Carman 387 Report post Posted April 5, 2009 Yep, Avery is certainly worse then McSorley, Bertuzzi, Simon and Lemieux. I can't believe he has said such horrid things and even viciously attacks the opposing goalie with a baseball swing to the head. How is this man not in jail yet? elriqo28 2 Report post Posted April 5, 2009 an eye for an eye. I think Thomas should have returned the favor and belted Avery in the back of the head with his goalie stick. Too bad for suspensions in that sense. Nobody would mind seeing that happen.
Blueliner 69 Report post Posted April 5, 2009 Come on now. There's nothing to get all bent out of shape about. He didn't put any force behind it. It was just a tap. It's certainly not any worse than any of these: The things that he does are stupid, but that's all they are. They're not dangerous or unlawful. But that doesn't justify his expulsion from the league. The NHL has had players like this for years. I'm sure that Gordie Howe and Ted Lindsay did things far more worse. The reason why it's getting so much attention is because there are a bunch of pansy asses in a politically correct country. OMG, someone made a bad comment about their ex. Who hasn't done that? Should people be sent to sensivtivity counseling everytime they say something bad about their ex? People just need to chill out and realize there are far more serious things to worry about than this. IceMunkee 15 Report post Posted April 5, 2009 Chicken s*** for what? Avery WILL drop the gloves unlike the majority of our roster. Should he have just challenged the goaltender to a fight? Get serious man, he's agitating and nothing more. He purposely let his stick make contact on his way by only to piss Thomas off, and guess what, it worked exactly as planned. Good on Avery for not letting Bettman and his "counseling" change the way he play his game. esteef Agreed x2!!! you know what is more annoying than Avery and his instigating antics? Ovechkin and his childish goal celebrations!! I don't get it. What is wrong with AO's goal celebration. A little personality in a dying sport, everyone is trying to regulate it. Avery has never done anything, ANYTHING that would be considered malicous. Maybe I am wrong but dancing in front of a goalie and tapping another on the head and making rude comments about a puck bunny does not seem that bad. Let's hope you don't get your way. The Secret 304 Report post Posted April 6, 2009 This guy is nothing but trouble and he has absolutley no common sense... none. I don't know that he should be tarred and feathered but.... Each time he repeats as an offender he makes thing worse for himself since everyone is watching his every move. Thank God he is far far from our locker room, the negativity he brings with him greatly outweigh the positive aspects of his game. I think Avery should hook up with his female counterpart Lindsay Lohan... man the press they could generate and all the s*** they'd get into, it would be Hollywood gold. It could be the most popular s***-com on TV. Who wouldn't watch "When Sean met Lindsay"?

Grim 5 Report post Posted April 6, 2009 Chicken s*** for what? Avery WILL drop the gloves unlike the majority of our roster. Are you talking about the same Avery? he is renowned for keeping his gloves on. No worries about him coming here... this would be the last place he'd choose... absolutely no one to watch his back. gcom007 1,465 Report post Posted April 6, 2009 It was a silly thing for him to do, but come on, that was nothing more than a little love tap. It was lame, but there was nothing dangerous about that. It's the physical manifestation of trash-talking. Avery certainly isn't the brightest bulb in the box, but this is a minor league incident at best. This is one that I find easy to just laugh at and move on. I hope he doesn't get suspended to be honest. Even that gets ridiculous after awhile and is likely why he keeps pushing the boundaries. He probably loves Gary Bettman about as much as we do. Ever think of that?
Holmstrom96 347 Report post Posted April 6, 2009 (edited) What a bag of ******. Hat's off to Thomas for defending himself. F*** Sean Avery. Best quote ever, Tim Thomas: "You look up and see who it is, and you're like, 'You've got to be kidding me.' So it was just reflex." Hopefully this is just one/very few incidents resulting of him trying to get his act together after all the Dallas hoopla. If he wants attention for being a hockey player - Score some goals, Not have a career based on Suspensions, releases, trades, fights, bad comments, stupid antics. Sean Avery is a disgrace to NHL. He's a Gritty player for what he does On the Ice Between the whistles, No intentional contact should be made after the whistle .. What a Jack-A$$ I hope someone cleans his clock one day..... toby91_ca 620 Report post Posted April 6, 2009 If you are ever watching a Rangers game, do your best to go out of your way to watch the guy. He does this kind of crap ALL THE TIME when no one is looking. It's not that big a deal and does really cause any damage, but it just shows the kind of dick/pest he is. Someone mentioned earlier that Thomas didn't react at first until he saw who it was....which I thought was totally understandable. You know if it was someone else, nothing would have happened, but because it was Avery, Thomas knew damn well that it wasn't an accident and even though there was nothing dangerous about it at all, he wanted to get at Avery. As much dislike as I have for the guy and think he's an huge dick, this play actually worked for him, got under Thomas' skin.....plan worked. However, unlike the normal pest (guys like Maltby) who do their job and piss the other team off...Avery generally takes it too far and ends up hurting his team. Guest GordieSid&Ted Report post Posted April 6, 2009 In regards to this matter I give Sean Avery a 100% unconditional pass. Why? Because Jack Edwards is the biggest ******* jerkoff in the game. I hate his ass with a passion that burns deep in my veins. I want to literally take bat and smash my tv to pieces b/c I can't stand to listen to him. He is by far the worst announcer in the history of announcers. My only regret is that Avery didn't smack Edwards in the head with his stick.

C-TownWing 0 Report post Posted April 6, 2009 As for Avery - big deal, I mean really. People act like Avery was a suspected accessory to murder (whoops, that was the other professional sports league) or did something downright appalling like spit in the face of an official (darn, again, wrong professional sports league). He said sloppy seconds (big f*cking deal) and is better at being a pest then anyone in the league, and probably the best overall at agitating since the all time best, Dino Ciccarelli. I love Avery, and what I love even more is the crying and whining that his actions evoke from a portion of the hockey crowd - it's real time proof that he is doing exactly what he planned to and it's working like a charm. While I wouldn't want him back on the Wings and risk disrupting our great chemistry, I have to admit, I like the guy. And the rest of you have to admit that this thread is proof positive that he's great at his job.

He picks his spots, hell if he dropped everytime somebody wanted to go with him, he'd have 3 fights every game! He's a pest and a very good one, not a tough guy. esteef
Wings_Fan_In_Exile 3 Report post Posted April 6, 2009 I'm gonna have to agree with those that think this is yet another overblown incident involving Avery. He is a pest being a pest in this video. As previously mentioned, Jack Edwards was the one annoying me in that video. Thank god I don't live in MA and have to listen to him on a regular basis.. drwscc 212 Report post Posted April 6, 2009 Avery is such a good pest, he pisses off fans from teams that aren't even involved in the game. He is being Sean Avery. That's what he does. It wasn't injurious, it was designed to get under the skin of the opposition. That's what a pest does. That's what Maltby does. At least Avery will back it up occasionally. DatsMyWings13 4 Report post Posted April 6, 2009 Avery is a piece of trash! Being a pest is one thing but he goes way past that. I really want to see someone beat the s*** out of him!! Since when does a player have to be hurt in order for someones actions to be deemed ridiculous or unnecessary? This type of incident just shows how much of a worthless piece of trash this guys is. I've very happy he's not on the Wings!
Gizmo 21 Report post Posted April 6, 2009 (edited) Averys actually good for hockey. He creates a buzz and gives Betman a foil. Sorry man, but I don't think we need to look at the WWE as a model for the sport. Avery is the equivalent of the "pro" wrestler that pulls sand out of his boot and throws it in his opponents' eyes when the ref isn't looking. The NHL doesn't need isn't own "Iron Sheik".
