JKEITH81 0 Report post Posted February 6, 2007 Wow, I had read his name in some rumors, but jeesh I thought Gainey would unload him the way he did Theodore. I think there are some teams desperate enough to take the risk.
Guest GodofHockeyStevieY19 Report post Posted February 6, 2007 (edited) I totally expected this. Samsonov just doesnt fit in Montreal's system. His production just went on a downward spiral since the move to the MTL. A change of scenery is exactly what this guy needs. Because he is extremely talented. I can only hope the Red Wings are able to snag him if the price is right. I forget what his salary is. But that would be such a perfect addition to our system. Man that would be sweet. Either way some team out there is gonna get a great player at this stage of the season. Edited February 6, 2007 by GodofHockeyStevieY19
rick zombo 3,739 Report post Posted February 6, 2007 Montreal must have a trade or two in the works. They have just over 1 million in cap space. Shedding Sergei would be a dream come true for Gainey at this stage. Nashville have 6M in cap space. Don't be suprised they pick him up.
wingslogo19 281 Report post Posted February 6, 2007 Yup i don't think he's really a fit with the habs, nor was he producing much.. I'll pass on him forsure

The price-- $3.5m/year-- is most certainly NOT right for a player who has ~30 points on the year.

Lining up beside Crosby or Malkin would certainly help jump start his offensive game.
swedishconnection 36 Report post Posted February 6, 2007 Toronto anyone? I actually think he might do well in Pittsburgh. Lining up beside Crosby or Malkin would certainly help jump start his offensive game. You could put Liljypads or Blueberry Muffin on that line and the offensive numbers would come. wingfanatic4alltime 32 Report post Posted February 6, 2007 I wouldnt mind seeing samsonov come here but only for a cheaper price as was already stated. Now i dont know the ins and outs of the cap now could the wings pick up samsonov for only the rest of this season and his 3.5 million not counting against the cap as much as it would say in the beginning of the season or is it the same either way. datsyuk_13_fan 0 Report post Posted February 6, 2007 I was wondering when this would happen. I guess Chicago is interested and is trying to do this deal Adrian Aucoin Bryan Smolinski for Samsonov Craig Rivet
Curban915 0 Report post Posted February 6, 2007 I really think he would work good here alot of talent the habs only had like 3 good players, he would be great add on for the playoffs i think, plus maybe he can score in the playoffs unlike Pavel who is going to be askin for 7 mill from what i have read on other blogs sounds like another #91 in the making does great in DET head gets big wants alot of money will leave and will not do alot on any other team. We may need him next year i think he has a chance to be a sure 40 50 point guy a year.
Andy Pred 48 337 Report post Posted February 6, 2007 Sergei Samsonov, LW (MTL) Samsonov's salary (and horrible season) could prevent a deal from happening, however the Habs are trying to package him for a top-level player. Salary: $3,525,000 | Age:
Bliz 0 Report post Posted February 6, 2007 He isn't what the Wings need, so I'd say pass. Somebody'll be willing to take the risk, but please don't let it be Holland.
akustyk 84 Report post Posted February 6, 2007 he hasn't done anything special in a long time. 3,5M$ is a whoping price for such no-show. that's more than what Zetterberg or Schneids are making, and just a tad lower than Lang's money. I can't see Kenny pulling a trade for him. even Kenny would not do something like that. there's muuuuch better options on the market. plus: Samsonov does not anyhow address Wings needs. end of story
Zetter is Better 0 Report post Posted February 6, 2007 If he weren`t asking so much, I`d say go for it, but we are doin well right now (but maybe for the play-offs???)
HockeyCrazy3033 168 Report post Posted February 6, 2007 Damn it, Sammy. WHY MUST YOU MAKE SO MUCH?! I'd LOVE to have him on the Wings. But no way at that price.

NeverForgetMac25 483 Report post Posted February 6, 2007 http://www.hockeybuzz.com/blog.php?post_id=5256 Is there any truth to this? With Eklund, not usually. Take it with a grain of salt. Once in a while something he spits out comes true though.
