Zetterberg's performance.

Now, I'm not blaming the guy or saying he sucks. He's my fav wing behind Datsyuk, but does anyone else notice how invisible he's been the last 3 games? Seems like he's trying to do too much himself. Last night I saw him skate into the middle of 3 Nashville defenders on 3 or 4 rushes!

We definately need him to relax and use his team mates out there!

Z will get there, he just needs a goal to get going. He works hard and just needs a few bounces to go his way...he plays well on defense from what I saw in the first 4 games, at least that seems to be going for him. :)

I think panicking early is better than panicking when it's 3-2...to me that's a little too late...now all your games are a must win to survive the series.

I don't know that panicking is ever a good thing....

I vote for "Panic in Detroit" by David Bowie as the offical LGW playoff theme song, no matter where the series stands.

Well obviously he's not invisible if you saw him out there. :P

But I agree that he does need to stop trying to do too much by himself. Datsyuk's guilty of doing it too. Z just needs to start playing the way he did in the first game.

He is getting chances, and with his skill its only a matter of time before he gets going. To think, people are actually questioning one of the star players on this team. Its not just the offensive side he brings, I think alot of people forget that. This guy backchecks more then any player I know in the league. He is our most defensive forward we have, right beside Drapes.

I got blasted a few months ago for saying I would trade Z for Hossa because Z doesnt perform in the playoffs..

And you still would. He's in a slump... he'll come out. But to trade a way a key piece of our team for a rental that's not as good? bad idea.

I am fairly confident that Z will step it up and get back to playing great.

Having said that, the age-old question of who is better, Dats or Zetts can be completely put to rest: Datsyuk is a better overall player. I have never been more convinced of this than I am now. Datsyuk makes people around him better, more than anyone else in the league. Thats right, more than Ovechkin, more than Crosby, Datsyuk is the BEST at making his linemates better.

I'm not saying he was great last night, but all of those rushes there wasn't a Red Wing within 10 feet of him, and he had no other option. If you recall, he did split (and fought through) two Dmen a month or so ago only to score the games first goal with around 5 minutes left in regulation.

The thing is, he tried rushing in on multiple defenders when the Wings were on a line change. It wasn't as if he was being a puck-hog and didn't want to pass. He probably just wanted to see if he could create something out of nothing or hold on to the puck until the line change was complete and then make a pass.

Yeah, because Hossa is money in the playoffs! Hossa just got his first goal the other night in his last 2 post seasons.

Last year Z had 6 goals and 8 assists in 18 games. How is that "not performing" in the playoffs.

Great trade idea.

"I got blasted a few months ago for saying I would trade Z for Hossa because Z doesnt perform in the playoffs.. "

i'd still blast you too. Z will be here for years for a reason. and hossa would have hit the bricks come summer time.

hossa: 1 goal 4 helpers +3.

Zetterberg: 2 goals 1 helper +3.

take into consideration as well that pitt DOMINATED ott like they were a peewee team and we are struggling with nash. of course the players of a team that sweeps another is going to have decent stats.

yes, hossa has the edge thus far, but its not as though zetts has been useless.

Z isn't the problem. I thought he actually had a strong game last night. Maybe I'm going nuts, but shouldn't we be more upset with the no-shows in this series so far like Franzen, Cleary, Filppula, and Samuelsson? Like previous times this season, the Red Wings are back to one line creating all of the scoring chances, and scoring most/all of the goals.

* The whole Hossa for Z argument is absurd. Hossa is a classic playoff bust. There is no way I want Marian Hossa over Henrik Zetterberg for this or any playoff run. Again, when things go "bad" people will suggest just about anything on here. So far, we need a new captain, a different GM, a louder arena, and now Z takes his turn.

He just wasn't burying his chances last night, but not because of lack of effort.

He's been far from the best Wing but to say he has been invisible is a bit of a stretch. He's still getting involved in the offense and creating some chances.

He'll step up...but I don't think he should be singled out since theres a handful of other guys that aren't playing well either.

You would say that! forget our offense for a second, our defense has been shotty lately. we are suppose to be the best defenseive team in the league, but it hasnt looked like it lately. Yes Z needs to step it up, but so does our whole defense. If we play sound defensivley i think our offense will fall into place as well. I think getting Ozzie in net will solidify the defense and give our offense a little bit of a spark. Or atleast i hope so!

Yeah you should edit this post if you dont want to get "blasted" again, because that would have been a huge mistake.....Hossa wouldnt even of stayed here at the end of the season, so we would have lost a franchise player and then lost the guy we would hve traded our franchise player for. We lose both ways. Plus Hossa is overrated and hasnt impressed me much since the trade. Seemed like a cancer in Atlanta and i dont think it would have been good to put that in the wings locker room.
