Rafalski OUT tonight, Chelios in

They can say whatever they want to the reporters, sometimes they say undisclosed but to get rid of questions they just say upper or lower and if they say upper it might as well be lower just to fool media (read:opponents), they are not obligated to reveal anything since last year, the GM's stated this.

That's part of what cracks me up. They are saying this to fool the media (i.e. professionals who cover this stuff for a living) and opponents (i.e also professionals who analyze and prepare for this type of thing professionally) yet you have figured out what the sports media and the Anaheim organization was fooled into and are so certain that you have figured it out that you criticize one of our own players (who is probably a lot tougher than anyone who reads or posts on these boards). That is why it is humorous to me.

I didnt like Hollands Response.... Hope to get him back before the end of the season.... he said that on channel 4 with Lurch Hancock

Before the end of the series or the end of the playoffs? Not trying to be a jerk just trying to understand what Holland said.

chelios was a big waste in this game, perhaps even for the entire season. We probably just saw his last game in the Winged-Wheel, unless it appears Rafalski's injury has worsened...

is Meech skating??

List of people I'd rather see on the 3rd pair than Meech:

1. Chelios

2. Rafalski with leg amputated

3. Me

4. Red Kelly (in 2009)

5. Cory Cross

Tongue-in-cheek obviously, but Cheli was fine. He played smart, won a couple battles to help clear the zone, didn't take any penalties, dumb or otherwise. He even created a great scoring chance, which is obviously a bonus out of him. Would've been nice to see him in the 3rd period too though.

this series is soon over if rafs does not play soon :(

How do you know? Only 1 game has been played, and the Red Wings won that game. Get a grip.

Damn you rafalski......................

Sometimes you can't play due to injury.

same thing happend in 2007

This isn't 2007, it's 2009. What happened in 1 series does not affect another series. Results of all series are independent of one another. The Wings are leading this series right now. Get a grip.

I thought Chelios was alright tonight, and I thought that he could have gotten a few more minutes - unless it had to do with fatigue, but I'm not convinced it was. Babcock doesn't like playing him that much, and it's his call.

In playoff situations, I'd much rather see Chelios out there than Meech. He's not going to put up the numbers he did in his earlier years, but he'll work in the corners and is no pushover. He's absurdly experienced, and while not as smart in hockey terms as, say, Lidström, he definitely does know what he's doing out there. I don't miss Rafalski for his defensive play - we've got that covered - it's his offensive stuff (puck movement, but especially him on the PP) that is missed most.

Plus, all the commentators seem to be making a big deal out of the 'Norris trophy count' for some reason. Chelios is a. a good reminder that you can have gotten a Norris trophy in the past without being Norris trophy-calibre at the moment (Donger), and b. I like the fact that if the 'experts' are going to count how many Norris trophies each team has, it makes our count even bigger than before.

And for what it's worth, when Hudler got hit (let's not get into whether it was clean or not), from what I could hear the announcers saying (camera wasn't looking at this) Chelios was the only Wing to take the matter up with Brown(nosing-Pronger).

Sorry for yet another post, but if people don't want dumb penalties, please cc. Messrs. Franzén and Holmström in on the message, not Chelios. Good sports cars can go from 0 to 60 in a matter of seconds, but we sure managed to go from 5-on-4 to 3-on-4 in a similar amount of time (I know, I know, the Ducks dove - they're acquatic birds, what else are they going to do?).
