Matt 1,049 Report post Posted May 24, 2007 I forgot to also add that coming next season I think we'll do more ticket contests (and other memorabilia) since those were a resounding success even when there was no lead time before they started and games (sometimes) were the next day. I think it was a huge hit. The other thing I wanted to mention was how GREAT it was to meet so many regular members here over the past year or so. I'm sure I'll be short on this list, but it includes: vladdy16, VladyIBELIEVE16, Rival, rage, Jedi, betterREDthandead, timothy1997, Vladiator, HOCKEY MATTERS, SouthernWingsFan, Muse, NeverForgetMac#25, WildWing44, rossco, auxlepli, and more I'm sure. Good times were had for New Year's following the Wings game at Cobo Joe's, the Rose Bowl gathering, Cheli's Chili, the Yzerman retirement ceremony and several regular season Wings games and a handful of Playoff game-watching at my place -- it was fun! If we can get a large enough group assembled here locally I'm sure we could work out something with a centrally-located bar where a large contingent of us could close the place down. And thanks to those SoCal Wings fans, especially VladyIBELIEVE16, who made sure to spread the word among the Hocketown expatriates while infiltrating all three of the Anaheim home games for this playoff run! Thank you all!

Thank you all! Thanks Godfaddah, it's my pleasure. I can't tell you how exciting it was to pass out the LGW.com business cards to admiring Wings fans. We are used to taking crap in the Ponda center and it's a nice feeling to have that common bond of others who love the Wings with the same utmost passion. I will tell you I was floored at the treatment at the Ponda durng this round. In Game 6 - people were throwing things at us- and we were sitting watching the game and then just jumping up when we (FINALLY) scored late in the game. UGH. I am thinking about returning for the New Years Eve game in 2007/08 and potentially organizing something where maybe we all meet at the Joe for one specific weekend game or something. I miss you guys...and I can't wait to come back. I'll work on my Red Wings Nation West here- I already got pm'ed by one person I met at Game 4 and I also met a few new people at Game 4 and 6. I'm looking forward to many other RWNW Events. For now, I'd also like to mention I may be doing a post season barbeque in the next few weeks (probably after the Finals are officially over and we've had some time to breathe). I can't wait til next season - meeting all of you is what makes this so great. RED WINGS NATION UNITE!! Thanks Matt again and everyone here, it's such an amazing place and it's always felt like a huge privilege to be a part of it. Let's Go RED WINGS!!! betterREDthandead 58 Report post Posted May 24, 2007 Is there a hockey team anywhere in the world that has as passionate and dedicated a following across the continent and around the globe, as the Detroit Red Wings? Just think, this is where it all comes together. Thanks for everything, Matt!

Opie 308 Report post Posted May 24, 2007 I got to admit I am part of Red Sox nation and I will tell you that is the only group of fans that are more serious, devoted, and psycho about their team. Atleast the sox fans had 86 years of s***ty seasons to make them crazy, wings fans are just nuts about their hockey team even with success over the last 75 years!!! Matt 1,049 Report post Posted May 24, 2007 if was my rookie year run here and i loved it, just a shame the show had to end early. Oh, believe me, the end of this year was -- outside of a Cup win -- the best it could be. You wouldn't have wanted to be around for the first-round ousters, SUPER-FANTASTIC GOALIE WAR I and SUPER-FANTASTIC GOALIE ARMAGEDDON II over the past several seasons. EastLansingNative 1 Report post Posted May 24, 2007 LGW ROCKS! Thanks to everyone responsible, Matt, moderators, posters, and everyone inbetween. I'm a RWNW member now, and hope to meet more LGW'ers in person someday soon. Keep up the great work!
motorcitykid 42 Report post Posted May 24, 2007 Anyone who's a Wings fan drops in here daily. I even have the site bookmarked as my homepage. There is no other site that can compare to LGW, for both Wings talk and hockey talk. Not one.

Thank you all! It was also great to meet the man behind the mask as well the few times I have been up here, as well as getting to meet your significant other and one of the two kiddies. Daughter 1.0 is adorable, and I have little doubt 2.0 is just as cute, even though I wasn't able to see her the last go-round. I've also enjoyed putting some of the faces with the names as well, a few that have been quoted above. I've also enjoyed putting the face to the name of that SouthernWingsFan character, he's such a handsome dude. Oh wait, that's me! Glad we were able to attend and see a helluva rally against St. Louis in December Matt in that OT win. Hell, I'm just glad I got to see A win that game and against Toronto. I thought I was getting to be bad luck Seeing the Wings play like moosefarts the first time I came up the season before against St. Louis and Toronto, not to mention seeing the Fischer incident live. I really knew how to pick the games then! Seriously, I have enjoyed the few times I've been up, and the few members I have been able to meet. Hopefully I'll make another go-round next season. Ah, the "Ultimate Goalie Thread." Good times. No it wasn't! *Has bad flashbacks* Edited May 24, 2007 by SouthernWingsFan

Shockwave180 0 Report post Posted May 25, 2007 Letsgowings is the schiznitz!!! Ha! That brings back memories of LGW circa 2003, when a little-known poster named SouthernWingsFan first broke onto the scene. Little did we know he'd become the rockstar he is today. Seriously, as a fan of almost every sport known to man, I've seen so many fansites come and go since I first stumbled onto LGW in 1999. That this site not only still exists but continues to improve every year is a a real testament, Matt. Congrats on another year. As the Beatles once said, "It's getting better...A little better all the time."
