Did Trotz throw Hartnell into a pool of sharks?

Well, we all remember reading about Trotz being very upset with Hartnell after he gave the Blues the one finger salute last week. This all has me seriously wondering if Barry, out of some ill will, purposefully put Hartnell out there to get attacked last night. Perhaps the knee on knee hit again irritated him? They had a 3 goal lead with only 1 minute remaining, which we all know, is the most ripe time for fisticuffs in the playoffs. Nashville had LAST change, so Trotz seen that Clowe was out there and probably looking to stir things up. There was no conceivable reason to line up Hartnell next to him, other than trying to force Hartnell into fighting him and getting beat up. Now Tootoo ended up coming to his aid but thats beside the point, the fact that Hartnell was out there in a meaningless situation is the key. Now, if you're going to say that Trotz put him out there just because he we wanted to put a fighting lineup out there to counter Clowe, why wouldnt Nichol, whos smaller but a better fighter than Scott (and much less of a player), have been out there instead? Also, I dont believe Weber was out there either?

trotz and hartnell are known to have never gotten along. there were rumors last season that we were about to trade Hartnell (when we sent the first for Witt). And Trotz has never shied away from calling out Hartnell for boneheaded plays.

The feeling right now is that these playoffs are do-or-die time for Trotz. Win a series and he'll probably keep his job, go out in the first round again and it's questionable. Then we have the issue of Hartnell being a UFA this summer, so most believe that it depends on what happens to Trotz. if he gets fired, then there's a chance we re-sign Hartnell. If Trotz is not fired, then it becomes very unlikely that we try to re-sign hartnell.

Even if he was thrown to the Sharks, his cheap shotting ass made it out without a scratch. He is a punk and needs a beat-down... Tootoo needs his ass beat as well, at least he can handle himself unlike Hartnell.

All that being said, I would take either one of them if the price were right. I love the agitators...

Doesn't the NHL have some kind of stupid rule about puting fighters out in the last minute of the game or something. I remember Harttley got fined for doing something like that before. I can't remember correctly but, I think it was even Eric Boulton who he sent out.

If theres any fines or suspensions for this i will consider boycotting the rest of the playoffs! Clowe had what, 16 goals this year? And from Nashville's side, Tootoo wasnt the initiator.

I hope that Trotz DOES throw Hartnell into a vat of sharks if they visit the L.A. Aquarium when in town for the away games.

Tootoo DID get his ass beat down last night, and boy - did he deserve it. The kid has no respect AND no skill. He shouldnt even be in the NHL. He started punching Clowe in the face to initiate that fight last night, and Clowe was trying to fight Hartnell, he wasnt even paying attention to Tootoo. It was nice to Clowe beat him down despite getting a couple sucker punches at the beginning.

GO SHARKS.

Go away.

Why should he? That seemed like a good post to me from an insider's perspective.

If the Preds dumped Hartnell, then all they'd have to do is get rid of Tootoo and I could almost respect that team. :D

Second harold. I for one never knew that Trotz and Hartnell don't get along. It's a thread on the Preds, why shouldn't one of our Preds ambassadors speak up?

I never knew Trotz and Hartnell never got along. Hartnell is an Edmonton native I believe, so if he doesn't resign with Nashville, expect him to possibly land on with the Oilers.

Of course, we could bring up more rumors of him coming here! In all retrospect, Hartnell could never play for this team. The Wings and Preds are forming a pretty good hate rivalry right now (yeah, I know, it was forced) and it would seem a little awkward for Hartnell to come and play here. Especially after what happened with Fischer. Since Fischer is still around the Wings a lot in the lockeroom and such, that might not be a good idea to bring in Hartnell.

edited for grammar

I never knew that either. How shocking that Hartnell doesn't get along with his coach.

I was actually thinking last night about Trotz and how he said a week or so ago that Scott would be done had he done anything inapproriate again. I imagine after the past couple games that he's on a REALLY short leash. Why doesn't Trotz just bench him? That oughta get the piece of s*** pissed.

Why doesn't Trotz just bench him?

I'm sure he would bench him in an instant... if he weren't a 25 goal guy and the only player on the team who can stand in front of the net and re-direct shots. Arnott could do it, but he's a little more useful playing around the net and using his slapper.

I've thought about that too. With Smyth gone, Edmonton has a need for a power forward and Hartnell would only cost about half as much.
