gcom007 1,465 Report post Posted December 10, 2007 Odd game if you ask me. Not complaining about the win or that it was close for most of it though. I almost want to root against our defense though. It's just gotten to the point where they seem too good. Again, not really complaining, but after awhile, it's just kinda mind-blowing how completely stifling our D is in every way. Then when we can turn it around and be a huge force on Offense as well, you don't leave the oppositions D much room to sneak in and take chances that might give the opposition the edge. It's just nuts... Overall, nice game for Huds. Lilja goal was nice...Datsyuks as well. Carolina's goalie deserved better. Hasek was eh...not really bad but not really good considering how little he has to do behind our D. Again on that, my mind is just blown...our ability to shut down teams is insane and as I believe Mickey said, they work harder than about any other team going back so it's not surprising. Just insane though...
puckloo39 5,686 Report post Posted December 10, 2007 Huds #3?! kljsdklgjs It should be: #3. Cole #2. Lils #1. Huds Hmmm.. I agree. That was a career best for Huddie, and Lils wouldn't have minded at all being #2 star tonight.
T.Low 1,011 Report post Posted December 10, 2007 Datsyuk and Homer baby!!! P.S. What a goal by Datsyuk! I finally got tired of wasting half the game trying to actually find it online, so Ijust dropped the $ on Center Ice Online . Won't get any blackouts cuz I live out west. But as I'm watching the game I'm thinking bout the money I just spent, then Datsyuk steals the puck and goes in on Ward, backhand deke, to the forehand, two hole SCORRRRRRES! and suddelny I'm thinking that its money well spent! Rock on Red Wings! Now I'm off to radio shack to get Monster Cable to hook from the laptop to the tv for tomorrow night at the Grand Ole Opry.
gcom007 1,465 Report post Posted December 10, 2007 Nothing I love more than seeing our Wings beat the home town team. Hudler is REALLY REALLY starting to impress me. For a second there it looked like Z and D would be held pointless, but they came through...........as they usually do Hudler's looking great. I think the Kozlov comparison was quite appropriate and a big compliment as Kozlov really has had a great career. He'll be a great 30-40 goal guy before too long. Anyways, as I was watching today I noticed how much speed the Wings have. A few years ago this wasn't the case, but man are they different now. Fast and fiesty. Love it. wingnut40 176 Report post Posted December 10, 2007 (edited) Hey would any of you guys happent to have a link to the last 2 goals? I heard it in the car, but I obviously didn't see it. Datsyuk's goal sounded cool. It was a breakaway right? Oh, nevermind. I found it. Edited December 10, 2007 by wingnut40
Z and D for the C 712 Report post Posted December 10, 2007 (edited) It was a half break away. He came from the left side of the ice and through the middle. Looks like the highlights are up on nhl.com. Edited December 10, 2007 by Z and D for the C
SouthernWingsFan 854 Report post Posted December 10, 2007 Even though it wasn't a game winner/had little outcome on the final score, I want to give Datsyuk a big bear hug for his steal and goal, a big bear hug in a heterosexual kinda way, if there is such a way. I certainly hope you aren't questioning the players sexuality when they give their teammates a big bear hug when they score. I'm not quite sure I would want Lilya running after me lol. puckloo39 5,686 Report post Posted December 10, 2007 (edited) Lilja! I didn't realize this: "Both of Lilja’s goals this season have been game-winners and he has three game-winners among his 12 career goals." He doesn't score often, but he makes the most of his chances! Edited December 10, 2007 by puckloo39
Guest DetroitIan Report post Posted December 10, 2007 Lilja! I didn't realize this: "Both of Lilja’s goals this season have been game-winners and he has three game-winners among his 12 career goals." I told you guys earlier in the season that after Lilja demolishes someone in a fight, his play is going to pick up. Looks like I was right.
mrhockey2k 2 Report post Posted December 10, 2007 (edited) I was at the game and it was a good one to see live! Dats, Z, Clears, and Huds impressed me the most. Dom is like watching the Roller Coaster himself Todd jones (you dont know what to expect from ever pitch/shot!). Did they show Ward's tantrum at the end when he broke his stick on the post and threw it? nm i just read on previous page that they did! OK then answer this. What was the bench penalty for that whitney served? Edited December 10, 2007 by mrhockey2k
wingsfan75 2 Report post Posted December 10, 2007 You know of all the games my brother had to choose for us to see this year, it had to be one of the only two losses at home. God, this team is EN FUEGO!!!!!
Shockwave180 0 Report post Posted December 10, 2007 Didn't see the game, but I'm glad we won, and it's nice to see everybody so enthused about the team. I hope the last decade-and-a-half hasn't numbed everybody to how good this team is right now. Long way to go, and all that, but wow.

esteef 2,679 Report post Posted December 10, 2007 OK then answer this. What was the bench penalty for that whitney served? I think Carolina's coach was yacking a little too much at the ref about a non-call and the ref finally had enough of it.
betterREDthandead 58 Report post Posted December 10, 2007 Anyways, as I was watching today I noticed how much speed the Wings have. A few years ago this wasn't the case, but man are they different now. Fast and fiesty. Love it. I think that's dead on. They're called a puck-possession team, same as they have been since forever. It's different now though. They used to be brilliant at playing keep-away. They don't do that as much - now they're a puck-possession team because they know how to go get it. They're on all the loose pucks and they're good at taking it away. That's grit and it's a much better way to win because it doesn't require perfection at every turn. Beau 0 Report post Posted December 10, 2007 Went to the game. Was right at the glass with my kids during practice. Downey stopped in front of my 3 year old and was tapping the glass to get her attention, waved at her and smiled. Three year old had a huge smile & now knows the word "Downey". Lebda passed a puck to my four year old, he was pretty excited! I'm such a dork and could'nt get the slot in the glass to open, Lebda probably wanted to smack his head watching trying to figure it out. It was a good game & everyone was really loud. Lots of fun!
