I would like to ask a question, and get a honest answer. Why does everyone care that Versus hates the Wings? If you only want to read feel good Red Wings stories read the freep or detnews. The f does it matter what Versus thinks.

Because a professional announcing crew for a National, and not a local broadcast, should show no bias one way or the other.

Ribiero is a pansy. Almost as blatant as Calgary's backup goalie slash last year, and that got like 5 games if I recall correctly. Still, he'll probably only get a game for it, if that.

I didn't think we were all that good tonight, but we won so that's all that matters. Stuart turned it over a lot. Our big guns looked great though. I liked how Drake and Sammy played as well. Too bad about Franzen, let's just hope he can get better very soon. Also, congrats to Helm on his first career playoff goal. I hope we see many more from him, he has been awesome.

beyond that, do they not hear stuff like how they just went on about how deep Detroit is? how much talent they have? How yes it's hard for them to lose Mule, but the Wings have so much talent it won't kill them?

When watching games throughout the year, we are spoiled by Ken and Mick.

When watching national coverage games, unbiased announcing or at least somewhat even would not sound so much like nails on chalkboard.

In my opinion its only one game...but it better be that one game...

It was directed to your comment, but not in argument. I think he deserves a game, and will get a game. I was more speaking toward the people saying give him 10-20 games, where that would really only be reasonable if Ozzie was injured on the play and missed a few games.

Solid win by Detroit. We got away with a 4 on 1 but the D was air-tight during the last 10 minutes of the 3rd.

P.S. Dallas is pathetic... it's clear they can't keep up with us so I guess they decided they should try to stir up some s*** because that would accomplish a whole lot of NOTHING.

I don't. Worst thing the Wings can do is get rattled and focus on a single player.

That's the second worst thing they can do. The worst thing they can do is just "let it go." I'm not talking about taking themselves out of their game, I'm talking about someone getting in his face and letting him know he can't do that and just expect to get away with it.

No way does he deserve that. I think that anything more than 2 is too much for that, but it should probably recieve a one gamer.

I agree with you. Oz lifted his stick not even noticing butthead skating by.

He knew Rebiero was going by, as a goalie you know whats going on, and you are trained to use peripheral vision quite well. He definately knew...

But it doen't warrent that reaction

People hear what they want to hear, just like they see what they want to see (I work in retail and I can't tell you how many people think "the signs they saw had a different price").

I don't know if this was directed at me, but...

Yes, the damage done to the "victim" does factor into the punishment in these cases. When I say it's a moot point that Osgood walked away without an apparent injury, I mean that, regardless of anything else, the fact of the matter is that Ribeiro's actions are suspension-worthy. Even if Osgood is 100% OK right now, Ribeiro still deserves at least a game.

Anyhow, this should make things interesting.

Franzen was okay after Noodles swung at him and Noodles still got 4. This shot seemed to be aimed at a more vulnerable spot on the player (Ozzie's throat), so who knows?

EDIT: I suck and blame the beer. Franzen, Franzen, Franzen. Not Homer. :P

#1 its the players job to avoid the goalie in the game

Suprised there isn't more talk about the called-off goal for the "hand pass" on Zetterberg. Would have been 3-1 instead of 2-1, a win regardless, but that's sticking out in my head more than the slash.

Its basically a non-issue because the Wings won.

If they had lost, especially if it were by 1, there would be more talk of it.

Jamie McLennan, backup goaltender for the Flames last year.

In the playoffs last season, he came in for Kipper and after about 40 seconds of being on the ice, took a two-hander to Holmstrom's Franzen's midsection, completely unprovoked.

He was suspended for 4 games (I think it was 4?), but he was basically a sacrificial lamb from the Flames, using a non-vital player to try and injure one of our vital guys.

EDIT: Dammit, I don't know why I keep saying Homer, I know it's Franzen. :P
