now to be covering for Green.
