Franzen for Conn Smythe?

I'd pick Osgood myself, but this column makes an argument for Franzen to win Conn Symthe.

If he keeps up on the pace he's on, and the Wings do, in fact, win 16 games these playoffs, it would be very hard not to at least strongly consider him for the award.

Playoffs aren't even half over, but if this did happen, I'd be happy.

I'd be more happy if Datsyuk won it though, after all the doubts he has faced as a true playoff performer in his past... If he could win Conn Smythe, that would whipe the slate clean.

I agree with "puckbags," that it's quite premature to be discussing the MVP winner when the playoffs aren't even half over: "wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy to early!!" but I can also see "BeeRYCE's" position of whipping Datsyuk's slate clean.

Really getting ahead of ourselves here, but for the sake of discussion, if it ended today and we won, I'd say it's more likely to be between Osgood and Datsyuk. I'm thinking it'd be between Franzen, Osgood and Datsyuk though without a doubt and if it continues like it has, same deal. I would kinda expect Osgood to get it if he keeps those numbers up and wins a Cup. It'd be comparable to Franzen/Datsyuk stats but he's a goalie and it's a better story. Personally, I'm pulling for Datsyuk though I think...

funny thing on franzen. my friends and i used to call him jeff as kinda a joke, because my buddy heard the name and thought that he head jeff freisen. so ive been calling him jeff franzen as kinda a joke and without realizing it, i completly forgot his name wasnt actually jeff! when he recently started scoring alot i thought to myself, o yeah his name is johan, but my friends and i still call him jeff. to me he is now jeff franzen.
