no, but the butt end of his stick caught Ribeiro in the face.

(and once again, I'm am not justifying Ribeiro's two hander). Ozzy stuck his stick out, probably didn't mean to catch Ribeiro in the face with it, then Ribeiro came back and gave him a two hander to the chest.

Alright, you win?

Versus hates Detroit so much that they have carried every single Red Wings playoff game that NBC hasn't this year... Osgood sold it, you can take a 98 mph slapshot off of that shoulder pad without flinching, but a slash took him to the ice? Please... he may get a game, important fact is the 2-1 score and the 2-0 series lead. Otherwise, Ozzie walked away, no harm done. It's called hockey, not basketball.
 Well yeah, Versus is under contract to carry the games. It's not like they said "ohh we love the wings so let's take all the games NBC doesn't want!"

Not so much.

it's all about RATINGS , that's why they've covered us, we're the most popular team in the WEst, one of the most pop. in the league.

Phoenix doubled ALL their tixs to Detroit games,

that's why the NHL doesn't want us in the Eastern conf. -- we're the cash-cow of the Western conf.

I don't care what the league does to Ribeiro, all I care about is seeing the team respond in game 3. I want to see every check finished on him and general animosity focused in his direction all game long.

I'm not afraid at all of us going to Dallas.

Half the fans will be wearing Wings jerseys, the other half will be wearing Cowboys jerseys. No sweat.

Agreed. Going into Dallas with all the momentum, even with Franzen. Not scared one bit, we should win 1 game in Dallas, if not both.

I don't. Worst thing the Wings can do is get rattled and focus on a single player. We have to keep attacking Dallas as a whole and not get distracted.

Game 3, as usual, will probably be the hardest of the series. They're at home. They played better. Detroit needs to step it up even more to win in Dallas and get some garbage goals. With the home crowd and animosity Dallas will be much more physical.

not that it matters, but I didn't think Ozzie "started" it. Ribeiro brushed the end of his stick, skating by. Maybe I didn't have a good angle, or something, but it looked accidental to me. The slash from Ribiero wasn't.

Anyway, Ozzie's OK, and the Wings will be aware that Dallas players are capable of this sort of stuff (well, one of them is). If he plays in game 3, Ribiero better have his head on a swivel.

I'll put a different view on this, imagine how much better game 3 is gonna be post Ozzie slash compared to if it never happened. I saw a thread earlier about people saying the playoffs are boring this year, there's no rivalries, no real nasty games or hard fights like we saw ten to fifteen years ago. I say this may be good to spark the rest of a hard hitting, nasty playoff series. Bring on the blood in Dallas.

Actually, rumor is that Hasek started it by paying Ribeiro off to do that.

Would be much more severe if he was injured. You think Bertuzzi would have faced criminal charges and gotten that much of a suspension if Moore had just gotten back up on his feet and kept skating?

I don't know if this was directed at me, but...

Yes, the damage done to the "victim" does factor into the punishment in these cases. When I say it's a moot point that Osgood walked away without an apparent injury, I mean that, regardless of anything else, the fact of the matter is that Ribeiro's actions are suspension-worthy. Even if Osgood is 100% OK right now, Ribeiro still deserves at least a game.

Anyhow, this should make things interesting.

I would like to ask a question, and get a honest answer. Why does everyone care that Versus hates the Wings? If you only want to read feel good Red Wings stories read the freep or detnews. The f does it matter what Versus thinks.

In my opinion its only one game...but it better be that one game...
