haroldsnepsts 4,826 Report post Posted September 16, 2008 I'm just amazed. How do you get nothing for a defenseman who can play 20+ minutes a game, is great on the point for the PP, put up 39 points in 65 games and was +22 last season. Even though he's overpaid, I figured someone out there would deal for him.

The sad part is, he really isn't that overpaid anymore considering the new Cap number and the insane UFA signings we saw this summer. Jeff Finger for $3.5...WTF! ltgator333 3 Report post Posted September 16, 2008 Dear Schneids- HA HA HAHAHA inyourface. Why the hell would anyone want to play for Anahiem anyway?? Burke is a real peice of work, as shown by this bone headed move. I still can't believe they actually won a championship.
akustyk 84 Report post Posted September 16, 2008 I can imagine Burke has pissed so many other GM's that they simply played hard-ball with him and waived all trade proposal. hence the best GM in the NHL had no other option but to waive d-man he bribed from Wings screw him. hope Schneids comes back to LA and helps the club get into contention. and to kick Ducks asses severely, too here's a good Belgian beer for another miserable season of this excuse for a franchise

Wings_Fan_In_Exile 3 Report post Posted September 16, 2008 Great news, hahahaha. I love it! Well played Burkie. The best part being another waived player that will probably end up within his same division again, with no return. hahaha
edicius 3,269 Report post Posted September 16, 2008 And the funny thing is that this effectively only frees up 2.39M for Teemu. You'd think Burke could have gotten at least a draft pick for him, but I'm getting the feeling that other GMs don't even want to give THAT much to Burke. You'd think Burke could have gotten at least a draft pick for him, but I'm getting the feeling that other GMs don't even want to give THAT much to Burke. Explain. My math has this giving ANA $4.437 million worth of Cap room *given* that a team claims him.
ElCapitan 14 Report post Posted September 16, 2008 What would make this really funny, as it pertains to the brilliance of Burke, would be if the Ducks had to put Schneider on re-entry waivers.
deker 0 Report post Posted September 16, 2008 (edited) What would make this really funny, as it pertains to the brilliance of Burke, would be if the Ducks had to put Schneider on re-entry waivers. I wouldn't be surprised at all if that happened. Any GM worth his salt would be an idiot to give up an asset to Anaheim because they all know that the Ducks are over the cap. Schneider's good, but obviously he's not quite the in-demand D-man he used to be or else you would see a little more competition to take him off Burke's hands. Even Garth Snow knows to wait for a cap clearing move like waivers to happen instead of offering up a trade. And if you're waiting for waivers, why not hold your ground to see if you can get him for even less money. I do feel bad for Schneider. He hadn't even been a Duck for more than a few weeks last season when the imminent return of Niedermeyer had everyone touting him as trade bait. Clearly leaving Detroit and giving up playing along side Lidstrom wasn't the best career move. Edited September 16, 2008 by deker
Red Wave 0 Report post Posted September 16, 2008 Why Schneider didnt stay 2 years ago and take the same or a few less dollars from the Wings is beyond me? Did he have a choice or was is pure money when he left the Wings? To bad they waited so long to cut his butt loose or we may have signed him again.

b.shanafan14 733 Report post Posted September 16, 2008 HAHAHAHA Burke is the worst GM alive! Gives away Mathieu Schneider for NOTHING! haha this is just as bad as throwing about Bryzgalov for nothing. I think someone was right before, must be less work for Burke to just give him away. God forbid he uses his mouth for negotiations.
Dabura 12,232 Report post Posted September 16, 2008 Burke's eyes are on Toronto. And he's the kind of vindictive assninja who will drive an organization into the ground if he knows he's on the outs with it.
b.shanafan14 733 Report post Posted September 16, 2008 Not to be rude, but I could told you that last year already. Burke really isn't the genius so many of the media have made him out to be. He bailed on VAN after he left it in shambles and he'll do the same in ANA. Next year, he'll be gone. Exactly
RedWingedKitten 9 Report post Posted September 16, 2008 He riped apart Vancover and now he's ripping apart Anaheim. I'm so glad we have Kenny, and loyal captians who don't take months off under contract...
yzefan 2 Report post Posted September 16, 2008 You know what truely makes me laugh. Schneid leaves for a better shot at winning in Cali and we go on to bring home lord stanley and now no one will sign him , yet they sign Brian McCabe (who is a Brutal D-man) to nearly the same kind of cash in Florida. Who's kickin themselves now?? Florida Or Schneids???
StevieY9802 6 Report post Posted September 16, 2008 I'm not totally surprised. You would think you could get something but a what 39 year old making almost 6mil? Now if you want him you can sign him probably for much less. This one I can't fault him as much as last year with Bryzgalov(sp?). You mean you couldn't get anything for a the guy who was making under 2mil a year? But he couldn't get Neidermeyer to make up his mind and Selanne didn't know if he wanted to come back and that kinda hurt him. That plus the stupid signing of Bert and it's been all down hill. He got caught up in the looking at just one year and not longer term. Eh well don't feel bad for him. Not really feeling bad for Schneider either. He took the bigger money to go back to LA, he got one year of it and will still get I think 2/3's for whats left plus sign a new deal that will probably be with the Kings. Other than not being able to win a Cup I don't see him losing much.

shoe 165 Report post Posted September 16, 2008 Many people are saying haha Burke you got nothing for him, true but they also didnt give up anything to get him. Burke may have signed him for 2 reasons 1 a good defenceman and 2 taking away a defenceman from a rival team oops Detroit countered signing Rafalski.
