I hope the Ducks are as overconfident as their fans are. :x

Not all Duck fans are overconfident. I hope you don't find me as unappealing and ignorant as other Duck fans on this board appear to be. I’ve been having an ongoing argument with a diehard RW fan here in SoCal and frankly neither of us feel confident enough to predict the eventual winner of this series.

Some say that the injury to Schneider is going to be the downfall of the Wings in this series. I don’t buy it. To say that the Wing D is soft or is going to be ineffective is just stupid. Even with Schneider out the Wings still have the likely 2007 Norris winner and a solid corps on the blueline.

I see the key to this series to be Todd Marchant. Yep that’s right, Todd Marchant, here’s why.

Since Marchant’s injury the Ducks have basically been a three line team. Our fourth line has been playing 2 to 5 minutes per game. With a healthy Marchant the Ducks may well drop Penner to the fourth line and move May up to the second line. The second line would be Getzlaf, Perry and May and the fourth line would be Marchant, Penner and Thornton. Skill and grit on both lines plus Penner and Marchant have shown some nice chemistry. Also Marchant is nails on the PK. I think he led the team in shorties during the regular season. If Marchant is able to play and has his game legs I think the Ducks take this in 6. If not, who ever wins game 7.

Here’s to a great series.

Good Luck!

*ahem* the team we just beat in six games had some pretty HUGE guys too. They were big, strong, fast and ugly as hell! (especially Cheech :P ) So anyone who thinks that just because anaheim is big that means we're knee deep in s***, they're wrong. Yes, Pronger is an incredible player. Yes, Niedermayer is a stud, and yes, Giguere is a stonewall. But for goodness sakes, they haven't been tested as strongly as the Wings have, and the Wings have won both series like champs. I'm calling Wings in six AGAIN.

Wow. Glad you got the whole series mapped out already!

You are completely underestimating the Wings. Serious weakness on D? That's your first mistake right there. Speed to much for the Wings to handle? Ha.

It's great to see such confidence. A little TOO much though.

Yeah we allowed the least amount of shots on net this year. Our D is fine.

Honestly, I have never beena fan of Lang, not quick enough and lacks hustle.

He did score that great goal in game 4, however, I think he is too overated.

lol - where have I heard that before?

No, Robert Lang is not overrated, he is underappreciated for his efficiency and conservation of energy. He plays everygame with the anticipation that it will go triple overtime, and then when it does he will STRIKE because he has not wasted all that energy in the previous 5 periods by skating to hard. He is a smart man.

We have shown that we can win without schnieds, homer and lebda. I think the play of chlie last night was outstanding. the more ice time you get, the more wonders one player can do to help out while another mate is donw. Wings in 6!

Well I apologize. To us Duck fans, any series that goes further than 4 or 5 games is "the brink."

Really?

Interesting, considering that the ducks havent even made the playoffs 4 of the last 7 years. You didnt take edmonton to "The brink" last year, and the same flames which werent a challenge to us this year took you 7 games to beat last year. You almost won a cup though 4 years ago. Almost. Really close.

The wild and canucks(Save Luongo) were a joke. Your first real test is coming.

It seems that this year is full of playoff revenge.

Calgary-REVENGE PAID IN FULL for 2004.

San Jose-REVENGE PAID IN FULL for 1994.

Anaheim-REVENGE IS COMING for 2003.

and whoever we face will be Dom's Revenge upon the teams he's played for.

I actually kind of feel sorry for the ducks, considering the rude awakining they will recieve. :sly:

How can you say we have not played any physical teams?!?!

How can you say we have a weak blue line?

Your "cockyness" will be your downfall.

the funny thing about stupid predictions like "Duck (sic) in 4" is that we only need to win one game to shut the guy up. Not that he will, just that his credibility will go from zero to negative :P

we swept SJS in 1995.

and we swept anaheim twice before 2003 remember? :P

<_< watch ou tfor robert Lang and Todd Bertuzzi this series. Ducks show-stoppers. They both have been really quiet. Time for a change. I dont doubt the red wings at all. The spirit of Yzerman still here, the leadership of a master (Liddy) intact. Wings in 5. 'nuff said.

Zetz = will have a great series.

Dom = needs to stay in his crease.

Dats = keep oup the good work, show them some new moves.

Homer = make Dino proud.

Drapes = more shorthanded goals please. wings fa life.

Ozzie = would love to see you play, but Dom is dominating.

Langer = now is the time, step it up.

Bertuzzi = read above. we picked you up for a reason. show us why...

Maltby = most underestimated Wing.

Schneids = damnit.

Kron = damnit.

Lebs = you were out, not anymore....

Sammie = sharp as a razor.

Everyone else, sweet s***. Keep it up.

Liddy = your a master. no defenseman better, ever. your team and fans would follow you into a boiling pot of acid.

Yzerman = your there with us.. you made this team. Let's make stevie proud. Stanley'07 for him...

I like the matchup.

Here is how I break it down:

Offense:

Anaheim - Selanne, Getzlaff, McDonald, Kunitz - All offensive threats

Detroit - Datsyuk, Zetterberg, Holmstrom, Lang - All threats

Edge: None

Defense:

Anaheim: Pronger, Niedermayer, Beauchemin

Detroit: Lidstrom, Chelios....

Edge: Ducks due to injury.

