Majsheppard 203 Report post Posted April 11, 2008 Okay, we all saw that hit. If you are anything like me I immediately thought, the league is going to look at that. I know if it was Pronger against anyone doing that I would be calling for the death penalty. In fact for hits to the head last year Pronger with a dirty record got one playoff game suspensions. Will 55 get the same? He clearly left his feet and met the Predators player in the head with an elbow. I don't think either was intentional but it happened and I think we need to be ready for punishment. If he gets more then a game I am calling up Simon and we are going to go kidnap Betman and Pronger and get some Mob justice, it will be easy as they prob share a bed. Thoughts? tazzer82 0 Report post Posted April 11, 2008 I didn't see the hit, but Kronner isn't a dirty player by any means. I'm sure it was accidental that his elbow even made contact with the Preds player.
Barrie 900 Report post Posted April 11, 2008 Nah, if it was against the boards, then yes, but it was in open ice. Bell's hit on Alfredsson was a lot wrose than Kronner's, and Bell didn't get anything.

I think it was a clean attempt that turned ugly quick.
edicius 3,269 Report post Posted April 11, 2008 Watching the replay, I changed my mind on things. I initially thought it was an elbow - it wasn't. Kronner's elbow followed through AFTER the hit, but the initial hit was from his shoulder. Yes, he left his feet and that's a penalty right there, which he got (for elbowing, oddly enough). But a suspension for intent to injure? I honestly don't buy it. It certainly wasn't a clean hit, but it also wasn't on par with the Prongers/Tootoos of the league where the intent to injure is clear as day.

Yzerfan1999 81 Report post Posted April 11, 2008 Look, I am going to try and look at this as objectively as I possibly can...which may not be that objective, but there is NO way that hit is suspendable. Kronwall got a penalty for elbowing, and it could have been 2 mins for charging, but thats all it deserved. I can't really even believe there is a thread for this. I've seen worse hits go unpenalized.
Jwo 7 Report post Posted April 11, 2008 (edited) He got more forearm than Elbow to the face. No injuries were done. If anything it should have been a 4 min penalty with no suspension. Edited April 11, 2008 by Jwo
seeinred 1,488 Report post Posted April 11, 2008 I don't even think the league will review it. Pretty much all big open ice hits the player "leaves his feet" like Kronwall did there. I don't know if it's just part of a follow-through or what, but it happens all the time. And yes, his elbow made contact with the head, but it was pretty much tucked in to his side like a normal, clean hit (I think). It was obvious there was no malicious intent. And yes, if Pronger did it I would be calling for a game or 2. But it's not because I'm a hypocrite, it's because he has a long history and I refuse to give him the benefit of the doubt on anything. Ever.

HockeyCrazy3033 168 Report post Posted April 11, 2008 I saw the replay and while he did leave his feet it wasn't all too bad. The elbow did make contact with the head, but I don't think it was dirty or a cheaptshot whatsoever. It was completely unintentional and we know that. No one besides Preds fans are even talking about it. If it was SO bad he would of got a major or been kicked out of the game.

BlueMonk 102 Report post Posted April 11, 2008 Kronner had to hit him with his forearm. It's simple physics.
zata40 3 Report post Posted April 11, 2008 no suspension, the 2 min were fair enough.
McCartyFanForLife 17 Report post Posted April 11, 2008 Seeing as how Pronger was suspended for 8 games for stomping on someone's leg with his skate, Kronwall deserves a 2 minute suspension... oh wait, he got that already

CAredwingsfan91 28 Report post Posted April 11, 2008 if Kunitz didn't get suspended for that elbow on the back of cheechoos head then NO Kronner shouldn't be suspened OR fined.

Bell's hit on Alfredsson was a lot wrose than Kronner's, and Bell didn't get anything. WHAT?! Bell caught Alfie with his head down. It wasn't a dirty hit. Bell rung Alfie's bell , I crack me up sometimes! Kronwall left his feet which is highly frowned upon, but he didn't lead with his elbow so it's doubtful he will see any repercussions. Saran 1 Report post Posted April 11, 2008 IMO it was a shoulder hit. He left his feet which was the dirty part and some may say it was an elbow and you could complain that. However, the player got up right away after, was not shaken up by the hit, no injury, no suspension.
