BlakChamber 8 Report post Posted January 19, 2008 Anyone else think they gave Nate a lot of money? Considering that Gil Meche got 5 years 55 million and Carlos Silva got 4 years 48 million, I think Nate's contract is reasonable for a guy who will get between 12-15 wins (maybe more with good run support) is a lefty, and can eat up a lot of innings. It is a lot of money to pay a 5th starter, but that's just the reality of baseball today. I don't think the Tigers could have gotten anyone better for the money they gave Nate. eva unit zero 271 Report post Posted January 19, 2008 Once again, Trammell and Morris aren't elected to the Hall of Fame. What a joke. I've given up complaining about it. Even though Trammell was just as good as Ripken and Smith, and those guys were locks, Tram gets no respect.

You must be jooking. No way is Tram as good as Ripken or Smith. Tram is a good player but he is not hall of fame worthy. Worthy of votes but not enough to get in. Morris on the other hand, deserves to be in.

Worthy of votes but not enough to get in. Morris on the other hand, deserves to be in. Both of them should be in. I may have exaggerated slightly when putting Tram next to Ripken...but he was as good as Smith or Ryne Sandberg, and better than Luis Aparicio, Pee Wee Reese, Phil Rizzuto to name a few who are in. Tram belongs in the Hall. Morris was clutch, but what hurts him is that he would be the HOFer with the highest ERA. People look at that and think 'well, maybe he's not really a HOFer' and that costs him votes. I don't think Morris is more deserving than Tram, though. Nobody ever looked at Ozzie Smith's stats and said, "jeez, he'd be the HoFer with the worst offensive stats across the board, I wonder if he's really worthy." Nope. They said "ZOMG BACKFLIPS!" and voted his ass in, pronto. And Jack Morris should be a f'ing lock. Of the 10 "most similar" per baseballreference, 6 are HoFers. Pity Maggs didn't decide to press charges. Hope his book flops. Yea, part of me says press charges but the other part says it's not worth all the hassle and bulls*** Mags would have to go through. Better for him to focus on being one of the best ball players in the league right now.
