Wings_Dynasty 267 Report post Posted October 8, 2007 According to Holland, either Ellis or Downey will replace Franzen. That means no Grigorenko tonight.

HenrikRules40 14 Report post Posted October 8, 2007 If the Wings don't win this game, and in convincing fashion, I think they should cease operations for this season (and maybe next). A preemptive panic attack. I love it. My prediction: Z's gonna have at least one point. Duh.
GMRwings1983 8,803 Report post Posted October 8, 2007 According to Holland, either Ellis or Downey will replace Franzen. That means no Grigorenko tonight. Since Holland said it, it also means no Downey tonight. How about an Ellis-Kopecky-Samuelsson line.

VM1138 1,921 Report post Posted October 8, 2007 It's clear that people are reading too much into the loss to Chicago. However, there are lessons to be learned. Hasek needs to be a little better, and our other lines need to start producing more. Cleary has had a couple of chances, and the other lines get close, but they need to finish the deal each time they drive the net.
RedWingsFanatic 4 Report post Posted October 8, 2007 (edited) Ted Kulfan is reporting that Ellis will get the open forward spot tonight. He will fill in for Filppula, who will move up to play with Datsyuk and Holmstrom. I am very excited to see the Holmstrom/Datsyuk/Filppula line. GMRwings1983 8,803 Report post Posted October 8, 2007 Ted Kulfan is reporting that Ellis will get the open forward spot tonight. He will fill in for Filppula, who will move up to play with Datsyuk and Holmstrom. I am very excited to see the Holmstrom/Datsyuk/Filppula line. So, Ellis is back in the lineup again. I can't wait to see him and Kopecky play their "dump and don't chase" strategy while they're on the same line. God, if only Langfeld were still here.
RedWingsFanatic 4 Report post Posted October 8, 2007 It's funny, even though Ellis played in a wealth of games last season, I honestly have no recollection of him. I guess that can either be looked at as a good or a bad thing. He hasn't done anything to distinguish himself, good or bad. I don't know, I think I might be inclined to go with Downey here for a bit. I mean, it can't hurt. Give him a shot and if he gets in the way, stick in Ellis. Anyway, the Oilers are a very intriguing team. It has become in fashion to look them over, and I can certainly understand that temptation, but I think they will certainly challenge for a playoff spot. They are off to a nice start and always seem to play well against the Wings, so tonight should be fun. It's nice to have Sheldon Souray in the Western Conference, as I have hardly had the opportunity to watch him play. The big thing for the Wings tonight, and moving on, will be the ability to score at even strength. Scoring on the power play is great, but not being able to score 5-on-5 is deadly. It's still very early, but they need to get going on that front.
Shy Ranger 0 Report post Posted October 8, 2007 I'm guessing the SO streak will continue. 3-3 after three with a Wings victory in the SO 2-1. Detroit (game): Filppula, Cleary, Lidstrom Edmonton (game): Staios, Hemsky, Torres Detroit (SO): Datsyuk, Zetterberg Edmonton (SO): Horcoff Also, I've seen this Aflac GDTs before - yet they are a true joy in person. Excellent!
Z and D for the C 712 Report post Posted October 8, 2007 (edited) Definitely excited for the Homer/Datsyuk/Flip line. I've always been a fan of Filppula and it should be cool to see with with Datsyuk as they seem to play a similar style. Lidstromrules16 7 Report post Posted October 8, 2007 Since babs puts filp on first line, I wonder why he doesnt throw huddles down to third line and put filp with zetterberg when Franzen returns. It really doesn tmatter though, I think hudler and filp have pretty comparitive playin styles

It really doesn tmatter though, I think hudler and filp have pretty comparitive playin styles i believe flip is a natural center and babs wants to try him on his own line, strength down the middle and all that ...