Goaltending:

Anaheim: Giguere

Detroit: Hasek

Edge: None

Coaching:

Anaheim: Carlyle

Detroit: Babcock

Edge: Detroit

Intangibles/X-Factor:

Anaheim: Secondary scoring from Perry, Penner, and the return of Marchant.

Detroit: Possible breakout from Bertuzzi. Secondary scoring from Cleary, Samuelsson, and Franzen.

Edge: Eh, I saw Marchant play for 9 years here in Edmonton, and other then his OT goal in Game 7 vs. the Stars, I was never all that impressed.

Perry and Penner could be big, but so could Bertuzzi and Sammy looks really good right about now. Plus, the Ducks had two fairly easy opponents in rounds One and Two. Lets face it, other then Luongo - the Canucks rolled over in that series. And as for the Wild, they showed up for a period or two in that whole series. This could either be beneficial for the Ducks in the sense that they are well rested, but I could also see it hurting them - the Wings have had two hard series, and they might be banged up - but they are working like a well oiled machine right now, and they could take the Ducks by surprise early on. Saying all that, I would give the edge to the Wings in that department.

I say(*hope*) Wings in 6.

you may be right but i can say the same thing about you

Go ahead and say it. Last time I checked this was Letsgowings.com, not disney.com.com

So how many threads do we have started from Ducks fans? Wasn't there a Welcome Ducks Fans thread already started.

I would love to have a healthy Todd Marchant in this series to compete with Detroit's unrelenting bench (yes, there are a few Ducks fans who can say that Detroit is deep and plays excellent defense). I think the reality is that Marchant has a huge role to fill, entering in the postseason after being absent for so long. We could really use the defense however, because Niedermayer and Pronger are not Superman against the four lines of Detroit.

Hopefully Pahlsson plays well again this series, because we need our other role players to step up to deal with the talent of Detroit.

Ive made separate predictions for each series, but now I am just going to stick with my first prediction for the playoffs: Wings win every series in 6 games.

Anaheim is an awesome team. No cockiness, I just believe - and not that cliche bullcrap that people throw out there - I actually believe this team will take it all the way.

Well Marchant will be back in the lineup 100% sure for game 1, and you are forgetting Jackman will also be in the lineup, as he is healthy as well. Two extra key pieces to our team who will give the wings a reason why they wont skate right by us. Cant wait for Marchant to get back in the lineup i miss his forecheck alot, but with him back in the mix we shouldnt have a problem winning. And what you talking about man?, the Robby line is stepping up big man, i think your forgetting the game winning goal against the nucks dude. All our lines are working hard, and we are getting everything we need out of all of them.

During the Sharks series, I lurked on their message forums to read their views.

I had 0 <zero> interest in subscribing and making posts... it was just fun to read, watching their egos deteriorate at every loss.

By game 5 they were firing the entire team and rebuilding from scratch. Not to mention searching for new GM. They were down right feeling hopeless when the series was 2-2.

Anyone know where I can read the Ducks fans fall apart?

Now ive always liked the WIngs, and my favorite player was Steve Yzerman. Even wear his number when playing hockey and have the Red WIngs team signed jersey from 2002, but my Ducks will win this series I believe.

The absence of Schneider will cost the Wings dearly. I just cant see the WIngs beating the Ducks in this series.

The Ducks are ready and well prepared, and are on mission. Ive seen every Wings games this postseason, and the Ducks speed is going to catch the Wings offguard. The Red Wings blueline is considerably slow, with the exception of Lebda and maybe Lidstrom. In my opinion, and you guys may not agree, but I think that the long passes the Ducks make in this series from blueline to blueline will really hurt the Wings. The defensive positioning of the Wings defensemen I think will cost the Wings the series. If the Wings fall down early like they did in the first 5 games in the San Jose series, mark my words, they will not pull out the wins like they did against San Jose in games 2 and 4.

The Wings defense has serious weaknesses. Pahlsson is the most underrated player in the NHL, IMO.

And watch out for this player I mention to you guys. His name is Ryan Getzlaf. He wil be the difference maker in this series.

I'll be at the games here in Orange County

Predicting Ducks in 6.

However, as odd as this may sound to some of you, I wouldnt be surprised if the Ducks end up sweeping this series.

Good luck

I think you have a good team to root for and wish you luck. The D's slow huh? Well apart for the fact that the Ducks are a solid Orginization you fans don't follow suit. Going on the opposing teams fans website and posting these comments is stupid considering these teams have not played game 1 yet. You sound like a Sharks fan to me, and we just seen what happened to there extremely talented Orginization. I'm not going to comment on what I think is going to happen in this series, but I will say I think your comments aren't even close. I mean will someone explain to me how to argue with someone who knows nothing about hockey? Do you even know what icing is, or do you just cheer for goals? " Watch out for Ryan Getzlaf " Do you really think we don't know who he is? Understand that we are intelligent HOCKEY fans and Redwing fans. We know the people in the game and what they bring to there teams. Thats as ludacrus as me asking you if you know who Todd Bertuzzi is. Get a clue buddy. Its the playoffs, everyone is expected to perform at the top of there abilities. Pahlssons underated? Guess what? This is where players make a name for themselves... We got some fellas like that too. Tell me Cleary ain't getting his respect. I'm trying to be as classy as possible, perhaps you should go to your respected website and do the same. Truth is were not mad at you for what you say, so I'll end this with a fu@k you but have a nice day.
