your thoughts?

I think Stuart is a solid addition. Obviously it does hurt that we didn't make a splash but I don't think the market was favouralbe to us this year.

If anything our players might feel more urgency to perform well and show resiliency to go over the tough hill that is Western Conference.

In the end, who wants more wins and it is hard to have same hunger when you have it so good. So here's hoping everyone stays healthy and brings Stanley home this year

Disappointed we didn't land Hossa, but I'm glad we didn't give up what Pittsburgh gave up. Stuart is a good trade for the price. A late announced forward would be music to my ears, but I think Holland did alright not giving up the farm... we really don't have much to trade.

Pretty obvious we had no chance at Hossa --

But seems like Fedorov or Propsal could have been had.

I give us a C --> Addressed 50% of our needs with out giving up too much.

Not bad; Not good.

What would Fedorov have changed? The guy has 28 points this year. People please remember that Holland cannot force people to deal with him. Maybe other managers valued other teams assets more than what they do the wings.

Status quo for him in the salary cap era.

Edit: it's almost like he's too gun shy now to make big deals. Like he's afraid to make a bad move in the cap era. Could Holland precap > Holland Postcap ? He's got two more seasons of capped hockey before true judgment could be made.

I still stand by my opinion that I don't like him regardless and ironically happy that Hossa, Fed and Foote are elsewhere for various reasons.

Here's what really pisses me off -->

We could have had Markov at the beginning of the season with all that cap space we have.

Instead, we pick up Stuart (not an improvement) for only a quarter of the season and *lose* 2nd and 4th round picks.

We got a little tougher and more physical with McCarty and Stuart.......we needed scoring on the 2nd line badly though. I will grade the deadline a C-

I don't think we'll last in the playoffs without 2nd line scoring, but maybe Babcock can experiment some.

I think it was a good deadline. Once everyone gets healthy, this is how the team looks going into the playoffs:

Zetterberg-Datyuk-Holmstrom

Cleary-Filppula-Samuelsson

Franzen-Draper-Hudler

Maltby-Kopecky-McCarty/Downey/Drake

Lidstrom-Rafalski

Stuart-Kronwall

Lebda/Lilja-Chelios

Osgood

Hasek

I think we have a good mix of skill, size, and strength. We'll be a difficult team to play against in the playoffs.

Yea Columbus wouldn't have traded with us anyway, so we had no chance at getting Fedorov. I didn't want him back anyway.

We got one of the pieces that we needed and left one out there. We didn't give up too much for Stuart and I think he will help the team. I would have liked to have seen a forward, but there is no guarantee that any of the other GM's out there really wanted to help make the Wings a better team. I'm sure they all asked for the world for a forward (Filp and a 1st if not more) Overall I give Holland a solid "B" He made the team better with out hurting it in the future.
