haroldsnepsts 4,826 Report post Posted January 1, 2009 Poor little van Riemsdyk.... poor little guy "looked like " he might have taken a hit. Does it excuse the American guy on the bench for sticking a player in the face? According to Sneptsy it does. Van Riemsdyk should leave his purse in the dressing room next time he feels like milking a hit where it "looked like" something bad happened to him. God help that poor bugger if he makes it to the NHL. That said, I hope Della Rovere gets suspended for the semifinal for his hit from behind in the second. Absoltuely no reason that shouldn't have been a major. Hey numnuts, can you show me the part where I say it excuses him for sticking the guy in the face? And you might be thinking of DiDomenico for flopping like he'd been shot, then he's suddenly all better.
haroldsnepsts 4,826 Report post Posted January 1, 2009 It was wrong, just saying, they brought it upon themselves. just like that kid brought the stick to the face on himself?
skacore 2 Report post Posted January 1, 2009 just like that kid brought the stick to the face on himself? Gonna try and keep it simple here... U.S. taunted Canada first Canada taunted the U.S. in response U.S. player gave a Canadian player some lumber (which I have no problem with) Canadian player gave it back to U.S. player in response I can admit that both teams weren't showing class, but at the same time they are just kids. Canada was unclassy, U.S. was unclassy. I can admit that, can you? All you keep talking about is how the Canadian taunted the American bench.
sibiriak 84 Report post Posted January 2, 2009 Stefan Liv is absolute garbage, everyone around here makes fun of him, he's famous for letting real easy pucks go through him, im sure there are many vids of it at youtube They got triple-digit numbers in the AHL now? Cern 0 Report post Posted January 2, 2009 His GAA coming into this game is 1.67 and he's 3-0. Yeah...that's garbage alright! [/sarcasm] Look at the teams the US played against coming into that game. That's like saying you're an awesome arm wrestler because you can consistently win against five-year-olds.
Guest mindfly Report post Posted January 2, 2009 (edited) http://www.hockeyexpressen.se/Nyheter/1.14...rt-efter-succen Detroits own european scout Hakan Andersson says: -He could become one of the worlds best goaltenders It also says that Andersson wanted detroit to pick Markstrom in favour of McCollum but no further explanation given. So why did they pick McCollum? hmm? I would love to hear the discussion behind the decsision.. maybe they really believe in larsson, and wanted to have a north american goalie for the future as well? I guess I don't really remember the U.S. taunting that much to set it off. Of course, I could be biased. lol I mainly brought up the Canadian taunting because of the ridiculousness of McGuire. Saying that some kid got tomahawked, and the way a lot of people were reacting you'd think he was innocently skating towards the bench after thanking God and saving a drowning puppy, when this U.S. player came up and brutally slashed him in the face for no reason. But yes, both teams need to exhibit more restraint.
CrossoverThrash 0 Report post Posted January 2, 2009 Are you kidding me? These are some of the funnest games you can watch. You aint a hockey fan your just a Red Wings fan. Also how do you watch 4 games a night? Theres not to many days a year where its possible to watch more than 2 in a day unless your video taping these games. Yeah like your that hardcore. You watch parts of 4 games a day dam your special so does everybody else on here. I watch all hockey, I dont care who, where, or why, if theres a game on ill watch it. Could be 12 year old girls ill watch it. i dvr them (2 at a time/flip through games), and skim through them looking for this, i will follow most hockey if there is checking involved, i will watch the championship game for the WJC's but some people act like its the finals or something, which i woudl argue, if your that offended, go ahead watch all of your 12 year old girl games, ill stick to watching the best league in the world, the nhl every night. Guest Four Report post Posted January 2, 2009 All this argument about the USA/Canada game is dumb. Both teams were being teenagers, which the majority are - give them a break! Not to mention the World Juniors showcase the best hockey I've ever seen in my life. I find myself a lot of times thinking to myself (when watching the Wings), "man, the Canadians seem to show better control than Detroit in both ends" and lines like that, because it truly is when watching, teams like USA/Canada, an all-star game in itself that allows all the players to show us what they can do in their own playing field and show us how amazing each one of them are before coming in to the NHL, where everything is so much harder and is slightly less entertaining. Anomalously 0 Report post Posted January 2, 2009 There are AHL players that have gone to the SEL and failed, what does that prove? I don't know why Liv failed but SEL is definatly better than the AHL imo. Maybe the top teams in the AHL could play well against an average SEL team though. My point was being a top goaltender in one league doesn't guarantee success in another, regardless of the parity between the leagues.

To me I find a highlight of the year puck juggle goal, nation vs nation showdowns, Phaneuf and Tootoo's (and even Jim Sandlak's) huge hits, a Kyle Wellwood goal on one knee going across the net, Manny Legace stopping the Swedish team, semi-final shootout last year with Canada and USA (Jonathon Toews amazing 3 shooutout goals), the "Punch-up in Piestany", the teenage showboating and gloating, a Dustin Tokarski robbing on Wilson, a Nikolai Kulemin's end to end goal on USA, all the hattricks, all the pretty goals, all the team play and pride and most importantly, watching future NHL ALLSTARS playing their own age and seeing their skills and there is so much more as being the best. Quit being so narrow-minded and telling me my theory is flawed, when I clearly said "I've ever seen in my life". If you have a different opinion, then great, but don't be such a bigoted tard about it. Edited January 2, 2009 by Four

Again, quit being so bigoted. I even saw in a thread you gloating about how much you watch. Dude, quit acting like you are the best ******* NHL fan in the world and see through your thickness that not everyone finds the NHL as "exciting" as you think it is. In fact, I watch all the Red Wings games I can, all the Leafs games I can and I watch all the NHL highlights I can from the night before and play it. I know how hockey works, don't take me for a fool because I don't have the same damn opinion as you. And also, I never called the WJ players more talented, I said they were talented for their age they play in, making the games more exciting because it's all talented players trying to show the NHL how good they are. They are all trying to showoff and be the best they can be in the tournament. Homer.

Homer. ok, you get a thrill out of inexpreience, i personally enjoy the finished product, and i had to gloat, people claimed i knew nothing about hockey, i was stating the facts, there are probably people out there more insane than me, i watch a lot of hockey, play alot, and from my experience it is impossible to top the NHL. Maybe your experiences are different but i can guarantee more people find the NHL more exciting than the world juniors, the wjc's may be more special because they are only for a short time but overall, over 1000 games of NHl hockey are year is imo more exciting than a few weeks of wjc. CrossoverThrash 0 Report post Posted January 2, 2009 Everyone I know would watch a Team Canada game on a Saturday night over a Leafs' game... without question. If the games mattered it would be a different story, most nhl games dont matter as much during the WJCs , if they did, a lot less people would watch the wjc over the NHL, personnaly, just the fact that anything amazing could happen in the NHL on a much higher skill level than wjc draws me in

Your off for holidays usually, and you get to cheer on your country while there giving 110% every night. These kids have to play hard, they have to for there countries. That's everyone, the slovaks, the germans, everyone. That's why its so great to watch, intense hockey. And holy cow! The Slovaks are up 2-1 on the US right now and Janus is robbing them!
