Holy s***! Did anyone see that hit on Ryan Smyth from LA Kings Jack Johnson? All I can say was wow! Smyth went down hard and was taken off on a backboard a few minutes ago. They said a concussion most likely has occured.

Sorry I didnt record it, but it should be on youtube soon.

Here it is.

I do believe you mean Ryan Smyth.

That he had been in Edmonton with Jason Smith makes it easy to mix them up.

Just saw the hit on NHL Network. Ouch. It was definitely a clean hit, just a case of bad luck for Smyth.

I don't understand why that partition isn't padded.

Too bad it didn't happen to Floppa or to Lappy.

The Kings never play on TV, so I haven't had too many chances to see Johnson play, but I've heard good things.

Yeah, Floppa was a scratch tonight.

He isn't bad and he isn't overrated, but he makes defensive mistakes every so often. (This was one of them!) :P

He does seem confident in his offensive abilities, though.

Yeah that was scary. Obviously I watch most of the Avs games since I'm in market. Svatos was hurt too. I missed the Denver news so not sure what they are saying - but I would suspect out a few games at the least. He's actually been hurt alot this season to begin with.

Most of the reason I was watching was to catch "the return of Foppa" which they said would be tonight but got pushed off a game.

Part of me has been saying "please hockey Gods spare the Wings any more injuries" - however, I don't intentionally wish them upon any team -(yeah even the Avs).

wow, what an a*hole comment.... :ranting:

when I think of you and your posts, this comes to mind:

For whatever reasons the guy hates everything to do with Colorado. Thinks we have lepers or something... Not too sure if everything works well in his head.

A bit on the harsh side. As a fan, I would like to see Forsberg play out the season for the entertainment, although I question his durability at this point. Of course I'm a bit mad at Lappy for hitting Nick - but come on dude it was unintentional and even Nick admitted it. He's a third-fourth line guy that plays hard for his team - can't say I wish him injured. He even took the Downey punches like a man....

I guess we're going to have to wait and see how Forsberg performs.... we will only know once he starts playing. I am really thrilled that Foote is back in action, you can really tell how much the fans love him here in Colorado.

I was pretty worried about Smyth, but it sounds like it's a little less serious than it looked since they said he was able to walk out on his own (which I am sorta surprised by since they had his head strapped down when they took him off the ice)

I still wish the Wings could have somehow grabbed Foote from the Jackets. But he only wanted to go back to Colorado. In fact, letting Foote go is easily the biggest mistake the Avs made since the lockout - so in fact they kind of redeemed themselves. As someone who goes to some of the games, it will be nice having a few players worth paying to watch in the lineup....

Yes, and they accomplished their mission if they wanted to put butts in the seats because if Foote wasn't back they wouldn't have even come close to a sellout.

Their ticket sales went nuts when word of Forsberg and Foote was announced.

Foote is a good guy, I'm really happy to have him back.

Ok I do have to admit it's funny how what goes around comes around.....

"It doesn't matter if it's clean or not clean, it's a big hit on one of our big players and he got injured and someone had to do something," Laperriere said. "I felt like it had to be me. Jack knew that someone had to come."

Even though like I said above - Lappy said he expected to get punched in the Wings game after the hit. Downey had about the exact same quote - they must take it out of a hockey 101 textbook or something....

Holy s***! That was fricken hard.. Johnson just kicked his ass ... oh man..

Anybody know if Smyth is going to be good.

I have to say though, I find this partially funny...like not the fact that he is owned into the boards and then taken off on a stretcher...

It's 'mildly' funny because he just came off an injury. This is his what.. fifth game (random number) back? Oh man, poor guy. Horrible luck. Couldn't even see that one coming.

Not sure what some of you guys are seeing there. But it's pretty clear that Johnson just laid a mediocre hit on Smyth, and Smyth just happened to hit the edge of the glass wrong. Which made it look 10X worse.

He went in head first!!! Johnson knows where he is on the ice... That wasn't just a hit, Johnson might not of wanted the outcome, but definitly a dangerous play.

Someone mentioned a pad their on the corner. There should definitly be one.
