stevkrause 1,247 Report post Posted October 6, 2008 (edited) I'm calling it now - this will be the lineup on starting day. Hossa-Datsyuk-Homlstrom Franzen-Zetterberg-Hudler Cleary-Filpulla-Samuelsson (ugh) Kopecky-Draper-Malby Reserves: Leino Downey Lidstrom-Rafalski Kronwall-Stuart Lebda-Lilja Reserve: ONE of the remaining Meech/Quincy Osgood Conklin Quincy or Meech will be moved I would guess... either way, I'd bet that one of the d-men will be moved and we will carry 14 forwards and 7 D, then send one of the forwards down when Cheli returns Edited October 7, 2008 by stevkrause
dteowner 20 Report post Posted October 6, 2008 Franzen's going to be pretty busy playing both wings. I assume you reality-checked this on the salary cap. I believe, once Cheli is back, you'll be over.
Blood On The Ice 15 Report post Posted October 6, 2008 I'm calling it now - this will be the lineup on starting day. It does him no good to sit. I would like to see them trade sammy and keep Leino. But that won't happen. Leino goes to GR unless he's on a line. The kid looks great though. Opie 308 Report post Posted October 6, 2008 The team has stated 13 forwards and 8 D-men, plus you have Franzen playing both wings, if you are going to tell people to mark down your roster, you may want to make sure that your post's quality matches your confidence. timothy1997 0 Report post Posted October 6, 2008 poor poor hudler gets the shaft again especially when he is replaced by a 2nd Franzen. So we are cloning NHL players now and we pick Franzen?? Can't we clone Lidstrom, Zetterberg, Datsyuk first.
GMRwings1983 8,803 Report post Posted October 6, 2008 Franzen has been so hot lately that he can play both wing positions. What's the point of even having 3 forwards on every line when you can have Hank and Mule?
lfd250 1 Report post Posted October 6, 2008 And according to Mcwhatever from the MaComb Daily the wings will carry Howard until his broken finger heals. He will count against the 23 man roster.

Correct, you can't send an injured player down until they come back from injured status.

Konnan511 1,736 Report post Posted October 6, 2008 Leino will NOT ride the bench for the Wings nor the Griffs. So any roster that has him as a 13th forward is null.

Feldmarschall 9 Report post Posted October 6, 2008 Helm and Leino will not be retained on the Wings roster when they can be getting massive icetime in GR, barring any further injuries to the forward corps. It just makes no sense for them to be in Detroit if they aren't playing. It's far more likely that Downey or McCarty will be the thirteenth forward.

Can't we clone Lidstrom, Zetterberg, Datsyuk first. Yzerman, Howe, Lindsay Since we're cloning adults, assumedly we've figured out a way to accelerate the maturation process..so why not clone some of the best forwards ever. We could clone Mark Howe too. And Chelios, and Konstantinov...
SouthernWingsFan 854 Report post Posted October 7, 2008 I've only seen one preseason game on TV on NHL Network so I don't know the in's and out's of what's happened this preseason, and I'm a pretty big idiot, but I'm going to still go on my assumptions that Helm and Leino would be better suited with more ice time in the minors vs. just 5 minutes on a 4th line with the big club. With that in mind, I have the final forward spot with a physical/enforcer focus with Downey getting a slight edge over McCarty. Downey was pretty bad yesterday, but I can't judge fairly off just 1 game seen and I think Downey brings the enforcement aspect a little bit better than Mac, while McCarty this day/age won't bring too much more on the offensive side. And we're not looking for this final forward spot to provide offense first.
