University of Michigan - The upset - The future

I think Michigan is either going to completely blow Oregon to all hell by at least 30 pts....or lose. No in- between. It'll be pretty intriguing to see how they react after the loss, but this will be the last Michigan game i'll have any interest in till probably Ohio St. (or unless MSU happens to be unbeaten at the time they play)

Time to forget about the greatest upset ever talk, not only was it not that, but it actually appears Appalachian St was the better team all along.

If I don't post in a few days it is because I jumped off a cliff, or dropped the hair dryer in the bathtub....just giving you the heads up.

Just think about the future. It sucks but in the long run this has all but assured Carr is gone after this season...and thats good news. I feel 100% certain that he'll "resign" (put the " " because he'll be pushed out by the university). The school needs to act at the end of this season and bring in a new coach before it kills their recruiting. Dont continue to hang on and sink like other big name school's have done. They are no different than Florida St...if it can happen to them it can happen to anyone. Theres some really good coaches out there that might jump at the Michigan job, just because a guy like Schiano denied Miami, doesnt mean he wouldnt come here if given a lucrative offer. They really need a new, younger face to take over. Carr's engine has blown.

Also hopefully this start will help speed up Mallett's devolpment for next year, as he's almost assured to start getting some game action now i would think. That experience will go a long way.

I am in total shock. I am a Spartan fan and even I thought that Michigan was the team to beat and have a very good chance at the National Championship. I honestly right now am wondering if my school Eastern Michigan has a shot against Big Blue in a few weeks. Why noy!?!?!

0-3 Here we come.....

And as far as I see the schedule playing out...

Appalachian State L

Oregon L

Notre Dame L

Penn State L

at Northwestern W

Eastern Michigan W

Purdue W

at Illinois W

Minnesota W

at Michigan State L

at Wisconsin L

Ohio State L

The only W's I put are for games i'm confident that we will win.....even with Mallett at QB

Michigan is 0-4 since Bo died.

Michigan has returned to how they were without Bo.... :puke:

Greg Schiano is a jersey boy. You can never say 100% that someone will or won't change schools, but I don't see him leaving.

Anyway...what's up with Greg Matthews kicking a Oregon player in the balls?

I honestly thought this game would be a blow out, I just didn't expect Michigan to be on the receiving end of it.

If you can't beat Notre Dame or Michigan State, I don't think you'll beat Purdue either.

Just make it easy for you.

Come on 630 yards isn't a lot to have given up after the first two games.

What's that you say, that was just the Orgeon game? Oh...umm in that case....

Actually, as much as it sucks, this is a good thing. Michigan's defense has always been built to play against the Big Ten. The Big Ten does not typically have mobile quarterbacks and spread offenses...Ohio State is the only team that has really been utilizing this system in recent years. Michigan's defense has been weak against those things for a while now, and combined with the young talent and inexperience Michigan was totally exposed against it. This embarrassment will mean that, with or without Lloyd Carr, Michigan will start recruiting kids and changing the defense so that it CAN play against the spread offenses.

Also....Packer. Michigan's 7-5 season would have been an 8-4 season with a bowl victory if the Alamo Bowl hadn't used Sun Belt referees. Tyler Ecker would have scored a touchdown on the final play had Nebraska not used an innovative 60-man backfield that forced him to run down the sidelines and get shoved out of bounds.

But Michigan did lose that game. Michigan finished that year 7-5.

Sorry, guys. :( I read this morning that there are calls for the coach to step down. Do you think that will happen?

Admittedly, I don't pay much attention to any sport not involving a puck and a stick, but I did notice that Texas won yesterday. I noticed, mainly because SWF was there as a TCU grad (sorry, Jack...)

Hope the season turns around for you Michigan fans.

I thought it looked like Matthews was trying to kick the Oregon players knee against the joint. But who cares, It still was a cheap move.
