Booster313 138 Report post Posted December 6, 2007 For those of you that haven't discovered Red Wings TV yet I highly recommend it. In the after practice interview Babcock says towards the end of the interview that Dom will go against Minny....I can only asume that he's talking about Friday night. Good job Dom! He showed great progress Tuesday night, he should only get better, and I'm sure Ozzy will be net either Sunday or Monday. It will be great to have both of our goalies rolling. puckloo39 5,686 Report post Posted December 6, 2007 Good, I have to assume Babs knows what he's doing here, and that Ozzie is on board as well. Dom and Ozzie will comprise the best tandem in the league, regardless of who plays when. Dom played well last night, and this will give him a chance to build on that effort. IceMunkee 15 Report post Posted December 6, 2007 (edited) I definitly think The Dommer earned his start on friday. He played a great game with the clutch saves he has been missing all season. Just think if Dom and Ozzy are both on their game, and they split 50/50 starts giving them both an oppurtunity to stay hot and not get burned out. The team will be unstoppable!!!! Detroit # 1 Fan 2,204 Report post Posted December 6, 2007 Dunno about this. I think they should've gone back to Oz, and then Dom again.

datsyukismyfriend 4 Report post Posted December 6, 2007 makes sense to me. dom had a good game tuesday, it's best to get him right back out there so he can start to establish some sort of rhythm.
Gordie Howe hat trick 110 Report post Posted December 6, 2007 Yeah, Dom had a really good game against the Habs. I think if he goes back to playing like that all the time he will silence alot of the doubters...but never Osgod

Couldn't agree more...let him get a few games under his belt. I think as long as they both keep playing well it should be a 50/50 split and Ozzy deservingly is a few games up on Dom. I think it will all even out by season's end.
YoungGuns1340 1 Report post Posted December 6, 2007 Im not so sure I like this. Dom only faced 15 shots against the Habs, and judging from last year, Im being to think thats what Dom needs to pull off a win - less than or around 20 shots a game. If Minny is taking tons of shots, Ill assume we'll lose. If he can still pull it off, then good for us. But lets make sure we keep Ozzie in the picture. He hasnt faltered in 16 games this year so far..
wingnut40 176 Report post Posted December 6, 2007 I think as long as Dom plays like he did last night(not a lot of flopping) we should be fine.
Booster313 138 Report post Posted December 6, 2007 I think as long as Dom plays like he did last night(not a lot of flopping) we should be fine. I disagree, I was happy to see Dom spralling and stacking the pads on a few saves last night. He was playing his game, and he looked confident doing so, something he's been missing since very early in the season. When Dom is not flopping it means he is doubting himself and that's a bad thing. He's flopped his entire career, love it or hate it (and it's worked for him more than it hasn't) that's his style. Flop On Dom!!!
Offsides 21 Report post Posted December 6, 2007 Eh...whatever. Dom can establish a rhythm or whatever, but if Ozzie is perma-shelved I will be pissed. He's earned the #1 spot.

Z and D for the C 712 Report post Posted December 6, 2007 Dunno about this. I think they should've gone back to Oz, and then Dom again. I disagree entirely. I think it'd be a mistake to drop hasek off and that he should get at least 2 games in a row. I was hoping that he would get Friday's start. I'd even say he should get Sunday's start (depending how he plays against the wild).

The Noodle 39 14 Report post Posted December 6, 2007 Glad Dom is starting again! Hope he can get hot as well and we will have Dom and Ozzy going full throttle!! But anyways yes it is good to see Dom sprawling and stacking the pads again because that means he's confident. He was solid vs the Canadiens and i disagree with the comment above how if minnesota gets a lot of shots on Dom we will lose.. he will be on again and hopefully now after that game and the more shots the better because if it was up to him he would definitly want to see a lot more action.. but our D is a tad bit too good so unfortunately that hinders Dom because he needs to see a lot more action and shots. I know he's 42 now but Dom saw loads of shots in Buffalo and that only helped him and he was ready for that nite in and nite out.
wings_fanatic 677 Report post Posted December 6, 2007 I know that Ozzy has been hot in net so far this season, but I think that we all know that Dom is better in playoffs, and it looks like he has picked up his game. Now, I am quite sure Babcock wants Hasek to remain as number 1 goalie, so it is my opinion that Dom deserves the start Friday, after the way he plays against Habs. If Dom keeps playing well, then I see no reason why he shouldn't continue to play. I think if Dom wins, and plays well Friday, then he should get the start on Sunday, and so on. Personally, I believe that Dom would be the better goalie to be number 1, so its time to play him over and over to keep his game strong, as long as he continues to play well. Now, Dom is older obviosuly, so I think that Ozzy should play 1 game a week just to give Dom a little rest and avoid any minor injury.... other than that... go DOM! VM1138 1,921 Report post Posted December 6, 2007 Good move. Hasek has been getting consistently better, given him two games (or three) in a row to get fully back on track is a good idea. We've learned now that both Osgood and Hasek remain hot after having a few games off, so rotating is not going to make either one of them cool off. I'm all for a 2 games on, 2 games off rotation. I know he's a flopper and it works for him, it's just sometimes he hams it up for dramatic affect and a goal goes in top shelf. I hope last nights win really gets him back in the swing of things, and bring back The Dominator!!!
gcom007 1,465 Report post Posted December 6, 2007 I don't know how anyone could say he really had a good game against the Habs. I don't mean that he played bad, but come on, it was like street hockey out there. Though in the same breath, that is the very reason why he really needs to start again Friday. The win is nice, but he needs to get games under his belt that actually feel like games as opposed to the street hockey event last night in Canada. Next game is a question mark though. Give him three straight before getting a split going again or get Ozzy in there? I'd probably go three straight no matter what, but I'm not the coach. auxlepli 17 Report post Posted December 6, 2007 Personally I'd feel more comfortable if Osgood was in net. Still Babcock is pretty trustworthy. It's hard to argue against him when the Wings are playing so well.

Dom had a great game Tuesday not because it was his toughest game, but because he made 3 or 4 really good clutch saves. That's what you want to see from your goalie, and it's all Osgood has had to do so far this season. The Wings D are top notch. They don't give up a lot of shots and they're aren't too many defensive break downs.
