Only problem with Kovalchuk is he cant play defence, but I suppose playing him with Zetterberg would be perfect. He certainly has showed he isnt a *****, he fought Avery in the playoffs last year, and now Stafford.

I should have added that to the list of misconceptions. He can and does defend fairly well, considering how he looked when he first broke into the league. As an 18 year-old I might add. He's not going to win a Selke, but few do anyway. He wouldn't be my first choice to kill penalties, but not because he can't, but because we've got a stable full of guys that can do it. Though if we were down in the 3rd and had to kill a penalty I wouldn't hesitate to toss him and Z or Pavel out there and see if they can score one.

Just like everyone to know that as of right now Drake leads the league in fighting majors! Who would have thought it.

Exactly. Yet, over at hockeyfights forums, WIngs fans are STILL bitching about no one dropping the gloves. It's like, ummm, ya wanna maybe watch the screen during a game. So far I can tell we're looking more feisty. And we're actually seeing red gloves hit the ice. It's been great. Especially Drake's last bout. He was throwing some massive bombs. Man I love that.

Me too...Too bad @ the tender age of 38 (read sarcasm) he's the only guy to do this on a reg basis; I agree with KP-Wings - have Kopecky sit in the press box, & dress Downey.

Absolutely. IMO there is no excuse not to dress Downey over Ellis. Ellis brings NOTHING more to the table than any of our current starters. Yet we all know Downey brings something that almost no Red Wing has. And that's the ability to stick up for teammates and drop the gloves. And be successful at that. Downey>>>Ellis any day of the week.

Kovalchuk vs Stafford

Ilya sees a knee on knee and goes after Lydman. Gets pounced on by Stafford and then off they come. It's crazy how long the lazy, selfish, floater tag has been on Kovalchuk. He's a gamer, and according to most Thrasher fans there is no one on the team that cares about winning and losing more than him. I'd kill to have him on the Wings somehow. He is exactly what we are missing. A big, fast, dynamic, physical, goal- scoring winger.

Big props to Kovie for sticking up for his teammate.

I was just about to post this but I'm late to the party. How cool is this? Awesome.

Wow, who would have thought?

Drake is quickly becoming my new favorite Red Wing... for obvious reasons, of course. :P

You gotta love the Harry Neale's quote in that clip " I watched Kovalchuk shadow box and the shadow won everytime." The Buffalo announcers are always entertanning, I do not get to hear them much though. The play-by-play guy always calls a great game.

McGrattan-Orr easily the best fight of the young season. Two heavies throwing non-stop bombs. Outstanding!

Koci and Barch just went, refs broke it up ridiculously prematurely, not sure if it was a jersey issue. The new jerseys are not cutting it when it comes to fighting techniques.

Colton Orr Vs Brian McGrattan was amazing! I was up on my feet during that scrap. At first, I was suprised to see Orr handling McGrattan like that, but then during the middle to the end of the fight, it was clear that McGrattan got the upper hand. Although, I wouldn't argue with anyone who thinks it was a draw. Cause it was pretty close. But IMO, I give McGrattan the slight edge. Awesome bout!

The bad blood from last season carried over in the Ducks-Wild game tonight. Three fights, including Brad May losing but holding up surprisingly well against Boogaard. Parros fought Boogaard too, and it looked like a solid draw, maybe even a tiny edge to Parros.

Boogaard was in the middle of all kinds of stuff, with a late hit on Bertuzzi, who left the game. I didn't see it, but Boogey apparently started some s*** during the pregame skate (!) by elbowing Pronger in the back of the shoulder.

I won't miss the next game between these two teams.

Let me guess, that s***head Pronger probably skated away and hid behind Parros and May when Boogaard did that to him.

How about Taylor friggin Pyatt earning at minimun a solid draw with Ivanans last night? :o Thats one of those moments where i dont know what to take from it. Either Ivanans looked like s***, or Pyatt was so inspired by the fact he was sticking up for Sedin...similar to someone heroicly lifting up a car! Pyatt's fought before, but this just surprised the s*** outta me. Ivanans isnt exactly the greatest heavyweight in the world, but anything other than him killing Pyatt is a huge upset! You could even make a case that he got the edge, but i'll go with draw.

What about the Lucic/Tarnasky fight? That was a good ol' fashioned ass whooping. I had to watch it over and over laughing at the domination. Unbelievable this kid is only 19 years old.

Best fight of the season so far, he threw like 6 rights in a row that connected, took a left, fired 3 more lefts, and took down Tarnasky, I've liked Lucic ever since he started playing for the Vancouver Giants, but I started to LOVE Lucic when he played in the Super Series and fought one of there players after getting jabbed with a stick in the croutch. I just find it funny he's from Canada and he's name is Milan :P , maybe Holland would be interested  .

Anybody catch Belak vs. Koci fight during Toronto and Chicago game tonight? Great fight both ways. I give the edge to Koci because he had more punches, but Belak actually bloodied Koci from a few good punches to the face. I'll try to get the video up later if anyone missed it.

Brashear and Laraque went! And the shocker is, it wasn't a hug-fest. Laraque was controlling the fight and feeding lefts to Brashear, but after they went down (and credit to the refs for letting them get back up and continue), Brashear recovered and appeared to land a KD punch.

Damn good scrap between two guys not know for opening up.

I can't believe those 2 guys actually had a good fight for a change. Gotta give the edge to Laraque despite the knockdown by Brashear at the end. Laraque knocked Brashear down several times and controlled most of the fight.

I have to give it to Brashear via TKO, but Laraque is still the #1 fighter. I already have had Brash at #2 for a long while, but it was definitely a shaky 2. This victory solidifies it.
