10/20 GDT: Red Wings 5, Phoenix Coyotes 2

Since so many seem to not like predictions, and so many do like them, what would the mods think if we started a seperate "predictions for tonight's game" thread. Then those of us who like them could have our fun and those who don't wouldn't have to see them. Mods?

Back to topic:

I was surprised to see Kopecky in the top second line. I was even more surprised to see Hudler fall to the bottom. At least they have Sammy to shoot the puck ;)

I hope they are thinking that Huds and Ellis will work well together, which is a possibility, rather than this being a sign that Huds is not working out.

(Don't look if you don't like predictions: Wings 4, Yotes 2.)

I lke your idea. I don't think it reall takes the brass to make that decision. We can just start a differant thread for the predictions...

I think the main reason Huds was dropped to line 4 was to give him a kick in the butt. In my opinion he has been almost non existant thus far. Kope has really been moving the puck well and raised some eyebrows last game, he is not top 6 material though.

I think we should rally behind Dom tonight to get his game on....

My prediction: I'll tell you later if I'm right. :P

I know Drake is out, but was there any word how long he could be gone?

Keys to the game

Score early and from different lines - Yes, the Coyotes are a poor team, but it never hurts to get that lead as quickly as possible. Also, we need to get better production from lines that aren't spelled DZH. Hopefully some of the boys can revive their offensive spark tonight in the desert.

Learn to HOLD the lead - This is not a new problem, but it is one the boys need to learn to correct, and that is sitting on the heels after getting a lead, and then subsequently blowing it. It's already happened twice in Chicago, and both those games were winnable for Detroit. I simply DO NOT want to see the same thing happen VS Phoenix.

Don't know if I'll be around to post during the game, so if I don't see you guys tonight, enjoy the action!

"p.s. your post didn't contribute anything" You might be correct "Lets Go Pavel," but does 10 or 15 people giving their prediction contribute anything? Is it informative or explanatory in any way?! How about discussions centering on players, tactics, records etc. instead of someone's fantasy of what's going to happen. Here's my latest prediction: a hat trick by the fat guy in row 17, section 7 - that's as worthwhile as all the predictions I read here: NOTHING!

no, they don't contribute anything meaningful, but they are fun ... ultimately people come to this site because they enjoy it, and obviously based on the immense # of predictions every GDT people enjoy doing that ... that doesn't make them idiotic ... we have plenty of informative and explanatory threads, and plenty of discussions on players, lineups, trades, and everything else you can think of ... most are serious, and some are taken too seriously, but what's the harm of a fun one that people enjoy? there's worth in that ... and i don't think anyone would object to a separate thread for predictions if the main gripe is that it bogs down the GDT ...

anyway, to the game, i agree that hopefully the 4th line demotion gets huddles moving, but i don't know that he'll get much going with ellis and downey ... i'm counting on a big game from dom though, it is phoenix after all ...

25 to 1 Wings

everybody scores at least once

"wasteful posts that don't contribute anything. Please limit talk in the GDT to constructive opinions and observations on the game at hand - that's what the GDT is for."

I really don't think that your interminable and idiotic predictions fit the guidelines mentioned above!

CONSTRUCTIVE OPINIONS AND OBSERVATIONS, NOT SOPHOMORIC SLOP! Take your predictions back to the schoolyard and leave this site free for substantive matters.

lol..please remove from from orophice

55fan, I think that's a great idea! As soon as I see Aflac's next GDT I'll register a Game Time Predictions thread.

I'm gonna say Hank and Cleary, and maybe Draper get a hat-trick. Nick and Lilja cane get goals too. Lilja can get an assist on all of the Hat-trick goals.

I want him to f-ing score!!! That reminds me, I really liked how he blocked the shot that would have gone in because Ozzie left the net wide open. :D

Good to have Sammy back, and that Rafalski is okay.

Wings dominate tonight. 6-2 win. Dom is back to his normal self.

Goals: 2 by Kopay, Cleary, Huds, Flip, Downey

*I would so love it if all of the above scored. Especially those that don't have one yet*

GO WINGS!!!

Why oh why does this game start so late...

I can't see why the Wings would lose this one - Zetts is on fire, Dats ain't too shabby and as long as one or two other players can also get in a fluke/skill goal then we're good to go. I just hope a game comes a long soon that I'll actually be able to watch. I guess I could start going to bed early and get up early to watch the game but how likely is that to happen?

Yes, but if both Kopecky and Downey score in the same game, then we might have a war on LGW that will go on for weeks.

:D

No s*** right? How the hell is Kopecky on the second line? Him Ellis and Downey on the 4th line makes more sense. Oh well...

esteef

I guess early in the season is a better time to do experimenting than later....

Well.... As much as I would like to see the Wings put a 9 spot on Phoenix, I'm not so sure its going to be that easy!! Just a week ago Phoenix put up 6 on Nashville in Nashville. I am kinda worried about this game, I don't know why, but I feel that it is one of those last game on the trip, and the boys are eager to get home!! I hope I'm wrong!!! GO WINGS!!! GO BLUE!!!! :siren:

Ahaha come on! Its 7pm local time for me....don't you know about time zones?

Anyway, this should be a rout. Anyone else going to the game?
