You know, I thought this game was gonna be a blowout and figured I'd be able to suffer through a half and then put the Christmas lights up... Then they actually RAN the ball all over the field, got a lead... and I was hooked.

But as soon as that Hanson field goal went wide right I said to myself "I've seen this before"....

... sure enough.

I fell in the reverse trap. I watched some holiday movies (ELF today) and just kept tabs thru the game saying "not gonna get involved, not gonna get involved". Turns out I was on the edge of my seat at the 4th quarter and as soon as the fg went wide, I thought that I just saw this happen last monday when the Ravens could not put the Pats away. I felt sick for even giving this team my somewhat brief attention and total attention in the 4th. I want my time wasted back!!

Typical Lions. Let's not fall on the ball ENSURING VICTORY. No, makes too much sense. Instead let's try to pick the ball up and run it back at the same time.

Big effort by the boys today...

.....

....

:rotflmao:

We're guaranteed losing to KC next week...which is really pathetic. But theyve officially mailed it in

You know, if the Lions were going to lose 10 games again this year, they at least should've had the decency to not get off to such a hot start, so we could've been treated to the Fire Millen chants and signs showing up all over the nation at different venues. That was one of the great developments of last year. Nothing like flipping on a freaking Arizona Diamondbacks game and seeing a "Fire Millen" sign in the front row behind home plate.

I wonder if there's going to be a campaign for people to wear red to next weekend's game like there was with Cincy & orange a couple years ago.

I'm not a Lions fan--and I say this without any sarcasm whatsoever...I truly feel bad for you guys. The city of Detroit has great fans, and you deserve a lot better than this mickey mouse organization. It's amazing that they still sell out games with the turd sandwich they've been asking you all to choke down for the last 50 years (with a few exceptions). It speaks to the quality of fans in Michigan.

As expected. The Lions get absolutely crushed today by the Packers. No surprise here. Im just glad the horror show is over. Now we can think about next year and another losing season...

At first I liked Mike Martz. But the guy has to go. A team cannot consistently score and win without balance. You can't just chuck the ball 90% of the time.

Best news is there are 6 other 7-9 teams besides the Lions and we lose the strength-of-schedule tiebreaker to each and every one of them. Almost.....we tie with Chicago and whether we get the 13th or 14th pick will depend on a coin flip. So, who should the Lions look at? Will Mario Manningham be available, or will someone like Limas Sweed or Early Doucet be there? Maybe Devin Thomas will come out early? Or perhaps Greg Orton, who looked mighty impressive once already in Ford Field.

Objectively speaking, the way this season turned out is probably better than if the Lions had muddled their way to a 7-9 record by starting out 3-5. If they'd done that, we'd be talking about what wonderful progress they'd made and getting all complacent. Instead they decided to give us one of their patented 1-7 streaks and now nobody's satisfied, again. 7-9 looks a lot worse when you used to be 6-2.

Apparently, drinking the Kool-Aid this year turned out just as badly as the last time I guzzled Kool-Aid at a party.....had a great time, was working all the right angles.....and then the load of bricks fell and I ended up barfing my intestines out into the bushes and passing out on the s***ter. Worst three hours of my life. Kind of the same as a six-game losing streak. Kansas City was even kind enough to provide the recovery beer.

Yeah at least now, having finished 1-7, theres at least a 2% chance Millen will be out that we can hang our hopes on! Had they finished 5-3, it would be 0. I'd love to get Cowher so we could get some Pittsburgh boys in here, theyve always been noted for having good running games and a good line! My other dream has been Jimmy Johnson coming in here, but hell you know who i'd be thrilled to get thats alot more realistic? The dude from Atl that got fired, ...came over from Tampa after the Super Bowl win....cant remember his name! Rich Mckay i think.

Fire Millen > Hire Cowher as GM > Fire Marinelli > Hire Russ Grimm as Head Coach

Problem solved! Who wouldve thought it was that simple! ;)

Missed one important step.

Ford: Sell team to Ilitch, then you can Fire Millen and go along your plan.

Exactly. As long as the Ford family owns the Lions, they're gonna continue to be a joke in this league. Whether it be Ilitch or whoever. Someone else needs to own this team. The Fords obviously don't give a rats ass about the Lions having any sort of success. They showed that by letting Millen stay year after year.

I might be mistaken, but in order for Ilitch to buy the Lions he would need to ask the NFL for a waiver to own another sports franchise.

I think only one other owner in the league owns a team outside of the NFL.

I thought you can own as many teams as you want as long as you dont own two in the same league or sport.

So Martz is out, and the Lions have promoted Jim Colletto AND Kippy Brown to take his place. Colletto will carry the titles of offensive coordinator and offensive line coach, and Brown will be assistant head coach, passing game coordinator, wide receivers coach, and running backs coach.

In essence, there will be two offensive coordinators. One, only the Lions could manage to screw up with a Super Bowl-winning offensive coordinator, and two, only the Lions would hire two people to screw up the offense instead of just one.

Frickin' Mickey Mouse organization.

I usually avoid all things Lions - but I was curious to see what kind of folks could brave being Lions fans....

This is one organization that doesn't deserve fans - I'm all for sticking with your team through tough times - but that is just an understatement in this case.

Totally lame move by the Lions - fire Martz and everything will be OK - rotflmao -

I truly feel sorry for the people I know that cling to hope - I'll be happy for them if by some miracle before they die - the Lions actually are even a *good* team.

It just boggles my mind how such a great sports town can have 3 great professional sports franchises - and one that vies for the worst in the sports world.

It boggles my mind even more that the radio spends time talking about them - they're not worth the CO2 that is spent during the conversation.

Sorry to be so negative to you die-hards, but you'd be better off just getting rid of the Lions and starting a new NFL franchise from scratch.....

can't do that. if you pick a different team, then one of 2 things can happen. you pick a good team and then you are just jumping on the bandwagon... no loyalty whatsoever, get with the cool people so it makes you look cool. pick a bad team, and then you are in the same situation you are in with the lions.

however, stick with the lions and if and when they do actually get successful, you can say, " I was a lions fan before it was cool"
