Gaborik should have been watching where he was going.

I wish I could have seen this one, but a good friend just called and said she is putting the game on a DVD for me. Yay!! I'm happy now. Who wants a copy? :hehe:

I know who you are talking about! You'll be happy once you get it! Sure was a good one!

perfect laid-out back flip! If he was a figure skater, that would have gotten him straight tens! I am glad he landed on him butt and not his head. Dom said after the game (post-game interview) about three or four times how glad he was that Gaborik wasn't hurt.

Thanks Z40. I forgot you're so good at video clips... can you post Hank's hattie? Please?

Boring game for the most part.

Downeys fight was fun.

Drake,Kopecky are not impressing me.. kinda pissed off at them right now. Ever since drake took off his mask and got promoted to the 3rd line all of a sudden he became a *****..

Franzen is seeming to be a solid player. good to see him coming around.

Rex got a naise goal, could of easily gotten another 1 or 2 that night, but ill settle..

Gosh.. Lilja's hit was fun to.

and hasek with his.. whatchamakallit.. sickend me. no reason he should of done it. game was over. and he nearly ruined another players career. sad..

Franzen and Lilja are currently exempt from the verbal lashings until furthur notice.

highlights of the game, including the spectacular save, are up at tsn.ca site. I can never figure out how to link from that site, but just go to www.tsn.ca and the link is in the game write up.

well, the Texas fans are all here tonight. :P Yankee, don't pace and don't stress. There is nothing we can do here in Austin. I went over to the TWC offices and talked to the marketing director. She was very nice. They have NO plans to ever offer NHLN here. Furthermore, they say (correctly) that TWC has no control over the CI schedule. When I called Center Ice (I got some nice guy in Nova Scotia) he didn't even know that the NHLN was stripping games from their schedule.

In short, the situation has been bungled from all perspectives. And we are screwed.

Wish I could get the internet streams to work, but no dice here. :(

Thanks for the help on the subject but that is not good news

Hasek is the better goalie. People don't just lose it over a 3 month span. If he had showed signs that it was the beginning of the end last season, I'd be more inclined to believe that he's lost it. But he was just fine last year, he had a very good playoff, and he got off to a slow start, which people blew up into something a lot worse than it was. He's starting to play a lot better now, and he's going to be this team's goalie in the playoffs. The sooner people realize it, the better.

It's nothing against Osgood--he's been outstanding and if he ends up on the All-Star team, it's well deserved--but if Hasek is healthy, he's going to be this team's goalie in the post-season. Because the guy still has it.

And from reading peoples' reactions tonight, it looks like he made at least 6 or 7 big stops.

Oh, I think Dom showed signs last year that things were declining. I hate pointing to this as it's the cliche people who don't know how to watch the game cling to, but you've gotta look at that Game 6 loss to Anaheim as a prime example. There's no way in hell you can convince me that Hasek would've played so poorly if it were 2002, and even then he wasn't quite the Dominator of the Sabres years. There was some serious mental toughness lacking there especially in the 3rd when then teams (finally...) turning it around and you let in yet another soft goal to put a nail in the coffin. I'm not saying he sucked all year and like I said, I hate picking that out, but it's a blatant and profound example of how much things have changed between 2002 and 2007.

I don't think he's had the composure he once did and I've noticed it since his return. It's not so obvious on this team that's so strong defensively and giving up so few shots and scoring chances, but I just don't think he's looked so comfortable out there especially the 2nd half of last season. Again, that's not to say he's horrible, but I have definitely seen signs of the decline and even last year, once Osgood got healthy I think he was playing as good or better than Hasek. This isn't a new thing for me. You can probably find old posts of mine from last year expressing this concern with no expectation of Osgood gaining anything attached as Dom was obviously the starter. This isn't a new thing or a bandwagon thing from my end. Now we can argue about the perception but not the rationality.

Alright, how about this: Without Hasek, we simply do not win Game 1 of the Anaheim series. Furthermore, he carried a 1.78 GAA and .923 SP% through the post-season. And I think it's pretty clear that series was lost when the game was tied in the dying seconds of Game 5, and I don't know how you could ever blame Dom for that goal.

