mannysBETTER3434 1 Report post Posted April 1, 2008 Didn't we figure out last season Grilli couldn't even help out the Whitecaps?! It amazes me that bum is still around. Sadly enough though I guess he's our best option compared to the other guys back there.....
betterREDthandead 58 Report post Posted April 1, 2008 I actually don't blame the bullpen 100% for this loss. It shouldn't have come down to the 'pen. The offense left some runs on the board with some damn good scoring opportunities, and Verlander made a bad mistake at a bad time. Yeah, the 'pen gave up runs, but they shouldn't have been in position to lose the game. Guess we can forget about that perfect season.

Yeah, i predominantly blame the bats for this one as well for not cashing in more often. But in the future having to rely on Grilli and Bautista is going to be one scary proposition... timothy1997 0 Report post Posted April 1, 2008 I agree. I don't have nothing against the bully as much as I have against bases loaded for shef and ordonez and not scoring a run, or having thomas at 3rd base with 1 out and failure to bring him home. Royals are a very gritty team. They have a bunch of SOBs that just are flat out tough to play against.
mannysBETTER3434 1 Report post Posted April 1, 2008 You got that right. They are going to give some teams trouble this year. Hopefully not us.... dallas27 7 Report post Posted April 2, 2008 Brandon... on base 2 for 2 and 1 put out Cabby 0 for 2 and an error hm Are you honestly trying to say Brandon freaking INGE is a better baseball player than Cabrera? You know how ridiculous you sound right? I mean I know Brandon is being slotted as the MVP like Cabrera is. I know people are also slotting Brandon Inge as a candidate for the hall of fame like people are for Cabrera is. Please. You have to get over this Brandon Inge thing. He's an awesome utility player and should not be complaining. Can't be a starting third baseman or starting anything and be hitting .220 all season. It doesn't matter how good defensively you are. He may have gotten screwed, but here is the thing. That's the nature of the beast in the MLB. s*** happens. Get over it. Reading the newspaper I don't get how people can say the bullpen was an issue last game, they give up 1 earned run, and people are going to *****? If anything they did great. It's not the bullpens fault that they can't get someone home after THEY GET A LEAD OFF DOUBLE.

Kp-Wings 3 Report post Posted April 2, 2008 (edited) The Tigers always struggle on opening day. And wouldn't you know it, it's always against a bad team. Oh well. They still played a decent game, and really, think about it - this team has way too much talent to not have a good season. They'll come through. With Cabrera, Maggs, Sheff, Granderson, and a lot of other great players on offense, the hitting power on this team is amazing. They should be able to put up a lot of points this season. Pitching (aside from the bullpen, which could still use some work) is great as well. Go Tigers! Edited April 2, 2008 by Kp-Wings

dallas27 7 Report post Posted April 3, 2008 you are not allowed there anymore I didn't go to ONE GAME last year hoping that I could shake off this curse I have. My friend asked me a while ago if I wanted to go to Saturday's game. So chalk that one up as a loss too. Then no more for me, unfortunately.

Kp-Wings 3 Report post Posted April 3, 2008 Wow. That was a terrible game. KC really made no moves to solidify a competitive team this season, so I have to believe this is a fluke. Given that the Tigers offense couldn't do squat today... well... I'm making plans to head down to a game soon, so they better not play like this when I go. Jose Guillen is a pretty big move for the Royals. Plus they have a new manager who won in Japan.
