Wow! Talk about living on a prayer. I don't think a single person on earth can figure out this U-M team, but I'm not complaining! It also gives you MSU fans the Big Ten crown.

Nothing more than the typical weird inconsistency of bubble teams, I think.

I think Michigan still needs to at least split the next two, and also at least one win in the Big Ten tournament. Do that and they'll be at worst 20-13 with wins over Duke, UCLA on a neutral court, and Purdue. That's a tournament resume, even if only a 12 or 11 seed. The announcers were talking yesterday like beating Purdue wrapped it up, but that's only because they'd been talking up Purdue all night and what tough, gritty, gutsy players Hummel and Kramer were.

I agree on the split, plus a B10 tourney win. You also forgot to mention beating Illinois, that should count as a solid win. Wow, if you subtract that OSU lose at home things would be looking very promising.

Outright Big Ten champs baby!

Not to steal MSU's thunder, just making a point: I thought playoffs/tournaments were the only thing that could truly crown a legitimate championship. Which is why I don't understand the media hype over teams that "win" the conference championship before the tournament is held.

I agree with you on that really. The champion ought to be decided after the Big Ten Tournament. But, if the Big 10 wants to give MSU another banner to hang in the Breslin, I'm not going to complain.

Love Raymar's dunk here to seal the win.

I had planned on watching the game, honest Injun I did, but a coworker offered up free tix to the BC-GT game today, so I went up and watched a terrific ACC game instead. Man...1998. That was the year five Michigan teams represented at the tourney.

Cinderella will be wearing Maize and Blue this March!!!!!!

How's that yellow and blue kool-aide taste? ;)

In case anyone was wondering, Delvon Roe is a baaaaaad man. I can't wait to see how good he is in a couple years.

Not going to lie I'm drinking a lot of it  If they lose to Iowa I'm going to buy a keg of it!

If Delvon was 100% all year I wonder if he would be considered 1 and done. I remember in HS some people considered him, Jennings, and Mullens to be possible guys that would do that.

Rankings:

#1 North Carolina

#2 Pittsburgh

#3 Connecticut

#4 Memphis

#5 Louisville

#6 Oklahoma

#7 Michigan State

If MSU wins out and wins the big ten tourny, should they get a #1 seed in a bracket?

Pitt, UCONN, Louisville all in the Big East. 2 of those teams might slip to a #2 seed. If Oklahoma doesn't win the Big 12, how can you include them in the #1 seed if MSU wins the big ten outright. Just something I thought about.

Also I think Michigan needs 2 wins in the Big Ten Tourny for any shot in the NCAA tournament.

IMO the #1 seeds should be UNC, Pitt, L'ville, and whoever wins the Big 12 tourney as long as it's OU or KU. Depending on how the Big East tourney shakes out - if UConn wins it makes things interesting.

I think the Big Ten is just like the ACC in football this year, only with that one team that's actually really good. Otherwise, the 2 through 9 seeds are capable of beating or losing to just about anyone, much like the ACC football season. I'm not convinced that rolling through a schedule like that is worth a 1 seed for MSU. MSU's a solid 2 seed along with UConn, Duke, and the Big 12 runner-up, although you could make a case for Memphis. I think Memphis is hurt by being king of the mud.

PS - you don't honestly think Michigan has to win two games in the BTT to make the NCAAs? Really? Given the number of other bubble teams that honked it up lately (Maryland, VT, Davidson, Creighton, St. Mary's, URI, etc. etc.) I think Michigan's at least a 75% chance of getting in even with a loss to Iowa, and beating Iowa makes them a stone-cold lock. That'd give U-M 20 wins including Duke and neutral-court UCLA. As it stands now I think Michigan's an 11 seed - 10 if they win two in the BTT.

Speaking of kool aid, how much have you been having? There is no way that is true. Two wins to have ANY chance? Yeah right!

Michigan has a edge over several bubble teams including Creighton, Florida, Penn State, Va. Tech, Maryland, Oklahoma State, New Mexico, and pretty even with Arizona, South Carolina, and Boston College.

As for MSU I think they should be a No. 1 seed no matter what happens in the BTT. They have the most top 50 RPI wins of anyone, and won the B10 by four games which is very impressive.

I'd say that Pitt, UConn, and UNC have number 1 seeds locked up. The last is up for grabs. MSU has a very good shot at the last spot, but winning the BTT is probably going to be necessary.

Michigan is in. Beating Purdue the other day sealed it. If they had lost, I would have said they'd need to win a game or two. But now I think they're in regardless.

Well, KU can kiss a number one seed goodbye.
