Teams Nobody Cares About

The Vikings... WTF everyone in minnesota, is ******* nuts about them. Just because Minneapolis refuses to dish out millions of dollars to build a new stadium when the old one is just fine (for football) doesnt mean that no one cares about them.

Quite true.

The Vikes are huge here in ND. Since we have no pro teams, folks around here tend to root for the Minnesota teams. Football is huge around here, moreso than any other sport. If all of North Dakota is rooting for the Vikings...oh, wait. I just remembered the population of ND. Oh, well, carry on, then.

Funny story: My dad was in the hospital in South Dakota a couple of weeks ago and was being transferred to Rochester (Minnesota). He asked my sister to bring him a Lions hat. I asked why he didn't just wear his Wings hat. He replied "There's more Vikings fans than Wild fans." (He's fine now, BTW.)

Boston on that list is a joke. I think they have the 4th highest fanbase in all of North America behind the Wings, Habs, and Leafs. Here in Windsor, I can think of a handfull of Bruins fans at the top of my head. Bobby Orr and Cam Neely have a lot to do with it too.

That's true, but let's look at Boston's team pages and how they rank at CBS Sportsline.com

Red Sox = 13,299, second behind the Yankees at 14,281

Patriots = 11,890, second behind Cowboys at 13,771

Celtics = 11,216, first, second place Bulls at 8,856

Bruins = 5,995, second behind Red Wings at 8,823

I guess he forgot to mention the entire WNBA, as well as the Nashville Predators, Columbus Blue Jackets, Tampa Bay Lightning....and, tell whoever wrote the article that I hear that the Motor City's local hockey team is pretty good; last I heard, weren't the Pistons the ones with the "everyone for sale" sign out front?

What?

The author is more focused on how well a team does rather then whether fans care about them or not. <_<

Thus if this was made 25-30 yrs ago, the wings would have been on the list because they were not a winning team.

It saddened me to hear Chris Chelios admit that Detroit is a baseball town, when they went to the World Series. I never understood how the Lions continue to sell out games at home. Hard to laugh at the Maple Leafs if you're a Lions fan, I'd say.

Thanks. Baseball isn't something I follow closely or at all.

Then pretty impressive that you guessed 80 something, when I first started watching baseball, I was shocked they play 162 games a season.

Yeah when I found out I freaked too. I have a friend who watches baseball and I think that's how I know.

Because people are paying to see the Packers, Bears, Vikings play? I cannot imagine shelling out money to the Ford family to see the product they field - as long as you current Detroiters continue to support that crap, nothing will change.
