The things that he does are stupid, but that's all they are. They're not dangerous or unlawful. But that doesn't justify his expulsion from the league. The NHL has had players like this for years. I'm sure that Gordie Howe and Ted Lindsay did things far more worse. The reason why it's getting so much attention is because there are a bunch of pansy asses in a politically correct country. OMG, someone made a bad comment about their ex. Who hasn't done that? Should people be sent to sensivtivity counseling everytime they say something bad about their ex?

People just need to chill out and realize there are far more serious things to worry about than this.

I don't get it. What is wrong with AO's goal celebration. A little personality in a dying sport, everyone is trying to regulate it. Avery has never done anything, ANYTHING that would be considered malicous. Maybe I am wrong but dancing in front of a goalie and tapping another on the head and making rude comments about a puck bunny does not seem that bad.

Definitely. It's not really all that R-rated, but since it's Sean Avery, it's going to be overblown, whether it is fair or not. Hopefully this is just one/very few incidents resulting of him trying to get his act together after all the Dallas hoopla.

If you are ever watching a Rangers game, do your best to go out of your way to watch the guy. He does this kind of crap ALL THE TIME when no one is looking. It's not that big a deal and does really cause any damage, but it just shows the kind of dick/pest he is.

Someone mentioned earlier that Thomas didn't react at first until he saw who it was....which I thought was totally understandable. You know if it was someone else, nothing would have happened, but because it was Avery, Thomas knew damn well that it wasn't an accident and even though there was nothing dangerous about it at all, he wanted to get at Avery.

As much dislike as I have for the guy and think he's an huge dick, this play actually worked for him, got under Thomas' skin.....plan worked. However, unlike the normal pest (guys like Maltby) who do their job and piss the other team off...Avery generally takes it too far and ends up hurting his team.

He is by far the worst announcer in the history of announcers.

My only regret is that Avery didn't smack Edwards in the head with his stick.

As for Avery - big deal, I mean really. People act like Avery was a suspected accessory to murder (whoops, that was the other professional sports league) or did something downright appalling like spit in the face of an official (darn, again, wrong professional sports league). He said sloppy seconds (big f*cking deal) and is better at being a pest then anyone in the league, and probably the best overall at agitating since the all time best, Dino Ciccarelli.

I love Avery, and what I love even more is the crying and whining that his actions evoke from a portion of the hockey crowd - it's real time proof that he is doing exactly what he planned to and it's working like a charm.

While I wouldn't want him back on the Wings and risk disrupting our great chemistry, I have to admit, I like the guy. And the rest of you have to admit that this thread is proof positive that he's great at his job.

Avery does fight, check hockeyfights.com's numbers for proof. He picks his spots, hell if he dropped everytime somebody wanted to go with him, he'd have 3 fights every game! He's a pest and a very good one, not a tough guy.

Jeff Rimer for the Blue Jackets is far worse. He's horrible. He has Rick Nash's dick in his mouth half the game. But yes, Edwards is pretty bad. I remember when he did the Little League World Series. He was horrible back then.

Sorry man, but I don't think we need to look at the WWE as a model for the sport. Avery is the equivalent of the "pro" wrestler that pulls sand out of his boot and throws it in his opponents' eyes when the ref isn't looking. The NHL doesn't need isn't own "Iron Sheik".
