Phoenix Coyotes -- Worst organization in sports

Rate this topic

Recommended Posts

I was wondering if anyone has any ideas for how the Coyotes can become a successful franchise? They seem to finally be developing talent from within so thats a good sign for the future. As far as getting more fans, I always thought they needed to start interest in hockey in the state from the ground up. Ice hockey is expensive to jump straight into, so why promote roller hockey or street hockey. (300+ days of sun). Then you've got a generation of young kids growing up that are into hockey. Other than that, they have an awesome facility and surrounding area, so if they can get some excitement in the city going with a playoff run, and good business management to go with it, they could have a something to build off. I am a firm believer that once you expose people to hockey that most people get hooked.

I don't put much stock into this 'worst organization ' title. This team will eventually be managed appropriately and get reorganized.

It's a known fact that professional sports can survive in a halfway decent tv market in the desert. But I think when you have an organization that is being held hostage by the city they play for, problems will arise. This organization doesn't have the basic revenues that others organizations achieve so easily, such as concessions and parking.

As far as organizations trading away, I mean giving away players. The Coyotes are right there behind the Islanders.

Giving away? They were probably the biggest winner of this whole trade deadline. They are getting rid of these dead weight acquisitions like Jokinnen, who obviuosly didn't want to be there, who played terrible with Doan. I believe they are making quality moves at this point.

I am not talking about this year. Yes, I agree that this year they did well as they robbed both Calgary and New York blind. They also traded a goon away for Upshall, well done. But in the past, when Barnett was their GM, a lot of Milbury like trades were made.

I doubt they are the worst, however I don't think they are in the right city. I'm sorry, but banking on a bunch of snowbirds to support a team isn't the way to go. Will say the same for vegas. I wouldn't mind a 2 game deal for the wings in Vegas. AKA every team gets a weekend. That would be fun. But I will say it again, snowbirds went south to get away from cold.

I just want to point out that they are not exactly being held hostage by the city. They do get concessions revenue. I suppose there were some quirks with the whole set up but it wasn't completely terrible, and they did just rework their contract. In fact the city let them not pay their rent or any bills for 7 months (supposedly only unpaid because the contract was under review).

Tampa Bay is way, way, way worse than Phoenix. Seriously, they ended up ditching Dan Boyle for Noah Welsh and a 3rd round pick, and it took them 3 other trades to get there.

This year maybe but since 02-03 the yotes haven't made the playoffs and finished last in the pacific every year but once and that year they were 4th. Tampa has made the playoffs 3 times in that span and has a Cup. They also spend the money. The Yotes are in serious trouble financially and they might have gotten those guys at the deadline but how many will they be able to keep?

Depending on your perimeters, I'd say the Dallas Cowboys are somewhere way down on that list. Between the owner, the gen'l. manager, the coach, the offensive coach and the QB, they miiight just qualify.

OK, back to hockey.... :deal:

Pittsburgh Pirates?

Winnar. MLB is so f***ed up though. Its kinda unfair though the Pirates always seem to scout some of the best talent in the league but just pimp their rookies out to dump salary. Pirates sell out every game because of how beautiful the park is.

Just a note on the Coyotes and how bad shape they're in.....tonights game against the Wings was listed to be carried on Fox Sports Arizona.....and WAS NOT AIRED ANYWHERE. They didn't even televise the game here in Arizona!

Its only a matter of time before they're gone.

Where I am from this right here is what we call a Tell-Tale sign of things to come, and what is to come, no hockey in Phoenix!
