LidsFan 68 Report post Posted February 19, 2008 I am so glad that the fire and drive is back. That was a great game, except for the part of Lidstrom getting hurt. I hope that he is back real soon. I am so in love with Downey, he is now my second favorite player. Everyone had a great game tonight, It was a real team effort and thats what I love to see. RockyMountainWingGal 108 Report post Posted February 19, 2008 Nice win - the right team at the right time to end the slump. Dirty hit on our captain aside, enjoyed the game thoroughly in person. Sea of Winged Wheels again of course. I especially enjoy the "Red Wings suck" chant when we are beating them in their own building 4-0. I thought our offense was slacking the past few games - they couldn't take a shot on goal if the existence of the human race depended on it! Get well Nick - if I see "Lappy" a$$ around town, I'll be sure to punch him in the face for you!
Barrie 900 Report post Posted February 19, 2008 I just want to say, "Ozzie, Ozzie, Ozzie". It's nice to see they boys break the streak with a convincing 4-0 win. I hope Lidstrom doesn't miss much time, he's the Energizer Bunny and is never injured.
Offsides 21 Report post Posted February 19, 2008 Dancin' Ozzie-bananas!!!! I love this! You should put four though, one for each goal! haha thanks. My friend actually made Ozzie banana for me (from another board) and I felt he was appropriate tonight after the horrid last few games. Love it! Your sig is really cute too! Thanks I did actually make the sig

cirov19 1 Report post Posted February 19, 2008 This game can be described easily. Lidstrom = Warrior. Downey = About time. Mike Babcock = ******* hilarious. Thank you Mike.
Heaton 1 Report post Posted February 19, 2008 Asked if he knew he would fight Laperriere right after the hit, Downey replied, “you don’t want to think that. But you know, what you’ve got to do is, you’ve got to have a good head on your shoulder and you don’t want to put your team in jeopardy even though you’d like to go out there and run (Ryan) Smyth or you’d like to run one of their skill guys. Sure it’d be good to go out there and goon the guy, but that’s not hockey. Let’s play good, hard, passionate hockey like they did in the Roman times. I’m not going to run their guys to prove a point but you know what, I’ll go out there and get him back. Fair justice is fair justice.” Downey went up a few notches in my book, his comments right here are exactly the way I feel. Running the other teams skill guys to "get back" at the guilty one is chickens***.

For the most part I agree with you, but if Lappy had gotten a game misconduct for example, I would have had no problem with good, clean, hard hits on their skilled guys, just like the one on Nick. Obviously fighting Laperriere is the better option though.

Running the other teams skill guys to "get back" at the guilty one is chickens***. I wanna watch "Roman Times hockey" Seriously though- please please please make Lids be ok Thanks for stomping some ass tonight Downey. That's why he's on this team. He's a controlled enforcer who plays disciplined hockey but isn't afraid to make a big statement. Tonight Downey made a huge statement- put your elbows up on a Wing and prepare for him to go apes***. Could we have a better fighter? Well he's not #1 in the league, but he's definitely no slouch and he proved tonight that he's a heavy weight when it comes to being a Red Wing. He proved alot tonight, Hopefully tonight proved we need 1 more poliemen on the ice for us. But i almost bet money that he is benched for 1 of our upcoming games. Better Fighter? Sure, But you cant beat his character, Total bad ass.

Kira 451 Report post Posted February 19, 2008 I was told by a friend when we signed Aaron that we would love him. Needless to say, I think she was right. That little douchebag got just what he deserved, and I knew Aaron would not let him go unpunished for beating up Nick. And it was awesome to see some temper on the part of Mike Babcock as well. I've never seen him so animated. He was ready to go around the glass and kick Granato's ass all the way to Wyoming. I wish he would have done it!

therock48880 14 Report post Posted February 19, 2008 I just set this is my background. Downey needs to be dressed every game from here on out. The games are becoming more physical and his 3-5 minutes per game can be invaluable.
Roz 2 Report post Posted February 19, 2008 It was hilarious how quickly Downey dropped the gloves after making the hit on Laperriere.
wingslogo19 281 Report post Posted February 19, 2008 Great game by the Wings tonight.. Controlled the whole game. Dats played very well same with Z... My man love for Downey has grown even more. After Laperriere hit Lids with that elbow I knew Downey would be dropping the gloves.. That little punk turtled too... Babs was awesome on the bench yelling at the coach, like to see that passion

haroldsnepsts 4,826 Report post Posted February 19, 2008 Great game by Cheli last night. The old man logged over 21 minutes with Nick out. Played the PP, the PK, and I think most importantly, any time he saw the Avs collapsing in their defensive zone, Chelios shot the puck on net without it getting blocked. The Wings need more of that. Sammy, Lebda and Hudler all tried taking huge windups and had their slapshots blocked at the blueline, leading the Avs to break out of the zone.
