orangegoalie 0 Report post Posted November 22, 2007 Tonight on ESPN News Barry Melrose gave his top players in the league. Number three was Ozzie. That the wings were "lucky ozzie decided to come back to the organization" WOW (from melrose?) anyway i was wondering if anyone had or could get a clip of it. id really appreciate it! Thanks LGW'ers! AND WOW OZZIE BETTER GET TO THE ALL-STAR GAME CAUSE HES TEARING IT UP!
Echolalia 2,961 Report post Posted November 22, 2007 another favor to those out there: does anyone have Osgood's rankings for any significant stats compared to those all-time? I know there are a couple that he is closing in on, but I would like a compilation of as many of his "good" stats as possible. Wikipedia let me down.

Offsides 21 Report post Posted November 22, 2007 AND WOW OZZIE BETTER GET TO THE ALL-STAR GAME CAUSE HES TEARING IT UP! Yay! Yes, he better get picked to be in. Well glad finally someone knows what we already know...which is that Ozzie is awesome! another favor to those out there: does anyone have Osgood's rankings for any significant stats compared to those all-time? I know there are a couple that he is closing in on, but I would like a compilation of as many of his "good" stats as possible. Wikipedia let me down. Erm, what stats are you looking for, I might be able to help you out to a certain extent. Are you looking league wide or just the Wings. I haven't really don't that for a while, but I could see what I could dig up if needed. Like I know I have the wins leaders. The current players change stats often so it's hard...anyway.. Ozzie is pwntastic. I like this Cool, Ozzie is leading the league in GAA as of today too If my calculations last night were correct and depending on what other goalies did, if they did anything drastic....Ozzie should be #1 in GAA, and #4 in wins and SV %....I know he'd be #1 in wins if he played a bit more...just fighting it out with Gerber. Way to go Ozzie

VM1138 1,921 Report post Posted November 22, 2007 In another article Melrose mentions how the Wings are the elite team in the NHL and would have the edge in a matchup against Ottawa. I think he also mentions how he "loves both teams." That was good for a chuckle.
GMRwings1983 8,804 Report post Posted November 22, 2007 Great, now Barry has jinxed Ozzie. He probably said good things about him on purpose knowing what that would do.
puckloo39 5,686 Report post Posted November 22, 2007 Great, now Barry has jinxed Ozzie. He probably said good things about him on purpose knowing what that would do. I thought the same thing. I love how Melrose is an "idiot" until he says something ya'll like. Of course, he's right about Ozzie, but normally Melrose is as unpopular as Hasek is around here. Too funny.... Guest wingswillwincup Report post Posted November 22, 2007 dom's been horrible theres no doubt about that .... as for ozzie he's done his job im not gonna say im all impressed with the guy and go out of my way and say the guy deserves to go to the all star game, sure hes got good numbers but i hope to god he does after the way we play in front of him. He barely faces any shots , he faced 12 shots yesterday for a shutout ..... 12, its not like hes getting 30-40 shots a night id like to think our goalie can stop 12 shots and not let in 2-3 like dom has been doing , that being said ozzies been good but not spectacular and not all star game worthy in my opinion, and not to be a downer but as the season goes along and the all star game approaches i do expect ozzie to be back to normal and have a 905 type save percentage by seasons end ....... again my opinion roberto luongo although hasnt been good so far is still luongo and probably will get voted in to the all star game pascal leclaire - he's just been amazing evgeni nabokov - his 11-7 record isnt "amazing" but hes right above the 2 goals per game mark 2.02 , 915 save percentage and 3 shut outs , i think it'll only get better nicklas backstrom - he's had a really solid start to the season js giguere - slow start and i hate the guy , but he'll rebound Lets not forget zetterberg, lidstrom, rafalski has had solid starts to the season and that theres no way the wings will probably have 3 let alone 4 players at the all star game , theyll try and make each team have a presentative
Tiribulus 0 Report post Posted November 22, 2007 shut up melrose, d bag. Melrose has been a fair weather friend to the Wings for a long time. Except Stevie. I remember leading up the 98 playoffs how he was proclaiming the impossibility of a Detroit repeat until the conference semi finals when he started to change his tune and by the finals he was a bonafide fan again predicting us for the cup. As for Osgood. I've always loved the guy and used to lament the way he was beat up in the press in this town. Anybody remember that shot of him on the cover of the Freep where they caught him with a facial expression looking like a complete dunce after that center ice Langenbrunner goal in OT in the playoffs? People remember that more than they do the fact that he screwed his head back on and shut them out the next game. Ozzie's strength is his mental toughness and unwillingness to let circumstances get in his head. In other words everything Legace isn't as much I also loved Manny. Osgood stiffens under intense professional pressure. Something Legace to this point hasn't been able to manage.
Offsides 21 Report post Posted November 22, 2007 Pssh, who cares, I never listen to any of the major hockey people. But if they say something good about our team, good! It's good to know people notice. Anyway, even a broken clock is right twice a day.

HockeyCrazy3033 168 Report post Posted November 22, 2007 OZZIE!!! I saw the bit he was talking about Ozzie last night on Espn. He was also saying that him and Brodeur are the two best Canadian goaltenders in the league, and that no goaltender has a better winning % than Oz. And hell yeah he better get into the all star game. If not, im boycotting the game. haha

SweWings 45 Report post Posted November 23, 2007 I'm really happy and surprised with how well he's taking the amount of games needed now that Hasek is really slumping. I hope Hasek gets his groove back but Oz has really stepped up.

The league seems to favor Lunongo, Kipper, Miller, etc. Ozzy will get shafted.