And are you honestly whining about Dom's poke-check? Seriously. If you don't like Hasek, that's your problem, but try to be reasonable.

Yeah, Game 5 was about really stupid calls by the refs and the team not having it in them to get it done. Even with the refs making stupid calls, the team didn't overcome. You've gotta allow for that sort of thing. Game 6 though was pretty ugly on Dom's part. While our guys didn't show up offensively until the 3rd period, they did show up and put us in a position to win while Hasek never showed up and let in a soft goal right as we had the momentum going. So game 6, I think Hasek deserves a good deal of blame. The rest of the playoffs, can't complain even with the team he had in front of him. He managed to get the job done. But game 6...still blows my mind.

I was at this game, it was pretty much a perfect game, it had everything. The shutout, the hat trick, a fight (and a pretty good one, too), that crazy Hasek-Gaborik hit. Great to see Franzen's game rounding into form and Hudler's, too.

How you guys can applaud what Hasek did is beyond me. I really wish he would have gotten hurt now. With a few minutes left and leading 5-0 it probably was the smartest play in the book. Jackasses. Yea. Let's skate out as fast as we can and slam into another player potentially putting the career on the line. Fukin' brilliant.

If you think Dom had a weak Game 6, you're entitled to your opinion, but what I was taking issue with was the notion that Hasek was the reason we lost to Anaheim. I don't appreciate him taking flack for his post-season performance when he posted better numbers than in his '02 Cup run.

I know, I was more or less agreeing with you. I stated that he certainly played a big part in that Game 6 loss but the rest of the time you can't really blame him and you can't put it all on that one game.

ah the ups and downs in dealing with dominik hasek as your team's starting goaler.

he's been great of late. yes just two games, but come on that Gabby collison makes up for a lot. Hasek is the only goalie in the world who would ever think to do that (besides ed belfour a few times, and he was probably drunk when he did it).

win or lose, at least hasek makes it interesting!

the Wings totally dominate another game. great to see Z with his 2nd career hat trick.

downey lookin good.

bring on carolina!

If it was Osgood that had done that, you'd want to give him a cookie.

And if Dom had stayed back in his net and had given up a goal, you'd blame him for spoiling the shutout. Whatever...

If Gaborik has his head up, he side-steps Dom and makes him look like an idiot. Was it necessary? Probably night. But with jackasses like yourself critiquing every goal he allows, I'm just as happy that he made the play to keep it out and retain the shutout.

Oh, I think Dom showed signs last year that things were declining.

Wait, what? Kinda straddling the fence there, are you not?

Dom had a bad playoff game. He was only 7-0 in elimination games previously. And it ain't like the rest of the team showed up....

But yeah, that's totally a sign that he was on the decline.

Good stuff tonight. Downey vs. Fedoruk was the highlight of the game, for me anyways. Downey got in some good shots early, and held in there pretty good. Overall I'll give it a draw. I'll give a slight edge to Downey in the end, mainly because I'm a homer. :P

Nice to see the Fridge dropping the gloves again, on that note. He's slowly rounding back, though he definitly won't be able to take on the heavyweights anymore. He can still be a decent middleweight fighter at this level, since he shows at times he can still handle it.

Nice win tonight. :)

Dom has 2 good games and Ozzie is being shelved...what a flipping surprise...and people wonder. I'm glad Dom is showing signs that he is better but it's just annoying. I didn't see the game, which hurts me being able to comment too much. Too bad too as I guess I missed quite a lot, a hat trick, a flipped player and Huds scoring. Bah.

I was OKAY with Dom in this game even though I thought it should have gone to Ozzie and it worked out well this way. But now Ozzie's sitting for a 3rd game...even though I understand the reasoning it is beyond frustrating.

Yes, Dom has been great the last 2 games. Ozzie is still leading the league (top 5 in 3 stats: GAA, SV%, and wins). Well, it is good that we are winning and it's good that we have 2 goalies doing well.

How are you blaming Dominik Hasek? Gaborik had plenty of time to see Hasek coming and go around him, as already said by another posted.

His head wasn't in the game. His fault.
