JackMallory 0 Report post Posted January 27, 2008 (edited) I haven't heard the details on the road loss in Kalamazoo, but in last night's home victory, Mac scored a goal and had about three goods hits. There were a group of guys in the stands with McCarty shirts on and wearing sombraros (sp?). Not sure what that was all about but Mac acknowledged them. Anyone have the scoop on that? Got home from the K-Wings game about 45 minutes ago. Mac had an "OK" night. They initially credited the Generals' first goal to him, but on later review it was given to another player. The buzz at the arena was that it's expected that a certain Michigan AHL team will add McCarty shortly. Here's a few photos I took from tonight: Edited January 27, 2008 by Gizmo

IceMunkee 15 Report post Posted January 27, 2008 Very good imo. I really do think if he continues to work hard, he'll make it back to the Wings for the playoffs. You would think that if he is not resigning with Flint then he is just not gonna give up. There must be something... GO WINGS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Rice 42 Report post Posted January 27, 2008 Is there a source to confirm DMac possibly going to Grand Rapids, or is it all just a buzz for now? Well, according to the Freep article: The Red Wings have been eyeing McCarty's progress in the IHL. He has three goals and two assists in nine games. Holland told McCarty to view his stint in Flint as his "training camp" because he'll likely be called up to Grand Rapids of the American Hockey League -- perhaps as soon as this week. Barrie 900 Report post Posted January 27, 2008 Thanks for the links. It's great to see McCarty doing well. Reading about him being a full-time Dad again, is the best news of all. I'm going to two more games this season, February 29th vs. SJ and March 15th vs. Nashville, I really hope to see DMac in a Wings jersey. It would be an unbelievable feeling to have #25 back in Motown. You gotta love McCarty! It would have been great to win the Stanley Cup in 2006 or 2007, but if Mac is back and we win in 2008 instead, that would be 10 times better.

JackMallory 0 Report post Posted January 27, 2008 Here's a nice article from the Kalamazoo paper (Flint played there yesterday). Well, I'm off to the Generals' home game...Mac's last here, they say. Bummer, but I'm glad he gets to go to Grand Rapids (or so it seems). http://www.mlive.com/sports/kzgazette/inde...&thispage=

irishtemper14+25 11 Report post Posted January 27, 2008 great articles, im glad he went to rehab and is now a fulltime dad again i especially like what he said to holland, that made me think he turned his life around
Booster313 138 Report post Posted January 27, 2008 You're being sarcastic, right ? Not at all...I think all indications are that Holland fully intends on bringing him up.
IceMunkee 15 Report post Posted January 27, 2008 You're being sarcastic, right ? I would hope he is not being sarcastic, I don't see why it is not possible. If he can do it then there is definitly room for him on the bench. Some guys he could replace without issue right now: Drake, Downey. Does what they are supposed to do but can win fights. With a very little work he could replace Sammy too. If you would have read the article you would have read that they are going to be marking progress until the deadline, so to me that means it is very possible for this year! Awsome article about him in the paper. I was stoked to see it. This is exactly what Detroit needs.
